My friend bought a 91 Blazer for 600 bucks 3 years ago and it had 620000k's on it and he still has it and there hasn't been a single problem with it to date.
i had one of these, my stepfather bought it from me and still drives it today. it has been very reliable for both of us, but it drinks gas like a toddler drinks cool-aide
my mom has a 1993 chevy blazer LT tahoe with 265,000 miles and it is still running strong. it just goes through fuel filters, pumps, and EGR valve screens pretty bad
@DamnStraightM35A2 Junk ? Not the first generation s10 trucks and SUVs... I had a 1992 blazer with 223000 miles on it and it only had things like the fuel pump, drivers side power windo motor and AC were fixed. every other bill and service paper in this trucks folder was for shocks, tires, oil changes and yearly state safety inspections...
@DamnStraightM35A2 I had a 1990 2 door, that thing drank gas, sucked the battery dry, and refused to work if only one sensor stops working. We got rid of it, that thing was garbage.
I drive a '99 with over 213 thousand miles. Don't know for sure because odometer doesn't work anymore and quit after 207K and 2 oil changes ago. Original engin and transmission. 4X4 still gets me out of places, too.
@IRONMAIDENfreakDANI now wait a minute i see alot 0f s-10s on the road today from this generation and they sold for less that 8k when they were new. you cant beat that now can ya?
these trucks are class. i owned 3 of them. i sold my last blazer a 94 to my stepfather when gas got to be to expensive. he still has it and it runs great at 142K orginal trans and engine. i have a friend that has a 2002 explorer, he is on his 3rd transmission at 2,800 per new trans with labor. what a piece of shit, and its ugly to boot. the s10 blazer was and still is a great truck.
I have a 1992 Explorer and the early models are in no way comparable to the current one's quality wise. My '92 runs perfect with 97,000 miles. Everything still works flawlessly. It is incredibly rust prone however though.
Your friend must have some shitty luck or more likely is doing something wrong because my ford explorer has 160k miles and my stock engine and transmission still work great.
I have a '92 (affectionately named "Maggie") and I just love her. I bought her 3.5 years ago and she just turned over 160k, other than needing some new shocks and and a new track in the window on the driver's side, she runs great:0) Could anyone tell me though, this past winter I'd try to engage the push button 4wd, and while I pushed up for 4hi I had to jiggle the shifter (in park of course) or it might not engage. What does that mean?
I have a 92 chevy blazer, 350k on her (had to rebuild the engine at 150k because of blown head gasket). She is still running smoothly except i have to wait for it to get into drive or it jumps into 1st gear if i hit the gas. One of the best SUV's, i can still out run my buddys 2000 honda civic.
This was my first vehicle. A Dark Blue w/silver underbody 2-tone 1993 Chevy S-10 Blazer LT. Wish it were a 4X4 but, I loved it anyway. I will miss the Blazer Line up.

@komahoby well i agree with you on the fact that there´s more s-10s out there than the k1500 ones...i just said that the k1500 was a lot better!

@IRONMAIDENfreakDANI ohh i thought you were talking about long lasting wise not quaility. i would agree that the k1500 was better quaility too :)

Had a 1986 K5 Silverado Blazer that I reluctantly sold in 1999 because I moved from the country into the city.
With this country screwed up and a gallon of milk costing more than a gallon of gas I probably won't ever get one again.
Great truck.
