@twsx Earthships don’t come with jungles or hippies! You have to plant those yourself. As for the location, does the sun not shine in Sweden? Even if it doesn’t shine much one of these Earthships with a little help from some form of extra heat would still work. The whole point in the design is making the most out of what is available locally. If there were no sunshine at all then obviously you would not try and build a home designed for solar gain.
@twsx It does work in Denmark and Norway, so why on earth you belief it's not working in Sweden? By the way, what do you have against Hippies? If this generation in the 70s not going different ways, nothing at all will have changed. The typical boring swedish houses from the 60s with gray asbestos plates on the outside will be everywhere now. Did the next generation change anything? Perhaps you do not fit in an earthship at all, if you do not catch the philosophy behind. Think about it a moment
@TheKongruent Hitch-hiking on your argument because I was thinking about the same thing while watching. How exactly does this work in colder climates? Same but no homegrown-food in the winter? Or just stocking up during the harvest season? Eitherway it doesn't seem very ideal in colder climates.
Beautiful, thank you. May the universe conspire positively around all of you and each desire for this awesome home be manifested. Namaste. Be Well and change the world.
Great work! thanks for showcasing positive solutions. Love the rainwater collectors built in to the design. What kind of off gassing does the rubber give off? I remember hearing about this issue back in the 70's.
For all of you living between DC and Boston: Michael Reynolds will be doing a 3 day conference in Philly 4/17 to 4/19 on how to build these! Philly will be building the first official urban Earthship! check out the earthship website and search for philly
I really cried watching this video. I so pissed of of our fucking system. It´s so stupid paying rent all our live for surviving. We need houses like this - now!
Amen! We can make the change. Each of us in his or her time. And we can help each others as we can . . . with encouragement, knowledge, supplies . . . whatever.
It's my belief that God is bringing these wisdoms to us now because we're ready to share them.
@Dominicaislandmon The fucking monetary system. I hardly survive here in Mexico where the half of the whole country is in poverty, without work and houses. I not even have savings. :(
@lightsout9999 Take home a tire a day. That will be 365 of them in a year. That's a whole lot further along than you will be griping about savings. I know life ain't easy.... especially there... but each tire will give you purpose and direction and make life ... one tire easier each day. If you say you can...you're right. If you say you can't ..... you're right.
@Dominicaislandmon Great idea my friend! As soon I have moved my place I will do it. By now I really can´t because I´m in a big city (Mexico City) and I don´t have a place to store them (the tires) I rent just a little room where I hardly have place by myself. But I will follow your idea. I like it!
i have a large family with five children. we cannot find anywhere to live. nobody will rent to us. we woul like to be your first famiy housed in one of these babys.please contact me theevilchipmunks@gmail.com
This is one for Canada.. Some people have copied the basic design here, and the average soil temperatures are a bit low, so they end up burning wood to keep it warm. With enough solar gain area, and a way to isolate the sun space at night, or whever it's not providing heat, it should work all winter with no heating fuel other than sunlight. I'm assuming there's a rain shedding layer in the back to prevent water from washing heat out of the soil between the pink insulation and the tires.
Here for the first time, you see it ALL go up piece by piece, detail by tiny detail. It deserves a running commentary though. Excellent effort. So many thanks. I simply loved it.
@8DoverNJ Looks like Google Sketctup. I would LOVE for them to release this model. It's 1000 times better than the one I uploaded to the Sketchup Warehouse following the current Global Model Volume One book.
Also, I noticed they changed the front skylight designs as well. I still dream that some day, I will live in one of these.
@TheDudeRulez09 What we need are earthship contractors, who can help us take care of the construction work/legal details. This is great, but not many consumers are willing to go through the work. The average consumer from a developed country would rather just pay for a professional to deal with most of the hassles.
@Decktrio Yeah, that’s what I would like, to be able to walk into a showroom and be able to choose from a list of available blocks of land and then choose what Earthship I would like on it.
To be able to tell the office team what country, state and town I’d like to have my Earthship in. I have a slipped disc there is no way I could pound a tyre for long.
in Australia the Earthships would sell like crazy here.
@Decktrio What we also need are individuals who don’t shape the future on aesthetics alone. Building codes are in place to make sure a structure is safe. Not to keep you from building what you want. We made the building codes in the first place there is no reason we cannot add to them. There are more ways than one to “skin a cat” so to speak.
Good video - well done graphics, simple, and slow enough to follow along with. The whole EarthShip concept is awesome and powerful enough to change and open minds. Thank you for sharing your work and your concepts so generously.
thankyou! i've been ready for the world to use some brains and think sustainability and harmony with nature my whole life...you just reminded again today - that we are at that tipping point finally, (yet sadly took too long), the time is finally unfolding where 'they' can no longer ignore the logic of working with nature, rather than only against it. I loved this vid, and of course the simple, yet luxurious future of living at peace:)

I liked the idea until in-house jungles and hippies came into the picture. Also, no heating bills? Try that house without heating in Sweden.

@happosai27 What stone houses "that can last 1000 years" are you talking about?
Watch the documentary "Life After People". See how long our standard buildings would really last.
