I like to bring my right shoulder back as I do the back swing then drive through the cue ball like I am trying to kill someone with a javelin and I have broken so hard with this technique I broke a chip out of the cue ball and had to buy the pool hall a new ball. It's just like a baseball player when they pull back their shoulder when they are throwing a baseball at top speed and it works great. Without the pull back of the shoulder you are mostly just using your arm.
