  • Can we agree we are all human, and that at sometime, somewhere and some point on different parts of the world, two HUMANS thought of the same technique. Just because it's from Asian doesn't mean it's better and vice versa for Europe. We've built up kung fu and martial arts to be MAINLY from Asian influence. Fact is, it's not.

Or am I asking far to much of you intelligent youtube users?

  • @ZivWar

Fact is, body mechanics transcend culture. Just because you are practicing judo like throws with your european longsword doesn't mean its influenced. Somebody found something that worked, and then someone across the world found the same thing (or similar)

  • @ZivWar Well...Someone in Asia could've of thought of the "punch" and another person in Europe could've also thought of the "punch". Yet the punches developed in the adjacent continents are different (traditional boxing and Wingchun. And their effictiveness depends on the situation and environemnt. And actually.... Kung Fu isss to be mainly from Asian Influence....There is only 1 kungfu style that was developed out of Asia.....There was another one developed in SE Asia. But that still counts

  • this does not work

  • @doublexz Yes it does, this technique embodies the principle of centre, an idea crucial to every form of combat.

There's a technique just like it in sojutsu (Japanese spear fighting) which I've preformed and trust as effective.

  • @doublexz Just because you might not know how to perform this doesn't mean it doesn't work.

  • hi neil lol

  • No chinese influence that we know of.

Most of our training is based on 'what works', modern european fencing, Meyer's 'unified theory of arms', and a little Fiore dei Liberi.

  • Obviously you're training in some kind of spear class here. How much historical European training are you doing, and how much Chinese influence have you taken on?

    Do you only study spear?

  • I am assuming this is for realistic display purposes, yes? There is no way these moves can be safely used on the re-enactment battlefield...
