  • beautiful deer man. i live in ohio and i can only hope my first big buck is as nice as yours congrats.

  • What county are you guys hunting in Ohio? I hunt a lot in Holmes and Knox County

  • good video, and great buck...what kind of Mathews is that? The outback maybe?

  • I guarantee you gut shot that buck, and waiting till the following morning was a big mistake. A good hunter period...you are not! (You are a discrace)

  • @tigg3366

WTF are you talking about. You think he gutshot that deer and that he shouldnt have waited til the next day? Thats the first fuckin thing you do if you think you made a marginal shot is let him lay before looking for himi.

  • I wing arrows at deer out to 90yrds out of the winged arrows I have hit and killed 6 and completely missed two. Practice out to 100yrd and use a range finder. iTs ok to play fast and loose sometimes.

  • your last name is flowers? nonetheless that is a big deer

  • THATS A MONSTER COOL VIDEO 5*s

  • Buddy where's your safety harness, it looks a though you are in a treestand? Nice buck!!

  • Nice buck I live in ohio and we got some nice deer. Ive bowhunted for a long time and no matter how much you practice everyone hits a little back sometimes. couldve been a small twig you can't even see. I'm glad you posted this because not everything goes as perfect as the shows on TV make it seem. unckle Ted will tell you. To me what showed you new what you were doing was the quartered away shot and waiting to retrieve. that all led to a mount and backstraps, good job!!

  • nice buck, but you shouldnt just be winging arrows at deer especially trophies like that.

  • agreed, don't just wing arrows, but i think as the video attests, he hit exactly where he was aiming...and knew exactly where the arrow was going to fly prior to hitting the deer, through the v in the little tree, thanks for watching, there will be more to come

  • Good shot since that area was bushy and tough to see. How far out was he?

  • just over 30 yards

  • I don't know, Ive never gut shot a Deer with a Bow or rifle, but this was one thing my father as I was growing up would always harp on. "If all you have is a gut shot, You have no shot at all" what to see him again or he is destine for some other hunters fire. Anyway I do remember we took out a guy who did gut shot and luckily the arrow did penetrate up into the bucks check cavity and ultimately kill him. However we searched well into the night until we found the deer.

  • o yea one more thing davidharper827 if you knew a thing about bow hunting you dont jump a buck. You go let it die u bastard!!!!

  • i completely agree Nseminole. It doesnt matter how much you practice at all but if your a true bowhunter you will miss and make bad shots

  • Davidharper 827: You are just jealous the kid nuked a bigger buck than you or your an animal fag in disguise. Have you ever made a bad shot with bow? Just want to see if you are a liar or not.

I have bow hunted for over 35 years, I practice out to 80 yards 5 time a week for elk season. I have had shots that have gone awry but one thing bownutz DID right was not push the animal. Not a bad of a shot with the animal quartering away.

Congrats kid on a nice buck.

  • THANX NSEMINOLE,

Hey, u from florida? Got any turkeys down there? I have never seen me an Osceola

  • gut shot all the way man !!!! But ive always been told the only bad shot is one where the deer isnt found in a reasonable time

  • Gut shots happen!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even to the pros!!!!!!!! Nobody is perfect, i know some of the sharpest archers in the northeast and they still have a gut shot from time to time! The most important part is to realize that you didn't hit the vitals and give the deer adequate time to die! Obviously they did because they went to track the deer the next day! If you recover the animal than it was a successful hunt! BOTTOM LINE

  • Nice gut shot man, just let the deer die on its own huh? You're a bastard. Practice doesn't mean just before the hunt, try practicing year-round so this doesn't happen again.

  • david, in case u havent studied anatomy, or practiced very much it was a perfect shot given circumstances. tried to let deer come closer, deer turned to walk away. Rich had practiced religiously all year round and knew he could execute the shot in pressure situation. PERFECT SHOT. THANX FOR WATCHING

  • nice job rich was this in the hanover area

    greg wills

  • And now, you will become an avid bowhunter. Nice to read your responses, and comments. Shows you are also responsible. I have had to stop hunting because of a work injury, but am still hoping to one day be able to continue. Welcome to the brotherhood, and remember a hunt can't always be rated by the size of the animal. Some of my most memorable trips sent me home empty handed. Still enjoyable. Going to be hard to top this buck. Great all round job.

  • From the look of that shot, it looked like you hit the far lung, and maybe clipped heart? Was it a pass-through?

  • no pass through

def. far side lung and liver

  • gut shot!

  • no, gut shot. quarterd away up into goodies, thanx for wathching

  • I thought it might've made it's way into the lung cavity. Buck down is still a buck down. Good job!

  • no nutz

  • Nice buck!!!!! ☻☺

  • Wierd how it always looks like a poor shot, but what happens is that it angles up into vitals. Good buck, man.

  • That shot looked a little back-whered the arrow end up hitting him. Sweet buck! How far was that, looked pretty far? Post more!

  • nice shot kid. great first buck. i think that one spoiled you. hard to top that big brute

  • that was pitiful shot

  • actually it was perfect. but thanx for watching

  • i didnt know the lungs where in the hind quarters

  • you don't need to be a jerk

  • that kid was being a jerk to that animal by not practicing his shooting

  • but they taste good

  • One thing I dont understand is, How can you ppl enjoy killing deers and such, its sick, FUCKING SICK I SAY

  • do you eat micky d's do you see cows lining up to make your burgers. what we do to these deer is 100 times more humane then what happens to livestock

  • for sure! nice to see a hunter that knows how to stick 2gether

  • Nate out here in the midwest shots avg over 40 yds. things aint as condensed here in CO. I used to live in Md and the transition is a little tricky to get used to. To hunt white tail here you got to go to the planes where there is hardly any cover

  • whats some good advice you would give to a new hunter that has yet to kill a deer in two seasons! ps im using a mathews also the dxt

  • nice shot bro i saw what you were talking about with the fork in the tree, great shot

  • 34 yards is way to far to shoot with a bow but you pulled it off nicley I never shoot past 25 yards but nice buck.

  • I used to feel the same, but once I bought a new bow (08' Martin Cheetah) I am comfortable out to 40 yards. I usually dont take those shots though because I dont have a rangefinder :/

  • Where in Ohio did you get that. What county. I'm from Ross County, and your name sounds very familiar.

  • coshocton county. like always the farm was sold and we dont hunt there anymore

  • ya sry but that looked like a terible shot

  • evidently you havent killed very many animals w/ a bow 82f150

  • no sir not many and i see that the shot was straite into the lung but i still think the second shot was not nesisary

  • this deer was shot only once, you might be thinking of 'Thanxgiving buck'. the second shot might not have been necessary, but i dont take chances w/ a deer that is already hit. fill them w/ holes... youll learn

  • Was a weak shot, but I killed my 150 incher the same way but at 23 yards. Drive that arrow into the vitals and no bones to interfear with penetration, 20+ inches inthe chest is death and around 15 seconds! His was a bit low though but it worked! We all try to manage ethical harvest and sometimes you just have to take the shot. quartering away is a pretty good shot, distance and alertness will also dictate the outcome.

    You bud....the flintknapper..

    Bohunter

  • How far did the deer run before it went down? It kind of looked like a questionable shot.

  • about 75-100 yards.

We looked for blood right at the shot site, nothing.

****Shot was perfect. The shooter was 6' to the left of me, meaning the deer was quartering away hard.

    *****NO BLOOD, MEANS

    ****NO TRACK. ****NO PUSHING DEER***

****DEER FOUND EASILY THE NEXT MORNING****

THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT RECIPE FOR SUCCESS FOR US OVER THE YEARS...

....WHEN IN DOUBT, BACK THE HECK OUT AND GO FIND HIM IN THE MORNING...EVEN IF IT RAINS!!!!

  • must agree, im come from a family thats big in hunting and ive been on tracking expeditions since i was 5 years old, and thats a tried 'N true method. great shot by the way, that takes alot of confidence to make a shot like that, definently shows you've put in the work to get to know your bow. im from butler ohio so watchin your vids' put me right at home. congrats on the kill and keep it up

  • Nice, how far away was that?

  • 34 yards.

  • congrats! keep the footage coming and put the HURT on em'

  • great job!

    you the man!

  • cool

  • nice leg shot. I would have taken it too...

  • not a leg shot at all. the deer was quartering away, and even harder because the shooter was 6 feet to the left of the camera.

A LEG SHOT IS NEITHER ETHICAL OR ACCEPTABLE, PERIOD. THAT SHOT ENTERED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE LEG, ABOUT THE LAST RIB AND BURIED IN THE OFF-SIDE SHOULDER.

After all my years bowhunting and guiding/tracking: I will tell you that the femoral artery is a target the size of a pencil, whereas lungs are the size of a basketball.

    keep on "lungin' em"

    :)

  • great shot man. i had to take 2 years off of bow hunting when i moved away from home to go to college but next year the deer of Pennsylvania will have no idea what hit them ha-ha. congrats yet again
