  • awsome plaine thumbs up :D

  • LOOK UP THE ARTICLE ON THIS FROM A FEW YEARS AGO. COAST TO COAST IN 68 MINUETS!

  • BLACK OPS FTW!

  • It's still number 1.

  • Unofficially...the SR-71 has maintained level flight at over 90,000 ft. Unofficially the pilot (can't remember his name) said he had to outrun a Soviet SAM and saw Mach numbers that frightened him, and said the number was well above the 'limit'.

  • @GoodBadUglyest ..If you need a name google Major Brian Shul, he holds the record for the speedous flight in a SR71, out turning missiles launch at his A/C over Libya, during high speed acceleration, the Habu had to climb, but just enough not to exceed 4-7 degrees or the A/C may enter a inverted flat spin on its back.....THX ....

  • @pipercub123456 Shul...Yeah, that's it. Did he ever say how fast he had it up to?

  • @GoodBadUglyest ..He recorded Mach 3.50 during his climbing excel manuver..read the Major's recollection of this flight over Libya..google;;[ major brian shul "i loved that jet" maggie's farm] this makes for some very interesting reading...Good Luck

  • SR71 vs Mig25

    SR71 had a longer range

    Mig25 was an actual fighter

  • @SisuM62 It was a interceptor and was used in photo reconnaissance role as well. It flew recon flights over Israel and Iran. It was designed to intercept the USAF Valkyrie which ironically got cancelled. I was just making the point that the SR-71 wasn't to fast to catch or shoot down. it can be tracked and it can be seen coming so as long as you can get something up there it can be shot down.

  • What is the background music?

  • @MuzzEdBurb Jean Michel Jarre, Oxygen part IV.

  • @MuzzEdBurb Jean Michel Jarre --song is called Oxygene

  • 370 ppl are former kgb

  • someone's ripping off Jean Michel Jarre...

  • shame abt the music....

  • on the battlefield...if you heard the engines of the sr71 blackbird, you were already dead!!!!!

  • @mystro1971 Fucking idiot. The SR71 was used as a reconnaissance aircraft, not as a fighter! And I dont think you would ever hear the engines of the SR71 as it flew at around 85000 feet! And no the X Men dont fucking have one.

  • Comment removed

  • @FruityLoopsDubstep What? X-men dont have one? But I saw it on the TV!!! Good comment, FruityLoops.. hehehe...

  • @mystro1971

the noise is behind it when it shits and gets.loudest A/C I was around.

  • nice use of Oxygene IV :)

  • Beautiful.

  • now imagine if they put Pratt and Whittney F135 engines in these....

  • Blackbird, a superior aircraft never taken down! Black, mysterious, fast and invisible power!

  • looks like a penis in the sky...

  • thats why they name the cbr1100xx super blackbird

  • a classic

  • This video inspired me to change my profile picture. I saw the SR many times when I lived in Okinawa and managed to photograph it one time at dusk with the afterburners on. By the way, a SR pilot told me one time that the only thing that could fly faster was the Space Shuttle.

  • Hey Gene Michael Jarre music is so creepy classic.

  • Kelly Johnson was a pioneer.

  • It looks futuristic, even in 2012, and they were designing it in the early 1960s. Makes you wonder what they have now....

  • In the states we may not make the best automobiles... though, I think it's safe to say that we make some of the best aircraft. The McLaren F1 of the air? If I do say so myself....

  • Amazing technology for it's time. Makes you wonder what they're working on almost five decades later

  • Love the creepy, 80's ass, Arthur C. Clark music. Good touch.

  • I wish I could have seen this in action! :)

  • @weggieman88 It was a spy plane.

Even the enemy didn't see it.

  • ХУЙНЯ

  • Theres NO WAY the SR71 would do a low fast past with full afterburners. Because everybody would go def.......

  • @NAVYBA5

    It has..2 people fainted..it wasn't on purpose

Incident with low lying fog in Burbank back in the 80's.

  • Can't put guns on it because it runs into the bullets =AWESOME!

  • @bopsmaster he was talking about a air breathing jet. The x15 was rocket powered.

  • It was some what stealth. The paint was radar absorbing. And the tail fins tilted in. It was the beginning of stealth.

  • Comment removed

  • Doesn't have to be stealth. It flew so high and so fast missles couldn't catch it

  • @zippythewonderslugoh Actually theres been a report a while back about how a bunch of communist heard of one coming and shot the luckiest missle ever and took it down

  • @VxDeltaForce1xV You can't hear them coming.

  • @jsha they saw it taking off and informed insurgents anyways if you dont belive me i think theres some pictures of it on google

  • We do not use the SR any more.Retired in late 80's or early 90's.

  • @zippythewonderslugoh Max speed of the SR-71 was Mach 3.3. Max Speed of the fastest Soviet interceptor the Mig-25 'Foxbat' was Mach 3.2. They both had similar ceilings of 80,000 feet plus. Lastly the air to air missiles the Mig-25 carried had a top speed of Mach 4.5.

  • @zippythewonderslugoh not true! some SAM can reach speeds over mach 4. Besides the fact that at that time it did not exist and it was not sposed to be in U.S.S.R. air space!!!

  • is it stealth?

  • x-men unite

  • Truly amazing craft. Way ahead of it's time. Go Skunkworks!!!!

  • I got a little sample of this masterpiece Blackbird from mach3ti.com

  • Wheres area 51?

  • @birdwatcherlj Nevada

  • This vid's probably like 30 years old, isn't it? They don't fly those things anymore

  • I remember me and my Dad making a wooden replica that hung from the ceiling.

  • @5HREDD3R thats really sweet awww lol

  • awesome bird tht is i love it

  • Dislike is a ninja thumbs up...

  • @ FedsUserName nerd

  • Looks like Chuck Norris got an 8 Kill Streak

  • Alien technology at its finest

  • Music: Jean-Michel Jarre - Oxygene

  • still the most beautiful military aircraft ever

  • It's amazing that something as bulky looking as the SR71 can go as high and as fast as it can.

  • I'm pissed because all these kids know about this plane thanks to Black Ops and I talk about it and they say "dude your so lame for talkin about Call of Duty" and I say "but I already know about it. I knew so many facts about this before they even made the game!" so frustrating

  • i dont know how that noise is stealthy

  • @xVeRSeii The idea is that the SR71 flies higher than most aricraft, and faster than almost all aircraft.

  • @FrodoTheDog777 full spec of the 'sled' is still classified! hoo-rah!!

  • how long did it fly for? because the SR-71 blackbirds fuel takes leak until the body expands and seals the cracks.

  • gta 4 music XD

  • Altitude record went bye-bye.

    -Tony Stark

  • I want to see it at Mach 2

  • @txiong82 c'mon it flies faster than mach 3

  • Amazing! And from technology that is almost 50 years old!!

  • hate to say it, but this was America at it's peak. Conceived, developed and built this thing without the aide of sophisticated computer programs but brilliance of the mind and craftsmanship of the hands. cannot forget those who built this thing out of forms. those were metal workers, man. the depression and WWII made America lean and strong.

  • @Mockingbird5150 don't hate to say it, you are spot on

  • Why did they have to stop using this fine bird?

  • @NVdelta40 It was made in the 60's!

  • The RAM jet. The faster you go, the more power you get.

  • The next plane is the scramjet with carbon body to handle the heat. Mach 12

  • Skunkworks!!!!

  • What i found pretty funny about this plane is it doesn't have any super sophisticated anti missile system... It just outruns the missiles lol.

  • What is the name of the music piece?

  • One of the greatest american aviation achievements.

  • that could of been a yf-12 or a-12 which are mistaken for sr-71's a lot but still all are very rare to see

  • @TheFALLONATER Impossible, as the A-12 was retired in the late 60's and the YF-12 never entered service, though technically NASA used one for a while.

  • give my potato back!

i need to film my wifes assss

  • SR-71 INBOUND

  • I know for a fact that the SR-71 flew over Washington state and into British Columbia briefly in 1996.

  • SR71 was rendered obsolete by mig 31. Both planes are record planes: mig 25 holds height record (i think 36600 meters), sr 71 probably holds speed record.

  • @Ma3gau and for the highest altitude plane was the X-15 at 355,000ft. or 109,000 meters

  • Great plane - but why do so many people put music on their video that only they like? Is this about the plane or the music? I clicked on SR-71 not some freakinn French electro from the 70's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The SR-71 was an awsome aircraft that still has many classified statistics that won't be beaten any time soon. Why spoil it with crappy music that was out of date by 1980???

  • Coolest looking plane of all time !

  • new york to la?? be there in 20

  • i have seen this in its hangar 24hr armed guards fuel all ova the place ha ha just awsome

  • so 361 of the Commies do no't like this LOL

  • this was 50 years ago.imagine what they have now.

  • I want one, where can I get one? Awesome jet.

  • RIP headphone users

  • @mojoeyFTW ROFL

  • i saw one of these do a low pass before, set off every car alarm in the parking lot, there were car owners who didnt even know they had car alarms, went off. and they even set off the baby alarms and everyone knows thats hard to turn off.

  • @MrByronpendleton; I have not heard this song; Oxygene, in probably 30-years, but I recognized it, and remembered its name immediately upon hearing it, played as the background music for; "Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird Must See Clips", posted by; 666nocturnal666. Now, I will have to find my old 33.3 LP vinyl album, and play it over and over again, just as I did in 1978, when I first heard it, and then rushed out purchased it.

  • Nothing can , has , or ever will compare to the SR-71 , in my opinion , it IS THE most advanced plane/weapon ever made.

  • @xUndertakerx1 ,i'll second that, look at what was done in the 50's and 60's! the space programme, SR71,,concorde etc.technology is going backwards

  • If I was president... THAT would be my airforce 1.

  • @thundershots99

Except there's absolutely no room for passengers in there...

  • @Rofocowboy84 I'm the president, there will be a third seat... :)

  • @thundershots99 doesnt work that way but i know what your saying. i def agree.

  • missle evasion tactic= full throttle lol

  • @krazor8 No missile could ever catch up with it.

  • what is the horsepower on this thing....

  • @Mr01012006 Each engine produces 32,500lbs (14,742 kgs) of static thrust. There is a formula to convert thrust to horsepower but you can be rest assured that the SR-71 is more powerful than a Golf GTI

  • American military is number one.

  • MACH 4.5....GREAT...!!!

  • @ciac47 Little generous in your speed estimate, but a fabulous vehicle just to be around. Spent 25 years connected with program. Worked other neat programs but, without a doubt, this was my favorite!

  • @jigdogmike that speed is not very generous at all my great uncle helped develope them and fly them

  • Best airplane ever ever built. If God wanted to fly it would be on this airplane.

  • Iran never would have brought that down.

  • What is the name of the music? I know it is very famous but I don't know it's name..

  • WERE WAS THIS

  • I you now this song from GAT VI

    watch?v=5DDEl7JnWvo

  • @lukey2603 music in the background is jean michel jarre - oxygene part 4

  • i'll take mine in red thank you with a years supply of fuel.lol

  • I want an rc jet of sr-71blackbird.

  • Report weight and power this plane remains very handy

  • its skin didnt tighten up..it expanded. if it tightened it'd leak even more.

  • here is a fun fact: on the ground, the Blackbird would actually leak fuel. They usually had to get it off the ground, go supersonic, and then refuel in mid-air for missions.

  • @averagedude1986 You are exactly right. The "skin" of the plane would tighten up at high speed with all that heat, so it was loose and a bit leaky on the ground! Also, I understand that the pilots wore kind of space suit looking outfits, and further, you were NEVER to touch the windshield once underway because of the intense heat. Such a cool plane, my dad made a meticulous Estes model rocket of this!

  • groovy music

  • @ncfatcyclist jean michel jarre - oxygene part 4

  • @ncfatcyclist Oxygene IV by Jean Michel Jarre.

  • @ncfatcyclist What is the name of this music piece?

  • @ncfatcyclist Jean Michel Jarre Oxygene

  • @ncfatcyclist its Jean Michel Jarre!

  • Its just amazing that this craft was built in the '60s! It was SO ahead of its time. Now if they could build this then, can you imagine what they have now?

  • @09jackstraw If you want to be further blown away, check out a B-70 sometime, and realize they started working on that thing in the 50s!!!!

  • it looks so sexy and syfi it looks unreal but it is one of the best airplanes ever built wait it is the best airplane ever built(p51 mustang like right around there to) just love it favorite airplane of all time

  • Such a wonderful and sleek looking Jet. Crazy looking at the thing knowing it goes to inner space and nearly the speed of sound. Amazing.

  • @DestroySteve NEARLY the speed of sound?? It goes 3 times the speed of sound.

  • 80s music went perfect with it.

  • thats what crashed at Roswell New Mexico in 1947!

  • that is the mclaren f1 of jets. still sexy.

  • Didn't need the music, the scream of the engines is music enough. Love that plane!!

  • Not bad for old tech.....you know they(we)? have anti-gravity craft....uno ufo.

  • Lol, I think the music is pretty appropriate for the age this masterpiece flew.

  • gay music !!!!

  • And the Russians, Cubans and Chinese never saw one of these this close...

  • funny how this thing can go around the world in a couple hours

  • song reminded me of arcades :)

  • @ pipercub so the proof is in the pudding but as per usual we only get a scoop at a time. Another very interesting fact, about italian scientist Andrea Rossi and his E-Cat which he discloses has received a contract with an american company starting with an "N." The energy catalyzer or E-cat is for lack of a better term a cold fusion reactor. As we know in the 50's and 60's the USAF did test flights of "atom powered" nuclear bombers... But there were problems with radiation exposure. Cold fusi

  • My dream come true, the black ops kids have ran to another game, and the comments are once again ruled by aviation enthusiasts!

  • Too bad about the crappy music detracting from this video.

  • @pipercub Being an aviation enthusiast I would assume you have heard of the scramjet engines, no?

  • Comment removed

  • @piperclub who cares if they were eliminated and dismantled. If you knew that there is new and improved air/spacecrafts in use and in production right now you wouldn't. How long after the Blackbird was designed and conceived did you know about it... SR-71B first flight in 64. introduced in 1966. Retired in 98. It would be foolish to retire a plane without the replacement at least in the works. Same goes for NASA's shuttle program. "flying bricks" are out of style. Not

    to mention there is money

  • @elkranch ..May thru Nov 2007 Marine Corps. Logist Base Barstow,CA the Defense Log. Ag. & A.F. Material Com. ordered the disposal of all existing materials associated with Senior Crown over 2 million pounds of related A-12 & SR-71 were demilled with ordered witnessed burial...the last NASA SR-71 went to the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo MI shipped by truck in 2003??what a waste to destroy all that Habu material,14 J58 engine 840+ tires etc...Peace

  • there is only ONE manned aircraft if you want to call it that that is faster than the BIRB and that is the space shuttle. If we believe everything the DD puts out about the BirB we are in a world of hurt. I will bet my retirement check she still is flying ou just don't hear about it, their have been some modifications to it to enhance speed and recon.Iwould put her up against any thing that flies from any country.

  • Keep thinking the SR-71 is through it does thing the Predaor can't do..and yes there is mach 5 drone and call it a gut feeling or maybe more but I think NK will be the first to find out I do agree thank you Kelly Johnson for designing such a bird. Oh would Russia back NK in a war. Not in my life time, China Maybe

  • Keep thinking the SR-71 is through it does thing the Predaor can't do..and yes there is mach 5 drone and call it a gut feeling or maybe more but I think NK will be the first to find out I do agree thank you Kelly Johnson for designing such a bird

  • Keep thinking the SR-71 is through

  • Beautiful flying machine, thanks to the brilliancy of Kelly Johnson

  • 3/19/70 I was just going off and we got a red ball. We hit the air in 2 f-4s as we hit mach 2 the bird pass us likw we were parked. Ground radar had picked up something( we were never told), but our orders we to bring it nout of the sky, I saw it on my screen but we could overtake it and niether could the bird and he was at full afterburn. Til I die I will always wonder what we were chasing. My sons it is the truth.

  • I would rather not see an invisiable nuke. They have said Oh the bird is retired, anyone want to make a bet on that. It still flies, but ask anyone in the defence depatment and they will lie like hell and say we have no use for it with out satalittes, I know withour going into details it fies. God I wish I could say the things that I know about the bird the way my luck runs the DD would be beating on my door I will say this Mach 3 is awalk it the park for the bird.

  • This puppy still rocks. Built in the late sixties and can still out strip mach 3 with a radar profile that would match today's B1 or B2 or the fighter F-117. This was the bird that propelled the USSR to develop an anti air missile to catch up to this plane. What a provocation to start a cold war! I mean I would be afraid.

  • This puppy still rocks. Built in the late sixties and can still out strip mach 3 with a radar profile that would match today's B1 or B2 or the fighter F-117.

  • Any plane that shits its pants when sitting still, and sucks itself along happily at Mach 3 is awesome :D

  • the fucking thing is a rocket lol

  • Pretty damn cool for 1960s technology. Read the excellent book "Sled Driver" if you can find a copy (very rare). I've taken many photos of the 71 at the National Air and Space Museum at Dulles, Va. .

  • still the best looking plane ever

  • I can't remeber as it has been so long ago but we did have a Recon was similar to the Bird". and yes had and a couple of other countries have been trying to for years to construct a missle that will catch the bird, but at last count there just as bad as we are in finding enough money to design something that will even come close the catching it. So far advanced for it time. Know or have a real good idea how fast but we will leave that alone.

  • @sixnightsaweek I think you are referring to to the U2, It was a high flying snooper and at the time, or at its onset, The USSR had no missile that could reach it. Technology caught up to the U2 and Fancis Gary Powers was shot down.
