Yes both were very comfortable with luxurious interiors but their unreliability was just astonishing. @gonzccs I'm pretty sure a jeep's 4.0 straight 6 is more reliable than the toyotas, and will last longer. I've seen them with 400,000+ miles on them, so maybe you should know what you're talking about before you TRY to put US 4x4 down. By the way, Jeep started the 4x4, i'm pretty sure they know what the hell they're doing, and they are one of the best, if not the best, 4x4 out there, they're one of the most capeable 4x4's ever
@Declipse16 I know what I´m talking about... I grew up in between 4x4 cars in Venezuela, where almost all the cars are American ones... I even had a full size Bronco with the 5.0EFI... So I know the american engineering from the inside... There are a few things more reliable than a Toyota or a Nissan, and there are few things with more precise engineering than british and german... USA knows how to mix reliability and good engineering but they still not the best at any of those two.

I never knew Toyota has the 4.7 in Europe. Thats the same engine in my Mom's 2001 Toyota Sequoia (only sold in the Americas) In fact, a Sequoia was in a top gear episode, that one were Jeremy was almost launched off of the cliff in south America, that white SUV was a Sequoia! Cool, never knew that it was in Europe!

rangies are the best. my dad had a 1992 RR and it lasted until 2004 when it finally died. He got a 2004 Westminster to replace it and its great. Its basically a BMW engine
@chillaxer1993 but that implies that that RR lasted only 12 years. My Mitsubishi Pajero 2.5TD was 20 years and 650,000 km driven, on the same engine, when I parted with her, and she was still MOT'ed as roadworthy. I never had any big issues with the Pajero other than replacing the stock leaf springs with heavy-duty pickup springs. I doubt any RR would have been that reliable.
Jeremy, 98 was a great year to buy a Jeep ZJ!!!!! They came out with the 5.9 liter V8 that one year only. It did 0-60 under 7 seconds and was the worlds fastest SUV until 2006, when the Jeep SRT-8 came about. Not only that, but its a Jeep!

No matter what anybody says... Toyota´s LAnd Cruisers and Nissan´s Patrol are definitevly the most reliable 4x4 ever made... The thing is that USA´s 4x4 are good, but not the best at nothing, the most reliable are the japanese ones and the most capable, refined and stylish ones are definitively the RR´s, and then there still comes the G class of MB... so... USA, I´m sorry, you definitevly know how to make cars, but your cars are not the best ones on any kind of field. By the way, I still love RR

@gonzccs I'm pretty sure a jeep's 4.0 straight 6 is more reliable than the toyotas, and will last longer. I've seen them with 400,000+ miles on them, so maybe you should know what you're talking about before you TRY to put US 4x4 down. By the way, Jeep started the 4x4, i'm pretty sure they know what the hell they're doing, and they are one of the best, if not the best, 4x4 out there, they're one of the most capeable 4x4's ever

@Declipse16 I know what I´m talking about... I grew up in between 4x4 cars in Venezuela, where almost all the cars are American ones... I even had a full size Bronco with the 5.0EFI... So I know the american engineering from the inside... There are a few things more reliable than a Toyota or a Nissan, and there are few things with more precise engineering than british and german... USA knows how to mix reliability and good engineering but they still not the best at any of those two.

@moneywagon1 That might be true... but the fact that in Africa you'll see a lot more toyota than anything else, haves much more to do with after sale services, garages, pieces and knowledge around than what haves to do with the fact that toyota makes probably the most reliable 4x4. But anyway, everybody that can buy ANY car, when the time comes to buy a 4x4 with real offroad capabilities, the always choose only one. There is not even need to name it again.

@gonzccs. i will have to disagree with you about toyota making the most reliable 4x4. Its Jeep with there 4.0L inline 6 Engine and the engine is known to reach 600k miles. The 4.0L inline 6 Engine is considered One of the Best Engines Ever Built.

my moms 86' mustang 256,000 miles....still going strong, besides the clutch ( after 16 years ) and oil changes...0$ in repairs
my dad's old 1989 jeep. 447,000 miles, its now retired as a backyard basher...0$ on repairs...tho the ball joints are squeaking now.

I never knew Toyota has the 4.7 in Europe. Thats the same engine in my Mom's 2001 Toyota Sequoia (only sold in the Americas) In fact, a Sequoia was in a top gear episode, that one were Jeremy was almost launched off of the cliff in south America, that white SUV was a Sequoia! Cool, never knew that it was in Europe!

I don't know... I love range rovers. And How bigger, how better. And people always say that land cruisers are the best off roaders. But I don't know... for some reason I don't like land cruisers. Range rovers are cooler I think. I don't know wich I like better. the range rover has impressed me my entire life.

rangies are the best. my dad had a 1992 RR and it lasted until 2004 when it finally died. He got a 2004 Westminster to replace it and its great. Its basically a BMW engine

@chillaxer1993 but that implies that that RR lasted only 12 years. My Mitsubishi Pajero 2.5TD was 20 years and 650,000 km driven, on the same engine, when I parted with her, and she was still MOT'ed as roadworthy. I never had any big issues with the Pajero other than replacing the stock leaf springs with heavy-duty pickup springs. I doubt any RR would have been that reliable.

Jeremy, 98 was a great year to buy a Jeep ZJ!!!!! They came out with the 5.9 liter V8 that one year only. It did 0-60 under 7 seconds and was the worlds fastest SUV until 2006, when the Jeep SRT-8 came about. Not only that, but its a Jeep!

That's a 98 Jeep grand Cherokee Limited 5.9, Only 15,000 were produced. It was the fastest SUV that year.
Might I remind you that Jeep has produced the best 4x4's for a long time, and also has a higher reliability rating that a Land Rover or Range Rover.
