Eb whistle looks like guitar has capo on first fret to confirm also I bought a Generation Eb whistle the other day and pitch matches pefectly.Case closed,LoL.. Glenn Pall,New York
My favourite Dubliners album has always been "Live at Montreux" from 1976. John plays the same selection as here. Never thought I'd see actual footage from that time.
I'm not trying to have an agument, but I have learned that song from sheet music and not just from the one source and all of them are entitled The Wise Maid. Of course a lot of them being traditional pieces could have their names changed down the years. It's quite possible it could have once been Doherty's Reel, then The Wise Maid or vice versa.
Sorry, I have this selection of reels also on a record and the real title is doherty's reel, maybe the wise maid, looks almost the same, but it isn't it.
god bless John Sheahan and the rest of the dubs !

@synthpathetic Sounds like he just did a simple trill on that F#. When I play this reel on whistle I do the same ornament.

@synthpathetic Why? Will it ruin your impression of the performance, if someone dislikes it?

It is the wise maid, also known as cooleys. However its not uncommon for tunes to be known by different names

It's the same tune. It's normally known as the Wise Maid but The Dubliners' label it on their albums as Doherty's. So you're all right
