there are bad drivers everywhere. of course you will see more of them when you get into bigger cities. the more people you have the more bad drivers you will have. I hate bad drivers as much as anyone but what can you do.
I Live In Mobile, And I Drive This Bridge Everyday On My Way Too School In Daphne/Spanish Fort, And This Video Made Everything Seem So Much Longer Then It Really Is Haha
love your videos! they are awesome, it makes me sad because I can see the stupid slow people driving in the left lane, tought it was a Texan thingm but I can see it's spread all over the country, keep 'em coming~
Went through this bad boy Wednesday night to Florida, and back through again Sunday on the way home. I've heard about this tunnel, but this was my first 2 times through it. Whatever you're listening to on the radio officially goes dead once you're in the tunnel.
Got caught in traffic jam in the middle of tunnel for 30 minutes. People began to honk their horns until everyone was doing it. When it would stop, we would start it all up again. Inside that tunnel it sounded kinda' wild. We were bored. What music is this?
I drove on that road in 1983 whilst on holiday from the UK heading for California from New York via Houston delivering an Oldsmobile somethingorother on "You drive our car for free if you deliver it to our new house etc deal " cant remember the exact phrase. There was a truck drivers strike at the time I recall.
Just looking for info on Gustav and ran into this. I was born and raised in Mobile! The very first day the GW tunnel opened, I drove my Honda 550(four) super sport through it at 100mph - what a dummy! I also remember the time the banana truck overturned dumping chiquitas all over the interstate. We called the bayway, "the slab." I live in Virginia now and have not been to home in nearly ten years! This video and comments brought back many good memories! Thanks All!
Oh man how I miss Mobile. I go to Samford now in B'ham and it's just not the same. After I work in B'ham for a while I'm going to move back, I miss everything about my hometown!
Its hard not to laugh. Oh god and all the ugly "donks" They should put a picture of a donk on the state license plate. lol. Also the state doesnt recycle.
no offense but alabama drivers are fucking dumb drivers. alabama should be renamed "the no turn signal state". turn signals are on a car for a reason and 90 percent of the state doesnt use them when they change lanes or make turns. thats wreckless driving. im sure they used them on there road tests. even the dam cops dont use them!
piranhaleg, haha so true the first time i went there to drive im like what the f*ck where was your damn turning signal... almost got into a wreck because of it to. but meh i still love it in mobile al im moveing there so yeah....
@piranhaleg i live in mobile alabama i think im the only one that uses my turn signals. also some people that arent used to our driving conditions line lousianna florida and mississippi are also terrible drivers in alabama.
Rewatching this video tonight made me suddenly remember going through Mobile so many darn years ago! Thanks for uploading this video, especially since it helped me remember going through both the causeway and the downtown Mobile tunnel(aka George Wallace Tunnel) all over again. Happy New Year too, btw.
I live in Daphne too. I do this drive every stinking morning ha! In fact I was in a wreck half way across the bridge during morning rush hour maybe a month ago.
lol ok i drive this alll the time when i go from midtown [where i live] to foley/g. shores/ daphne where a lot of my friends live and i would never think to make a vid of it lol... i guess koz it's not interesting to me anymore... and i usually take the bayway not 10 koz out of state ppl cant drive on 10 right they drive slow n gawk too effin much lol
actually you'd take I-10 East bound if you are going from midtown to the beach, etc..haha not trying to be a bitch just saying. I drove this route everyday from the eastern shore to mobile for school, ugh, morning traffic was the worst! I prefer the causeway but you can't go as fast
I didnt mean I take I-10 west when I go from midtown to the beach.... I meant I take I-10 period.... but mostly now that I've lived here longer I go the bayway too and I speed lol
If I'm in a huge hurry I will take I-10 half way then jump over to the causeway. A tad quicker. But I work downtown, that would be a bit silly if you had to jump right back on I-10 at the tunnel.
I just love all the brake lights coming on in the tunnel. It drives me crazy how people slam on breaks the minute they get into the tunnel, that's why I usually take the bankhead....
I-10 skirts through Downtown and along Mobile's industrial waterfront, before transitioning to a more suburban landscape just past the I-65 interchange.
lol!! nice video!

@supercamishow I've found to be the case with most any freeway tunnel, very odd.

jelisof 3 years ago 2
the roads downtown are a nighmare. horribly unorganized, trees blocking the traffic lights from view, heavy traffic.
Though, I've been lost countless times all over the South. It ain't nothing to panic about. Just pull over and get directions or a map/phone.
