too the band/dancers/ percussions/ etc: All those hours of hard work payed off! Great job! You did amazing and I was astonished by you're performance!
@325MADness I was a freshman for this show at Reagan, but I did attend this past BOA in San Antonio to watch my cousin perform for Reagan. I got to see Hidalgo's performance and it was definetly a flash-back!! You guys did great. I absolutely loved Synergy and it was crazy to see it again.
It looks like the kids were given way too much freedom with their visuals. I dont know who their band director is, but it just looks too unruley. My band director NEVER would've let us get that sloppy. However, it was an exciting crowd pleaser so they have that going for them.
Please try to mitigate you're insults towards such things. The people who put the hundreds of hours into this routine did not deserve the pretentious comments you and others have put on here. If you're truly educated with these sort of routines then you must know the blood, sweat and tears others have put into making it perfect. Next time instead of being a downer and hurting the people who really worked hard for this, just say you need some improvements but other then that you did you're best!
why are the sets leading up to the pyramid and circle at the end of this video than another video from later in the season? did they change something?
I like how Ronald Reagan Bands music isn't so dark but very uplifting giving its audience like positive hope in the near future. It shows that a marching show doesn't always have to be so dark and "emo".
@DrumManTX I agree. I don't think there are many bands out there that can perform like Ronald Reagan. Before anyone shoots off there mouth I never went to this school I went to school in Indiana.
I'm not overly fond of the direction color guard has taken in the past 10 years or so because it has gotten, as you said, distracting. A successful show should use all sections so that they compliment each other, not distract from one another. Guard instructors really need to work on that. Having said that, it seems equipment writers are always wanting to do the whole "faster-harder" approach when it comes to work, but it shows when they don't pay attention to the talent level of the students.
omg! I remember this show! It was sooo awesome! I loooved the music! i remember going to different contests that season and seeing this show over and over and i never got bored of it!
ha, its funny to go back and try and pick ones self out. In doing so, I just remembered how here at 8:28 theres this cluster of like six people on the 40 that have to form into an X, and instead of going directly to my spot I kind of have to do a curve move (tall bass clarinet.) Forgot all about that!
I watched one of his newer shows which had Claire de Lune in it and there was the same melody. Then I listened to Claire de Lune and I could hear it. Guildry just speeds it up and removes the improv.
i agree with Motogu i think the exact same thing...its not the same if u want to win now in days raise above 100,000 dollars to buy props and impress judges in order to get 1st place
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Transitions are sloppy for a finals show, guard sloppy to many over throws and the tempo is wild. Like to see what there comp was... This song was butchered and they did not pull off the tempo change marching tech that acc this tune... An over the top band not impressed..
This is what you call a "Marching Band"...a show like this just doesn't win in modern days...it has to be all theatrical. This is pure amazingness. Marching and playing. Compare this to some recent BOA SA winners. Not the same competition anymore.
Are you kidding me man? Marcus is all about marching and playing that difficult music. I like L.D. Bell's shows, too, but I agree that it's more impressive to see bands integrate marching and playing to a high level.
Though I must say, this show is the most difficult visual package I have ever seen put on the marching band field. No contest.
Marcus plays difficult music (and REALLY well too), but they do no marching worth noting. Also, Marcus uses the most extravagant props of ANY school I've seen. It is NOT the same competition anymore, in part because Reagan and others started doing some crazier things back around 2000 (think PCEP's band in a box, and that weird hair in one of Reagan's earlier shows).
Watch 2:40 - 3:10 again and tell me when Marcus or anyone has done something like that to win a BOA in the last couple years..
Wow. I can't believe the number of kids (and they must be kids) who are trash talking the "drum solo." Clearly, there is no "drum solo" in this show. There is not even a percussion feature, nor does there need to be. The percussion is well integrated into the musical program, the front to back communication is great, and they contribute to effect with great sensitivity. If you don't understand that this is the POINT of a good percussion section, then get off the internet and go get educated
Bravo! but its a little easier to do with a big band i would be going to this school ad tryed out for the drumline would of made it lol but good job great show
yea im not trying to hate or anything that was a great show but you just think with everything else that was so great you think that they could make the drum solo a little better than a basic rock beat, ya know?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
as a drummer not only was the drum solo basic but there technique on most of them are pretty horrible and look when there playing on the cymbals they loojk encredibly stupid
i think it's pretty obvious that that drum feature wasn't meant to highlight the drumline's skills and technique. you can tell from the rest of the show that the drumline can play more than just a simple rock beat. that section was meant to have a different feel from the rest of the show. it was for General Effect
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
that drum solo was pathetic for one it wasnt a solo and to they all played like three notes a measure make interesting some heritas or at least a simple roll what of done it for my show this year the snares and the tenors are gonna play on trashcans and its split and all diff kinds of crap
Understand that the intent was not to impress the audience with tricky rhythms. It was a different mood, and not everyone has to like it, just like people enjoy different types of music.
Also, accept the show as it is, and realize that there are literally hundreds and hundreds of hours necessary to create shows like this. It's a little disappointing how you openly insult it.
RR's shows are different from most others. They have a sound and use instrumentations differently than a lot of other groups out there. As a result there shows are some of the most entertaining shows.
