How did you go about unwrapping UVs and painting the textures? UV unwrapping is so tedious and painting the texture seems so impossible. I always get artifacting.
Amazing models and texturing, but many parts of the models appear pitch black. You should add some ambient light or make textures slightly incandescent to lighten up those areas. Just look at Pixar's "Luxo Jr." animation. The ambient lighting shows no form in the shadow areas, but it's significantly more realistic than being plain or near black, and you could always add a subtle point light to bring out the form.
