  • More voice cracks than a dry lake bed :P

  • I used to use this method all the time when I was in film school. I finally got my own tripod, so I'll have to try it out.

  • is light so costly in ur area,

  • nice job, dude!

  • Love the gliding effect...

  • Very nice video... going to give that a try when I get back home. (Traveling for work now.) I did a few walking videos... damned near got seasick watching them... tried using Vegas Video to steady them... now they look strange.

If this works, it will really improve my videos.

    Thanks!

    Jerry

  • Brilliant!!!! Thanx for the tip I never would have thought of that on my own

  • jstellar pictures: Cool dude . . but i got my steadycam at jstellarpictures(.)com hey cost way better then 500 dollar steadycams. Does me Justice

  • on what do you screw your camera so it doesnt fall of the rig?

  • That's f**king stupid

  • Mind the CamCaddie SPAM. If it WAS a grat product why do they spam for it?

  • This seems a little ineffective especially with fast movement, I suggest people to save up $38 and get a Cam Caddie Scorpion. It easily holds my camera and lights/mics/monitor if necessary. My videos have never looked so clean.

  • Cleverly disguised ad for Little Caesar's pizza.

  • congratulation!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is awesome...you have just save my 700 usd

  • those there be some nice nipples.

  • looks like you took a scene from MTV cribs.. nice vid

  • AWESOME DUDE!

  • Great idea. You are very young, yet brilliant!

  • 1:12 voice crack LOL

  • can i do this with any tripod ?

  • why aint u wearing a shrit xd

  • where did you get this music? i freakin love it..

  • That looks like a pretty nice camcorder but dont be surprised if it goes missing

  • your intro is too long!

  • i can show you how to make a real deal glidecam that is solid and "not" cheap ugly and fake like the other diy glidecams so write me if you all are ready to make a real one i will be posting a video this weekend so dont miss it cause im only going to leav it up for the weekend and then im going to take it down and see how fast this diy setup spreads

  • Thank you for sharing your ideas and footage. Great idea. None of my light tripod legs will extend out very far, but am going to try working with a Dolica Proline tripod (approx. $40), and adding weight to some monopods. I am also going to experiment with clamping on a stabilizer arm like the modification made in the "Smooth Moves - Cheap Steadicam MOD" video to see if it makes a signifcant difference. I am using the Panasonic TM700 small 1080p HD camcorder and Nikon D7000 primarily.

  • I run around shirtless all the time. And I'm over 40. If you have no away from home commitments, why bother dirty-ing the laundry? Think green... ;) For those of us who live in warmer climates anyway. At least warm for us.

I've heard of this method, but never really tried it. Adding mass by any means helps a lot for these modern things smaller than a coke can and less than a pound. But the holding at center mass was kind of an unfamiliar ideal. Good job.

  • awesome..... Never thought of that.....its all about counter weight btw.....

  • Nice job reckless. A lot of people would never have realized that be simply adding mass around the cameras perimeter would also add motion stability and the further from the camera the more stability. Thus a simple tripod with the legs opened, although not precise, will steady most any video camera. As for myself I'm going after the Steadicam Smoothee made by Tiffen. Google it but my guess is that you have already seen it.

  • attaboy! you're very young)

  • This is a pretty neat idea. I've seen people use monopods and tripods but not in this way, pretty cool.

To the people talking about being shirtless, lighten up people, you act like you've never seen a shirtless guy before. Sheesh, buncha freaks.

  • why is yur shirt off

  • hey, you are brilliant. This I must try. thanks for the advice. I have a similar tripod and can split legs 90 degrees, : )

  • Um... actually, you can see in the video that the arm on the rig IS supporting a lot of the weight. Looks like it actually would work with a small camera. Of course it would take a lot of practice but that's true even if you buy the rig for $8K.

  • Great, As if the cam would fly

  • And why are you faggot pedophiles looking at his body instead of paying attention to the point of the video?

  • Your house looks haunted.

  • looks smooth!

  • So do you have to hold it at 2 places?

  • Thanks for the tipps - very usefull - but if you wanna show your cute body in the internet you shoult at least earn some bucks whit it - there are so many wankers and desperate houswifes around - I think they should pay for it :-)

    Anyway -good job - kid!

    Greetings from Germany!

  • Nice house dude.

  • Very innovative!

  • the extended legs do give you more stabilization, i figured that out to, i was like O_o, i did the same exact thing equal stabilization side ways tripod

  • the extended legs do give you more stabilization, i figured that out to, i was like O_o

  • Really helpful video teaching the value of inertia loading and gimbal balance, much like old marine compasses and barometers employed. Clever and effective video. Thanks.

  • put a shirt on you tool

  • We dont need to see your stomach, and those abs are fake.

  • That is not zero cost still cost you to buy a tripod.

  • @chungdha not if you already have one..lol..but im sure that is not expensive. at all..like 10 to 15 bucks..its seems worth it though

  • y r u naked?

  • @cool13q lol..this made me laugh ^_^

  • Now thats some "the shining" shit!! Best mcgyver steadicam I've seen

  • Jumping! Jumping! 1:43

  • i tried it exactly the way you told me, still the tilting and moving continues, no smoothness like you do, please help !

  • at 2:45 you were running ?

  • reckless105, same smoothness and angles can be done if I hold a tripod with camera on, please ? To save money...

  • I find this kid to be wise beyond his years.

  • @Eatingpattern yeah men, he also looks different, it's something determined about himself, different then his fellows, ha ?

  • the first time they didn't show the fridge in cribs

  • Nice job! I've built 2 galvanized pipe steadi's, in which I've dubbed ghettoglide. Its not nearly as nice as this. So Vanguard Alta 2, eh?

  • Hi, great video!

Do you really do this with a simple video camera rack?? Because i can't believe it. :)

  • pretty cool

  • this is sick man! definitely not a real steady cam but way better than hand held

  • im going to rob you

  • @kongloud try to rob me bud,i got a pump twelve waiting for u

  • @reckless105 i was jk. dont shoot urself.. btw good idea on the trypod

  • @reckless105 he thinks ghetto folks are the only one's with guns..us suburban types LOVE our guns...I alway shave a loaded 38 among others stashed all over my house..ready to blow anyone away! I target practice in my yard near the woods!!

  • @oneminutehorrorfilms ahah i couldnt agree with u more

  • @reckless105 so how big is that , is that a typical 50 inch tripod? it looks lilttle like it just for putting on a table does it extend?

  • @reckless105 LMFAo

  • @reckless105 I'm going to rape you.

  • nice house :D

  • @kongloud someone already did, they stole all his shirts

  • What do you use a tripod?

  • Did this 20 years ago! Glad your idea has spanned two decades. The problem I had was bumping into just about everything!!

    Keep it going kid!!

  • Nice job. And nice house as well. Your kitchen is bigger than my flat! :-)

  • lol, how old are you? with the pecks and your face, you look young...

  • @princeNabil1998 this was 2 years ago

  • @reckless105 how did you even get those!! oh ya, btw, very great tip!

  • @princeNabil1998 Hi, I'm Chris Hansen, and we're doing a story on adults.....

  • This is pretty cool, I would like to try it but my tripod legs don't go out straight and they are tied together (It's at least ten years old). You should try this with one of the new high definition cams, because my shots were pretty steady (or so I thought) until I moved from DV to HD. Was this idea in the user manual for the tripod, or were you just experimenting with it, trying to get a steadier shot?

  • bravo... amazing bro...

  • beautiful !

  • what is your tripod?

  • now, combine this with an office chair, and you have perfect dolly shots

  • wow, I just tried it with my tripod, and it works. that saves me 200 bucks I wanted to spend on a steadytracker

  • @MrLouKaas yea bro glad you are taking full use of this!

  • Put some bicycle tubing on it...and then you know whre to grab it exactly...thats pretty smart!

  • Just tried this with my T2i and a bogen 501 head. It worked really, really well. Awesome tip! With the leg kicked out for stability, it's not tiring at all, either. Thanks!

  • camera man looks sexy with cap XD

  • hell.. is sooo smooth.. good grip!

  • wow that's so cool man, it's so smooth! didn't expect that! it's like you're shooting a HD movie in jour house! :P (without the HD camera tho) let's call it HD smoothness! :D

  • A lot. 2 words. Fix the description. Now.

  • geee....Thx a lot man!!

  • The only thing I need stabilizer for is when I walk, run, or ride a bike...and want to prevent jumping up and down.

Does this stabilizer provide this ? I think not because you can move camera with your hand up and down - so it wan't prevent when you hole body (with hand) will go up and down when you walking.

    Am I wrong ?

So, what for are these all home-made stabilizers ?

  • put a weight or two on the bottom of your tripod and you'll get rid of some of the swinging, it'll make it harder for you to hold but the effect you are going for will be alot better

  • Genius! And nice house by the way))

  • @mrwhitemanvideo Agreed

  • How much did you pay for you vanguard?

  • if i notice it says" fucking new THEORY", im not reinventing the world, just improving a old idea...

  • @reckless105 its a dam good idea and looks very good and it is what it is,,,steady cam....maybe ill use ur idea to make some comedy?.if i do ill send u the vid incase you wanna share it with others...i was thinking about making a rig to get high shots, but ur idea looks like fun and i like the way it flows back n fourth...good job man..here is a tip, dont even argue with dummies over the net cuz ya cant win,..dont be affected by them

  • @d0n77 Yea I definitely understand what your saying about not getting upset, and yea feel free to recreate my idea. Im currently developing some rigs that hopefully i can sell for a low price for young filmmakers!

  • Great video!

  • Good job!

  • So... basically what you meant by "zero cost" was the price of a tripod...

  • Yeah a bit like a toy plane with a cam on it flown with remote . thats fun

  • So what you basicly made was a camera on a tripod?

  • These shots are really good. Compared to some shots made with pro gear only prove that it really isn't the gear that do the work, it is the guy operating it , compensating at the right moments. Using the gear as a delicate piece of china or a cup of hot tea simply will produce good results.

  • To all these Stupid people below who are clearly brainless . this is a creative kid at home on a most probably HOT day with a b ball cap . stop focusing on him and concentrate on what he's explaining , so far this seems pretty clever as simple as it is...

  • lol It's so funny to see how people have problems with the human body . beleiver? Religious people? Me the only thing I don't want to see on video is a fat person. -

reckless105 stay in shape and keep having fun doing what you like!

  • I like how the video is all dark making it hard to see what the hell is going on...

  • Next time I wont see a naked guy for this sort of things...

  • Why are you not wearing a shirt dude?

  • I love the house

  • why arent you wearing a shirt? :O

  • @Devellx

    cuz he thinks he's cool.

  • @sprayframe yep, and he is wrong. In my opinion it was kinda pathetic.

  • That tripod were you using?

  • y are you not wearing a shirt? good vid though

  • yea very easy stuff, but for jump starting your filming projects is a great application..

  • Very nice! Great house too...lucky dude!

  • Very Nice Application!!!!......My friend constructed a "steady cam" rig awhile back using some electrical conduit and caps and other stuff......Works great!!!!....I've seen several ideas similar to yours and yes......They all work great........Cool house too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very clever and useful. Thanks

  • Very good video, but next time put some clothes on! =-)

  • @kurono1988 he has six pack so who gives a shit?

  • Nice footage in the end...

  • It's like a sot from MTV cribs. Pretty Cool.

Thanks 4 sharin. Appreciate it mate. =)

  • really smooth steady shots! But that only works with tripods whos legs aren't connected to the middle pipe. Thanks for the advice. I was looking for a new tripod anyway. And that one seems to be perfect :)

  • wow cool tip

  • thats tight, actually works

  • you are a genius.

  • You're a smart kid. Thanks for the tip

  • I mean for a quick steady cam on a pinch or on the cheap it works pretty good. If you need one to use once and a while hey it works. Its not perfect by any means but its about 80% better than a handheld camera doing the same movements. So to the guy gjhj786997jhgf I think you failed. For a "Free" price and something like this is better than no Steadycam use in video footage were you need it I say this kid that made this did a great job.

  • well let's see. This, or $2,000 for a real steady-cam counterweight that does the same thing....hmmmmmm

  • i was skeptical at first, but surprised to see your idea in action. and btw, where do you live? nice neighborhood man

  • nyc mate

  • good job...

  • Great job reckless. And beautiful home too I might add. :)

  • i like it

    Richtig qeiL

    Respeckt^^

  • This is a very nice tutor....thanks for a sample

  • very nice...!!

  • You see, I'm too flabby to do the jump up and down move w/o a shirt. But this does look pretty good.

  • nice work.

  • i know where u live man.

  • Actually this is a different version of steady cam...more perfected with specific tripod

  • u look like u guys have alot of money ,why dont u just buy one

  • hei dude nice work!!!!

  • Put your clothes on son, nice house and btw, great video.

  • what's the point of this?

you're just repeating what the real zero cost steadycam guy says!

    poser...

  • not bad! take it from me a professional, look out for your horizon

  • Great idea... thanks.

  • This is simply brilliant. I tried it on a cheap (crappy) but lightweight tripod - and it works beautifully. So as long as the legs will extend horizontally, you can buy the cheapest one. :) And post production stabilizing is no substitute for quality footage.

  • a simple question - why did you shoot it in the dark...or why did you use an aumtomatic mode - why not manual exposure

  • thanks for the idea.

    ありがとうございます。

  • humm, Im guessing iMovie stabilizing feature.... still is zero cost ahhahaha

  • nah man, i tried it, works great

  • I think he used either imovie to stabalize, or adobe after effects. (yeah, i think he cheated! lol)

  • damn... so smooth!

  • So Cool!!! And so professional. I don't mind without the shirt, really being a cool and easy pro....hahah. Great Stuff!

  • Very , very good, congrats.

  • put a shirt on

  • @hawhawdecarabaw noooooooooooooo

  • Man , whats the tripod model plz ??

  • true

  • Great idea! Beats the one that I made out of pipe and 5 lb weight.

  • GR8 idea! Thx a bunch!

  • VERY GOOD SON ! !!!

  • Looks Good... The whole time I watched this video I couldn't help but notice that your house looks almost identical to that of a friends... Kinda creppy.

  • you are good mate ;)

  • ewan churva man dong!

  • great lighting rertard

  • EXCELLENT je ss etudiant ( i am student of cinema in france ) en cinéma en france et on navait jamais pensé a sa MERCI ! THANKS KEEP cool

  • Yes the tripod is still available online at Tiger Direct,as soon as I get the url i will post!

  • It's true I tried it and ot works really fine!!

  • Hi, where did you buy it at? Online? Store?

It looks like it's unavailable online :(

  • awesome house and subdivision you live in :)

  • Actually it is very possible, I would have taken another camera and filmed me as I went around the house, but i only have one camera'

  • mmm if you not having the gimbal.. it's very impossible that you can having this fluidity...... (?)

If you not haven gimbal... you can delete the up/down shock... but not the side-to-side shok
