  • Perfect explanation Ato

  • his explanations really make a lot of sense. so thanks ato! :D

  • awesome!

  • great explanation. and coming from a champ at the distance

  • music?

  • i get 25.6 now and i just cmoe bk from a 3months injury and i got a pb unexpecteadly and im getting bak to fitness so i want to get a sub 25.3 and ill use this race plan

  • This is all BS. You sprint 100% the entire 200m. If you can't then you need to work on your endurance so that you can.

  • @accord21 U are totally wrong it is impossible to sprint 200m 100% the whole way no human alive can do that. you half to do what is known as floating in parts of the race (keeping leg speed without puting in as much effort) if you think im wrong go and do some research and you will find im right. So dont bother replying saying im wrong.

  • @Flyinglawnmower812 You are wrong. It is possible to run with maximum effort the entire time in a 200m sprint and that is what is needed in the 200m. Floating is not needed in a 200m sprint unless you have weak endurance.

  • @accord21 ok perhaps u misunderstood if you run flat out from the gun you can not keep accelerating the whole way you will have slowed down when you go past the line, that is why it is you half to float so you do not tighten up the last 100m of the race!

  • @Flyinglawnmower812 You are totally right. Maybe the only word you did use to explain to @accord21 was FLOATING. This word may be do confuse to go down the frecuency of steps in the race. You have a world champion explaining how to excecute the race and it is impossible not to pay atention what he says.

  • @accord21 how many world championships have you won then?

  • all this about lactic acid or whatever is it true because i dont get pain anymore in 200 or 100m is this good.

  • im 11 and i run 26.50 in the 200m an 12.21 in the 100m i think thats good but my family still wants better i need help how can i get my time down

  • @MultiTrackstar123 man your ahead for your age i didnt run 12.2 till i was in 8th grade now im one of the fastest high school sprinters in the nation if you want check my channel..you cant do much do to your age to get faster doin your training and stretching is all you can do get faster when your in high school starting to run for a scholarship really hit the weights and you'll find ways to get faster remember one thing in track in field one workout may work for so and so but may not for you

  • @MultiTrackstar123

And what do you run now.

  • @TheGatorRade i 13 now and i run 23.98 200m and 11.32 100m .

  • @MultiTrackstar123 If you really do run that fast, how did you get that fast.

  • @MultiTrackstar123 im 12 and 9.7 and 19.6

  • @MultiTrackstar123 it is possible my fren who is 13 he ran a 11.76 for a 100 and 24... for 200m i can show u the video

  • @MultiTrackstar123 type this on the search bar 100m Final C Boys 52nd National Inter School Track & Field Championships 2011

  • yuh sexi fukkkk!

  • im 14 and i run 25.95 and 12.41 ,has anyone got tips on how to get better?

  • @TheAndre500 Try to work on your corestability, this way you'll have good basics and off course what is important to is your running technique.

What works besides that is a coach who works with energy systems, good luck

  • good advice :D

    thanks

  • in 2006 23.51 and in 2007, not yet 18years old, i ran in 22,91...made me think that something good was happening....the pity is that i couldn't beat that time anymore

  • My coaches tell me to sprint the whole thing out, and i try to tell them that im going to "die" in the last bit of the race.

  • @quishia Same here. My meet last Friday I used this tip in this video and that cost me my race and I got last place.

  • @quishia i ran alot of 200m in the day. one day i decided to consciously relax and not try to push- but maintain and accept some slowing down and not try to fight it. i took 1s (!!!) off my PB and went into the low 22s. up to that point i was going all out but trying to push through the final 80-90m and running low 23s. i never pushed the final straight again and went from heats to finals without fail.

  • @quishia ur coach can't even be called a coach! That's not how u run a 200, it's not physically possible! There are different phases of the 200, that are very important! I'll send you the link to your inbox, coz i cant do it here, when i press post with the link, it says: "error, try again" over and over

  • I never did have a good start, still don't. But I always catch them about 150m into the race.

  • This video is helping me out big time

  • yea, when i run how i usually run (96% on start) i get tired around the last 50m and my body wont let me go 100%

  • me too :(

  • "Ato Boldon explains the 100m "

have a look at this one. so gooood

  • haha

  • no 1 cares what ur times are lol!

  • was this hand timed?

  • God damn it! I meant "a month before he turned 16" of course.

  • lol he did it in 2002 a month before he turned 15! In that case I threw 78,33m with the 5kg hammer when I was 16, instead of my 74,45. Please! And by the way he ran 20,58 one month and three days before he turned 16, so he had 20,58 when he was "15".

  • ok ok , i was a bit off calm down shit,

  • Comment removed

  • 16 yo 20.58. when he was 15 he ran 21,73. So 14 yo 20,58 false story.
