for me they only produced 2 quality albums. myth of rock and Friendly Fa$cism. after that it was pretty much downhill for them. the first EP on zoth-o-mog was great as well.
I guess the only one con side that would compare would be Ted Nuggent. And yes I like the music from both! But I can not agree with Ted, and as much of a Lib that I am I can't agree with Consolidated.
Believe it or not, Frank Zappa was known to be quite conservative. Which is strange as he also disliked authority (the police were pretty rotten to him back in the 50s/60s)
@Sesquipedaliantique Remember that Conservatives tend to be VERY anti- "Big" government. But ironically, Conservatives represent "big business" which buy, sell & trade politicians like baseball cards!
Ah, Consolidated. Great music that's sullied by the "Everything Sux" excuse for a political message. The same guys who bitch people out for wearing animal skins, but when asked about their sneakers, make the excuse that leather gives the best support. (Yes, true story).
Could you please point out the interview and source?
Could you tell me in what song they're bitching people for wearing animal skin?
If they were bitching; in what context they were bitching people for wearing animal skin. Was it because they just think it's unethically or was it because of how poisoning leathertreatingchemicals are dumped in nature?
Were they using sneakers fully or partially made of leather?
Awerling...So, it's an old story, it doesn't make it any less telling. And yes that's all I have. Sorry, I don't stalk them.
disannAPP.. You know, I don't know what the moon phase was either. It was reported on the radio from multiple sources back in oh, the early 90's. And they were (at least at the time) strict vegetarians.
There was also a video for "Cutting" which was on youtube a few months back but since disappeared. I'd love to see the "Tool and Die" video again -- I only saw it once when they were on tour with The Goats, in Chicago. I also saw them in Nashville with MC 900 Ft. Jesus and Artis the Spoonman. Really great shows!
Wow! Thanks for posting!! I saw them in 1991 opening for Meat Beat Manifesto in Philly...Friendly Fascisim tour...had an open forum type thing after the set...Really opened my eyes to many issues....I believe there are videos for "Unity of oppression" and "Tool And Die" yes?? Thanks again!

@theyhavedoneusin buying their CD will not support this band, but going to a live show of them or buying it directly from them will.

@AntiMusick i used to go to their shows. didn't know they still existed.
i'd venture that if they weren't political, they'd be famous. good dance music with a lyrical song structure? pfffff.

@jaseins Mmm, That sounds great, like decaf coffee & nonfat donuts washed down with some Coke Zero.
I'd rather have an artist be full of substance and unpopular than mass appeal with a catchy beat.

@theyhavedoneusin But that would be supporting capitalism and Consolidated is against capitalism. ;-)

I had a Myth Of Rock pressing that had some Cranberries album on it. Can't hear to Cranberries these days without thinking of Consolidated.

@djtahoe I think you're thinking of libertarians. Wait...I'm confused now. Politics is a fucking mess.

@Sesquipedaliantique Nope, I mean Conservatives/ Republicans.

@djtahoe Ahh that's why I got confused, I thought you meant the UK Conservative Party...I don't know much about US politics I'm afraid

That's a pretty old story.
Can you give more than one example? Or is that all you got?

those guys are all vegan and do not wear leather

I seem to recall them being criticised for being hypocrites. To which they agreed, 'Yes, but for the left'.

considering its extremely easy to find shoes made of all synthetic products (and it has been for decades) I'd love to see a source
