  • Is interesting such structure of a thorax, doesn't disturb to cardiac muscle work, and respiratory ways?

  • my chest sticks out :s

  • I have the same but not so deep. It is becomming deeper with the years?

  • Wait wait wait i got this to,ur saying something that was gonna pull my chest out isnt there?!

  • hi i have pectus too :S i tryed swiming and all of that bud it didnt help those the surgery hurt ?

  • I envy you. I am a 25 years old man with a funnel chest. Did you do the nuss procedure? Did your insurance pay the full amount of the surgery?

  • without insurance, it costs about $25,000. my insurance had to cover it because of how deep mine was. you can go to a doctor ( i went to a personal trainer who specialized in pectus) to measure how deep it is, and they'll determine if you can get it. i think it's somewhere around 2.5 centimeters or something like that.

  • im 15 now and mine sticks out really far. really... really.... far so ive been doing like 300 pushups a day for like 5 months and its almost gone so im preety happy. its sorta shit cause ive been doing sports my whole life and its really the only thing im good at and yer.... but anyway how old do you have to be to get the surgery done?

  • Mine's a lot worse. My chest sinks in on the right side, making my chest asymmetrical. Haven't been swimming or taken my top off in public since a young child. I am now 41

  • i'm 17 years old, is that a pretty good age to have this surgery done?

it worries me about health problems and i'm also very self concious. i was in the lunch line and this guy started making fun of it while i was with my friend. its not that bad but boy i wanted to knock his lights out!!!

  • Yes, get it done early as its harder for adults. Im 18 (almost 19) and I'm having it done on monday.

  • @Scrubs141 I'm no expert but i have talked to doctors and i think your age is fine. I'm 15 and am planning on getting it.

  • Well i have Pectus too and Mines a lot worse than yours is and I'm a competitive bodybuilder...

I've never had and cardiac troubles

  • I have pectus as well. Can I see a picture of what a pectus looks like on a bodybuilder? Are you thinking about getting surgery or did you you already have one?

  • Wait so that's why we has Pectus?

MY doctor never described it like that.

  • Mine neither o_0

  • i´m 14 Aaaand i have this too

i dont think its so baad

some people got no fingers etc.

    live your life

  • well said! i hate it, but im the only one making an issue, no one cares, at the beach there will always be the embarrasment, but none more than what the fat birds with there tits out should have! alot of people with far worse conditions would take pc any day over their symptoms.

  • I Have It But I Will Never Go Swimming Or Beach ! I Hate It Im 15 What Should I Do?

  • @Killcasper94 I get your point. i have this as well but mine is fairly severe. I am a very active guy i play football, lacrosse i mountain bike snowboard and longboard. if your isnt that severe or if you are not a sporty guy you may not understand how hard it is. i'm always one step behind everyone else because my chest is putting pressure on my lungs preventing me from breathing fully. I'm planning on getting surgery in the next month or two because I simply can't live with it.

  • i'm 12 i have pc also is there any avoiding surgery?>>> reply plz

  • I'm 15 and I have it and my parents wont allow me to go through surgery and tell me to get over it but its embarrasing =(

Unfortunately I dont think there is any other way but I know if you work out and try to eat more and gain weight it wont be so obvious.

As you notice not many overweight or buff men ahve this problem, its unoticble with girls seeing as they ahve breasts.

  • which is a good thing men who have man breaast looking mens they kinda look like they work out on upper body.

  • If there are no complications caused by the pectus excavatum and you solely want it fixed for cosmetic purposes, then there is an implant that you can get in your chest. "Sorta" like a breast implant put in the chest hole. Recovery for this is way less intense.

  • my surgeon told me that its actually best to have it done before it gets out of hand but i've also heard you have to wait until you grow more or else it will be a rough recovery he also said something about it leading to breathing problems but i would ask a professional about yours everybody is different

anyway the operation is pretty rough but once you get through it there are a lot of rewards

  • btw i had P.C. were it sticks out so the other surgery might be easier or worse idk

  • after rewatching this now - after 4 months ago, when I put my hand in mine (like you did at 1:36) it goes in so far I can't see my knuckles from the side view. And your has a little hole toward the middle, my hole is not only much bigger, but the upper part of my chest between my upper pecs is concaved in as well. I wish I was dead.

  • I got PC

  • hey, i had the operation 3 weeks ago. Mine went really deep. Mine wasnt missing cartledge my ribs just grew it in like that. I would get out of breath easily and get tired. After i had it done my chest looked normal. apart from the two scars under my nipples. It still hurts and it just doesnt feel right! im happy i got it done though! 1 in 1000 people get it

  • I am 28 years old. Have it much worse than you and I risk dying everyday when i work out. I get the same symptoms from working out like shortness of breath and pain in my heart/chest. But I don't care. I HOPE my aorta bursts and I die of this shitty condition. I have real good muscle tone, and I'll never stop working unless it kills me. And I cant afford the procedure.

  • hey..i have PE as well. I have some good news for you. the procedure is covered. you don't have to pay. i'm considering it, but my PE is so minor and i'm too scared. don't wish to die though! there is hope.

  • if it's minor then maybe you shouldn't get the surgery. I have minor pe too and i'd only think of surgery as a last resort.

  • no one has ever died from Pectus Excavatum and The surgeon who is fixing my chest in august with the nuss procedure had a patient whose chest went past his spinal cord.

  • jeez best wishes

  • Wow good luck dude i had almost the same thing.(I had pectus carinatum or however you spell it)I got the surgery in the summer of the of my 8th grade year so i couldn't really do much and i'm still not fully recovered from it and that was almost 2 years ago.

  • pectus carinatum couldn't mess up my life anymore then it already has and i'm only 16 i can't do sports, i'm paranoid most of the time, my confidence couldn't be any lower it absolutely SUCKS!! and plus you feel so self concious :-(

  • i have much worster chest than you... and i'm searching for the surgery, the freedom from this hell

  • thanks man im 15 nd living in ireland with the same thing and trying to get the surgery thanks for teaching aboat it oh and can anyone tell me how much it will cost please

  • Paying for the surgery out of pocket would cost way too much. Try to get a doctor who knows about pectus excavatum and see if you cant get your insurance to pay for it.

  • man i have the same body shape and size and same pec size (maybe a tiny bit bigger out) and same size hole and i dunno y in the world u would get surgery for it... it takes u out of sports and shit for like a year, and doesnt give u anything, xept looks :P

  • Man I completely know how you feel and how fucked life can be sometimes with that in your chest because I yself was born with pectus excavatum. Happy for yah, gettin the surgery, im goin in November, so well see how things play out for me!

All the best man, keep doin what u doin...

  • It's not a missing piece of cartilage, but the cartilage grows too quickly, which forces the sternum to go in(pectus excavatum) or out (pectus carinatum).

  • Je vous comprend pas...

Pourais tu parler en Français, SVP

  • Moi, je voudrais translater pour toi, mais je ne sais pas comment faire.

  • Avec Google Translation...

    Merci Beaucoup

  • soldier on!

  • thats wierd. never had an accident or surgery, but i was born with my chest like that. only one other person in my family has it like that. kewl

  • very good, very interesting. cool tattoo too

  • Oh, I definitely got one of those! It's called an epidural, and mine when right into my spinal cord and killed all the pain below my shoulders. I would've been in serious pain with out it...
