You play very good for being 13! Do you play the whole concerto, or just the first movement? I don´t understand how you can practice just 2 hours, and still be soo good!
just a side note, the second chord of the first phrase is voiced from lowest to highest F# D# B. That is one of two mistakes in the International addition. But no worries, even Janos Starker plays the G instead of the F#. Perhaps you chose to play the G instead of the F# but I thought I'd let you know just in case.
what kinds of mom arent crazy? Vengerov's mom or Menuhin's mom? it's impossible that he could be so amazing if he is not a highly talent, or u'd say ur not good cuz u dont have a crazy mom?
Very nice. I am a cellist too. I'm almost 18 now and I have not played anything harder than Saint Saens A minor concerto. I am surprised to see that Oliver is 13 now. I remember when I was learning Christian Bachs Concerto when I was 16 and I watched Oliver play it as an 11 year old. Now hes playing Dvorak Concertos. I think Oliver got it young while I'm still playing get it when youre old card.
When this boy will be 20, we will hear a lot about him - he has got a great sound, the intonation is very good. There are a lot of great young violinist, but great cellist are rare - Oliver, please play more for us!
congratulations on your fine performance! I wish you all the best in your career. This is one of my favourite concertos, and your performance blew me away. You deserve a fine orchestra to support your talents.
This cellist is really good. Nothing to do with clever monkeys you can hear everywhere (I think about some famous cellists, I keep their names for me...). He has a style, a tension, a taste. He plays with an "ideal" in the heart. If he's always continuing this way, that will be very interesting to listen a cellist for one time...
and I almost forgot to comment on your playing which btw is really great! I loved the vibrato on the opening B and very powerful playing throughout the whole piece!
A decidedly good performance! This boy shows amazing depth of expression, surpassing many cellists in their twenties (including myself) and his technique is good and secure (intonation slips here and there, but no one's complaining). One interesting thing to note is that his sound is rather light, more towards a chamber-type sound for playing with piano accompaniment rather than a full-bodied sound for playing with the orchestra. It works, however.

This is really good. You should post it on the Musical Overture site so more recruiters and conductors will see it.

Oliver is now 15. He played the whole concerto at 13 and now, and have played it with an orchestra. Two hours is enough for him.

I love the dedication he takes to make sure his cello is tuned properly. :)

i could just curl up and cry myself to sleep it's so beautiful...cello's are the bestest ^^

He plays Dvorak like if it was Tchaikovsky. Hopefully Mr. Harrell fixed this just recently! Anyhow, I love this kid, he's my role model!

non esageriamo, molte note non ci siamo, comunque la tecnica per un ragazzo di 13 anni, e' ottima. Franco

No. No forcing. His own idea and his own motivation. He loves the cello.
