Usually if you've got something going on in the background, such as uploading videos onto youtube then it makes everything slower.

I had the same problem. I started uploading videos and closed the screen, but the application still runs in the background. So it wasn't til they were finished it went back to normal.

But it could be anything. A virus, spyware etc would also slow down the computer.
