I agree with nicolezly that the scarf is dreadful: it masks the line of the arms; the way it starts from the nape of the neck masks the line of the head and neck. It should be banned!
I think the mariinsky shade scarf is the most stupid of all designs, making their famous port de bras just stiff and clumsy no matter who dances in it (she is especially stiff because of her nerves). I prefer their non-decorative tutus though. Shades are product of guilt and grief, they should not bling-bling all the time.
@dancer4freakinlife i agree. although she could be awkward partly because whatever she has around her arms is attached to her bun, she may have been afraid to move very much and that might be why she's so stiff and awkward
I'm sorry, this is not so good. The develope side is really awkward stopping in coupe, she has no control over her balances- barely rolls through her feet. And while she has beautiful lines it looks like the whole thing is a struggle.
Thank you for posting this gala. I think Vasnetsova is a lovely dancer, but I would have preferred Kondaurova. Her third shade variation should be forever saved on film!

This is such a demanding variation. The ballerina has to be super good to dance it properly and make it look pretty.

I love pas de bouree couru (sp?). I just love the way the tutus shake when they fun on pointe in first position. So Cute!!!

Not that I know of. I've only seen Kondaurova dancing this variation live and it's very special. I hope it makes its way to youtube at some point :-)
