  • Filigree. Love Dubravka Tomsic.

  • I simply enjoy because it's so close to my own vision of this Sonata. Great performance, better than Arthur Schnabel.

  • I'M A STAR!!!!!

    like for MTN

  • net slov :X

  • @tjtheplay it's in the music video :) not the song itself

  • i wish that i could play so good as you :p

  • Why does everyone say this is in marry the nit? I just listened to it and I not hear any of this in marry the night

  • Like this if Marry the Night didn't bring you here, and you actually just enjoy classical music.

  • marry the night brought me here, but I'm extremely happy it opened my eyes to a whole new world of awe inspiring music

  • jesus! to day is Beethoven's birthday and also the day i get the first salary in my life

  • the best Ive heard so far...

  • Wow. This is such an amazing performance! I wish I could play this half as good... :S

  • lol I was on another tab, and there was an ad with rock music... and I was like "Why is there rock on a classical vid?!" :P

  • hell yeah, this is my favorite piece to play. it does major damage to the keys because my dynamics are terrible though... i get too excited.

  • Great performance. In life and music timing is crucial.

  • kemal malovčić - car ljubavi

  • @unamae2 good luck! :)

  • i have a concert today and i'm playing this! sooo nervous!!

  • *piece

  • alright... so i play this peace and decided to listen to someone good perform it... man the difference between her and me is like heaven and earth! I wish i was half as good. Wonderful performance, wonderful pianist!

  • This is amazing. Simply amazing.

  • I have this cd. It is one of the first I bought, 20 years ago.

This recording was done in 1989. In the same cd there is a wonderfull interpretation of Waldstein - by far the BEST of all big known pianists.

The only drawback is that the recording is somewhat dry. But her interpretation of Waldstein is state of the art....

  • Every time I hear this I can't help but laugh because I know I'll never be this good. Hahaha

  • I just played this at one of my piano recitals... I could never get anywhere this good...

  • When hearing other people play music you can differentiate between the people that play the piece but not feel it, and the people that feel it but do not play it accuratedly. This pianist plays and feels the piece, which makes it a well-rounded piece and complete, not many pianists do not have the ability to combine both! A beautiful, difficult (I am already on movement 2, which is a bit more forviging than the first) piece wonderfully and beautifully played!

  • Amazing

  • astonishing.. thank you dubravka, thank you uploader

  • Wow, this is absolutely stunning! Beautiful playing! Amazing that she can play so fast!

I'm learning this, and I can't even get CLOSE to this tempo… forget the expression and stylistic factors.

  • give me 5 years!

  • @matvarn Take all the time you need. This is one heck of a movement.

  • @Egide0

I heartily agree, i'm working on it currently and it really is an unforgiving piece.

  • Definitely the best rendition of the Pathetique totally bookmarked for future listening

  • Her tone and touch is magnificent!

  • 3 people are pathetique

  • The 3 dislikes are bizarre. What were they thinking?

  • @jmacpher1 I guess they missed the like button?

  • 3 Dislikes from people who will never be able to play as well as her.

  • @musicianTL I understand that people might like different interpretations, but I don't honestly see why they would not like her playing.

  • I've only played the second movement, but after hearing this, I think I'll go for all three lol

    SHE'S JUST THAT GOOD

  • Gould plays too fast, Horowitz drags in areas, Kempf plays too heavily and mechanically... this is sweet perfection!

  • @juggernette397 It's not even sweet. It's just perfection.

  • @juggernette397 i agree,its perfect,but in my opinion Arrau's version is perfect as well

  • What a magnificent flow to this performance - she conveys the full drama of the movement without the frenetic and mangled passages that befall most other pianists.

  • @lourak this woman has sheer technical perfection on the piano. she knows her stuff!

  • Ahhhhhhhh, SOOOO GOOD!!!

  • @gustavloving You have no idea how many times I've listened to this woman...she's brilliant!

  • she's.... brilliant.

  • 4:15 OMGGGGGG Its the best part of all song and I thing its so beautifull thanks bethooven, thanks!, I'll see u in the heaven,

  • Insert funny comment about dislikes here to get rated up to highest rated comments section

  • like this a lot more than the gould performance

  • @Hankhankhank2

Isn't gould one of those people who thinks that you have to play fast to play well?

  • @TheEvilEmporerBunny yea pretty much. he's better with mozart than beethoven

  • @Hankhankhank2 Aren't most of Mozart's peices faster? I know the ones I've played are.

  • Genial, de las mejores interpretaciones que he oido...

  • What do you think of a young son who tackled this whole movement by himself less than a year from commencing piano at 7 years old?

  • PLZ SUSCRIBE!!

  • @vikkistarstruck Just did! Awesome channel!

  • @Egide0- awwwwwwww thank you!!

  • Bravo!!!

  • Ok I'll try to learn this next.

  • it has 128th notes :X

  • @shroomhead1 Nice to see some people have the time ;)

  • @denidowi It's important to me an it doesn't matter how long it will take me

  • @shroomhead1 I'm already on it. Got a page down, then moved to Europe for 3 months for school...head back in two days, so gotta get back on it!

  • I was pretty sure I was freakin awesome at piano... then I tried to learn this song. I've got the first two pages down, but it's a SLOW process. Dubravka definitely has skills.

  • @BDragon4386 Try doing it at 8 without any teacher aid whatsoeverLOL!

  • @denidowi It's a little late for me to try doing anything at 8. About 16 years too late, in fact. But everything I do on piano, I do with no teacher, so yes, I understand how hard it can be. Luckily I finally have this one to a playable state. :-)

  • Amazing !!!

  • Wow...took me awhile to find a recording of this, and it's amazing!

  • The best woman pianist in the world along with Sondra Bianca

  • @silverbird69 Myra Hess was also wonderful.

  • In my opinion, she is/was possibly the best pianist in the world, gender aside. I never heard so many near flawless performances as I have by this woman.

And this is definately my favorite version of the 1st movement of Pathetique Sonata.

  • @dtyreem yes, she is. I love her performance, powerful

  • @dtyreem It certainly has some great touches and reticence, but I like Rubinstein's more musical dynamic. :)

  • Do you know of any links to download this version? I have one by Arthur Rubinstein, but this performance of No.8 is so much better!

  • It's actually a 100 CD pack I purchased and she happened to be inside...it's a CD that I ripped, but there's somewhere on the net...so yeah, I'm expecting youtube to take this down very soon!! I'll upload the whole sonata on 4shared and send you the link immediately.

    Ciao!

  • Absolutely the best version of this beautiful song available on YouTube. Thank you so much for posting.

  • She is amongst the best my friend... the best.

  • Why is this a response to Glenn Gould??

  • @Egide0 on the top of that list =). Dubravka zmaga.

  • love it

  • =D!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Egide0=D!!!!

  • You are most welcome!

  • thde best perfomance i've ever heard! the most pathetiqe one :)

  • I uploaded a new video of Dubravka playing the best Chopin=D!!!!

  • there are not many videos of Dubravka Tomsic here...she's a great pianist, really great...I also know another one, his name is Evgeny Zarafiants, wow!! great pianist too and there are many pianist but they'r not here on youtube=(

  • Thank you, Egide0

I love it, just sad - out of millions people using youtube only 238 viewed this masterpiece

  • I know! This piece is quite rare on youtube... and even if there are versions, they are not professional ones like this one. I mean, they tend to be more homemade.

  • fantastic =)

  • Thank you
