You are all right - different events contrubuted to the ban of DDT, the hippies, Rachel Carson etc.The events which lead to the ban of DDT are set out in the new documentary 3 Billion And Counting (check on youtube/3billionandcounting). IT is crazy to ban a life saving insecticide. The future does not look great - check africasciencenews(dot)org, the article is called "Experts in favour of tighter rules for DDT use against malaria".To help bring back DDT spread the word about 3BillionAndCounting
Those of you in the deep deep south, especially Florida, are going to learn about Malaria firsthand... and, of course, Burmese pythons and anacondas are going to battle it out for supremacy of the everglades until the marine crocodiles show up.
Why aren't Americans ever worried about issues in their own home? Malaria and West Nile in the homeland could be controlled by DDT too. Talk to people who are living in nursing homes, hospitals, etc. who are overrun by uncontrollable bed bugs about why DDT was banned as the bugs fall from their ceilings and climb on them in their own homes.
@TIMOTHYBROCKWELL, with nearly 7billion people, let's chill it out. 3 billion as we had in 1960 is much more enjoyable, more elbow room. Save lives, save lives!!!!,....why??? there are much too many.
@TIMOTHYBROCKWELL, we are not killing, got that? Nice elbow room, not slums. Not squalor. Some thinning of population is good if people wantonly propagate. About 3 billion in 1960. Nearly 7 billion now.

@TheFartWorks I agree. We need to kill off the population. Malaria and AIDS is good for the world.

DDT is harmless. Stupid hippies are responsible for the genocide of 60 million people.

Don't blame hippies. Go to the source.
Blame Rachel Carson in her book, "Silent Spring" and the inaccurate science it was based upon.
