I had one of these, but I got rid of it because it was dog-slow when booting up and it has all sorts of annoying proprietary cables and so on (even for the smallest things, like internal power cables).
@randomshinichi it was on for $1400 and I offered 1000 and they took it! It was a good deal but I think its not enabled for PowerVM(aka APV) IVM or LPARs etc
@xmlisnotaprotocol, LPARs and such high(er)-end virtualization on a mostly single-user level, would it prove very useful? Not that I wouldn't want to try it though (just like the recent HP Integrity based virtualization solutions, which even allow for OpenVMS guests), but it would seem a bit overkill for me personally at least. I'd rather use one of these systems as a nice number crunching system, perhaps for 3D rendering. However, I haven't heard much of 3D software (a la Blender) for POWER.
nice

I think so, there's a ofppc port of NetBSD I think. Never tried, never bothered. Linux seems to be bigger on RS/6000s than BSD Unix.

Can you run BSD on it?

@randomshinichi how is the sound quality on these workstations? Have you tried hooking up speakers and listening to some music?

@raid0422 Horrible. I can hear the noise even on my cheapo 2.1 Logitech speakers. But there is XMMS for it, and the sound does work.

@randomshinichi, oh come on, better luck next time! (Hi, by the way.) It was a bit hard, because of the distance.

@xmlisnotaprotocol Wow, that must have cost a lot. What do you plan to do with it?
