I am trying to make contact with Christian Stock. I played in bands with him when I lived in Bavaria 20 years ago. Anyone reading this who can put me in touch, please do! Thanks. Greg Waits
just saw this quartet and this version here is better than the one they played (it was still great but...) any chance you could upload the whole live version of this? thanks for the video dougles15 - best, sg.
9:00 + 10 sec: break of awesome! the pianist is pretty good. does anybody know who he is? it's unbelievable how he picks the rhythms and keeps everything in control. the whole band is superb, of course.
I was lucky to meet Charles Lloyd a few years ago on the North Sea Jazz festival in Rotterdam. He had very bright, young eyes. The album he made with Abercrombie, Mehldau, Higgins and Grenadier (Hyperion with Higgins) was my key to jazz music.
@CheckMate657879 what a coincidence, I was there too! Bola Sete opened, Charles Lloyd with Keith Jarrett played second, and the Grateful Dead closed. Definitely one of the best concerts I've ever been too!
yes you're right. This song started so slowly, kind of rubato, solo flute. Then the other guys joyned Charles on stage.. 'til this groove came out.. (;
Thanks for this - 'tis very cool. A minor correction, Charles Lloyd is a mere 70 but his energy is only to be admired, especially as he has just released his best album for at least a decade

I saw Charles Lloyd -for the first time the end of August 1967 at the Greek Theatre - UC Berkeley.
Wow!!! What a way for an 18-year old to spend a Sunday afternoon. I'll never forget it - or him.
