  • recently I held a magnet near the pick up on a bass guitar. It BLOCKs all detection of an oscillating string. Upon similar lines here, as the magnet goes over the Rodin, the oscillation is stopped because the coils are prevented from oscillating. So the magnet on the pendulum is not inducing currents to help light the LEDs .. but rather is squelching the oscillation as it passes.

  • That last bit in slow mo with rotation magnet and light bars that end and start again is brilliant!!

  • yes ... nicely done. Rave Rodin. :-)

  • How do you connect it? Can you provide a small diagram, or explain where the first ( A1-A2) and 2nd ( B1-B2) rodin coil winds connect to? Great job, handsome coil. I have wound a couple, usng #30 gauge ( 27 winds) and #26 gauge, ( 18 winds )

    aloha

  • Great videos!!!!

What happens if you put one of the small fluorescent lights through the center of the coil?

  • With this joule thief there's not a significant amount of voltage for a fluorescent tube, although I would think if you wound 1 of the windings more than the other such as a 3-1 ratio, there would be a step up in voltage and you could light a tube.

  • I wonder how 2 rodin coils would act on each other. saw some other guy playing with magnets with coil. Nice vid a always.

  • Great Video Wavefront101.

I woundered how a Rodin coil would work in a JT circuit.

    Thanks for posting.
