Can people please stop saying this is European. This is English... have you ever heard European music? like the frog song and other cheese? OK, that's a huge stereotype... but it's NWOBHM.. British Heavy Metal. Not EHM.
I love it how some American's casually change it to: New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal lol.
When people say European Metal, I instantly think of Power Metal as the movement that characterizes it the most. The style came out of the NWOBHM but was mostly populated by bands from the continent. Bands like Helloween, Stradivarius, Blind Guardian, and the plethora of Italian bands were a force in the mid to late 80s, and made a very European sounding music.
And its not "English" its "British" otherwise it could be EHM - English Heavy Metal...
stop comparing these NWOBHM gods to metallica. they are fuckin different. yes, we know that they where a big influence to metallica but this doesn't mean that we should compare em. just bang your head and dont give a fuck about anything.
It's not the fact that Metallica covered songs they liked that generates hatred(such a strong word, is it not?) but the fact that some of their "fans" search out every original that was covered, only to come to the retarded conclusion that, "Oh, Metallica's version was better, these guys suck". I can't tell how many times I've seen this and how much it just pisses me off man. So anger is then generated.
Fantastic song. I was fortunate to get it on a Japanese edition of "A Time Of Changes" as a bonus track, along with the 1981 version of "Blitzkrieg". I agree, the vocals are kick-ass!
The vocals are awesome. The band is awesome. The song is awesome. Just listen instead of whining about Metallica or about what genre of music this is.
@M08bballer lol ya, the gay scandinavian 1 is wat im talking bout, i wudnt call it gay though, more like, dreadful, thers very few bands from that area that are actually decent, id say the good black metal was Venom, Bathory,Celtic Frost/Hellhammer,Emperor,Samael, and thats about it for me
It's really annoying people keep comparing metallica and blitzkrieg just because metallica covered a song of theres. Metallica was a godly band back in the 80's so stop stating that blitzkrieg is better and just appreciate both bands.
guess they didnt had the recognision they would want..when you see people that is as good as you become rich and famous while you are stucked on a shitty bar playing for 20 drunk metalheads you may say..fuck off or you can keep trying...everybody thinks making good songs its enough..well..its not!!! the road and da gigs arent for everyone
@disturbedspike Hey kid Im a few years older than you...and Im no Metallica mark or anything, I'm just a realist.
Im not gonna say Blitzkreig better simply because Metallica's more obvious, and have pissed me off a few times. I'm gonna say Metallica's better, because they are. There's a reason why nwobhm bands paled in comparison when Metallica put out Kill em all in '83 (except for Iron maiden, of course)
Lets not be musically retarded
They were an influence...but not better, not for a second
@sepulmattica1 No Blitzkrieg is better, Meh-tallica was and still overrated, and i doubt you are 34. " Metallica's better, because they are" what a poorly concieved statement, Kill Em All isnt even entirely thrash, more into speed. And the album being released '83 doesnt mean it was really new (aside from a few songs) Exciter, Accept, Acid, and even Sodom were playing fast before they even released an album.
@disturbedspike Overrated, nah. If you were there when it all went down, you'd understand. Kill em all was a more of a Power metal album. But either way Venom, Sodom, and alot of other bands were playing fast before Metallica...and where were they all from? Europe.
They were the first American Band to up there tempos, and no, Slayer, Exodus, or anthrax, or Overkill werent playing as fast as they did later until they saw Metallica play. You seem set against Metallica, did they piss in your food?
@sepulmattica1 Who cares if they were the first American band to do it? Does that make those pussies special because they copied European bands before anybody else in America? Cool dude....
@sodomisticthrash Wouldnt say they copied Europian bands, since there was quite a difference between their style and the euro bands, but undeniable influence though.
On a serious note, why does Metallica covering a song that they really liked, from a band they really liked, before they were anybody generate so much hatred? I always thought it was pretty cool they wore their influences on their sleeves. But hey, it prolly just hurts you to give them any credit like the rest of the new millennium
I was born in the wrong generation.
