The cat of my girlfriend of sm floated in the sea while they established tent on coast!
It from early age very much loved water. Sat in a washstand under a jet of water, has then jumped in a bath with water when it was going to bathe........ It is a rarity. But it was the most usual cat whom a small kitten have picked up in the street..........
More... it's animal nature, ANY ANIMAL. To do anything to save themselfs. It is called FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL. Check it out on google... So OF COURSE THE CAT CAN SWIM and will do it to save himself!!!!!!!!!!
I really hate when people try to make excuses to do animal cruelty. This is cruel. You say you want to put your cat into different situations so he'll know what to do. Ok, fair enough. But this is cruel because you only needed to put the cat into water one time to see that we knows what to do. And he knows it so well that the time you put him into water we'll try to get off. My cats jumps into the pool when i'm on it but he plays with me a little bit, around me and then gets off. Stupid people
Cats are not supposed to go in water, and they shouldn't be washed either. It's bad for their skin and fur, as water washes away their natural oils. They only have the swimming instinct for survival, in case they fall in water. Please, don't put your cats in the pool.
Oops - posted that on the wrong video, because I sat and watched quite a few . . . but you knew what I meant anyway - right? I suspect the folks here who are complaining about the cats swimming aren't familiar with the amount of experience you have with the breed and members of the breed who swim.
@LPChirrup yes, i understood what you meant! are you really going to try it on Splashman? if so, I want to see it! When is he going to be featured as Ragdoll of the Week? and i think everyone is entitled to their opinion - it probably isn't their favorite thing to do but they are not bothered by it for long!
May I ask why you guys are making your kitties swim in the pool? I'm pretty sure cats can swim naturally and don't need to be taught to swim. I guess I just feel bad for the cats cause they really don't like it and even worst, when they reach the edge, they get pulled back to the center. :/
@dreamynights I know it may seem cruel, but I have talked to animal communicators about it and the cats aren't too bothered by it - do it for two reasons - exercise and also to get them used to swimming. We go to a lake for Thanksgiving every year and I want them to be accustomed to swimming in case anything ever happens. Caymus, in this video, hadn't swam in 5 years - it is a rare occurence that this happens. Thanks for your concern.
@FergusonTO35 nuss got tested for diabetes today because he weighed over 18 lbs! he needed the exercise but hadn't had breakfast. he is a good sport and a sweetheart!

@GeoffBlackmore i would imagine the chlorine can't be good either...it's not really good for people to begin with, but we can thoroughly wash it off!
