I really would liked to see an actual disabled person try it out (if you need one, I'm free to contact! ;) ) It looks as if one would need to be at the very least a T-5 or T-6 injury to be able to utilize this product. Toileting would also be an issue. The idea of being eye level with others is very tantalizing! I'm excited to see this under development! :)
True Free energy devices exist,But the Oil companies want these technologies unknown to the masses,Find this technology at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Be part of the revolution!
I actually was asked to demo this unit and see how it would work out in the hotel industry. Being a hotel maid, I saw to be very benificial to keep me off my feet all day long. I could see myself being able to do most of maid duties in this, and since rooms are relatively big, I could easily get around furniture, vaccuum, make the beds, dust. What I found out it worked out very well, but I could not bend down nor do things like clean the tub or bathroom. I think waitressing it would work.
What will be the transport options? The Segway looks heavy to throw in the back of a vehicle! Great idea if it is user-friendly enough to transport to the mall, the office, a restaurant, grocery store, etc. Will a mechanical 'lift' be needed? Not every disabled person is a vet with government coverage for durable hardware items like this. Many are elderly, uninsured, single parents, etc. Will the final cost point be prohibitive for those who need it the most? Possibilities are great, though.
You should attach a long claw of something like it so the user can pick up things on the floor, and maybe make the device bendable a few degress to the front so the user can access things that are too low from his arm reach
As a disabled veteran (Thank you, Iraq...) I would love to see this come to fruition. I can now dream of walking my son to school, working in a regular office situation, and even being more comfortable (and having better circulation for my legs). Thank you for your innovation! I hope you survive this economic turndown until things perk up!
My goodness! That is the most awesome thing I have seen in a loooong time. So much hope for the disabled. Imagine being tall again after being in a wheelchair for a long time. From that altitude you command respect. Is this American innovation or Swiss or what?
Exmovere Holdings intends to develop the production version of the Chariot to be able to retract into a seated position so that is as easy to slide in and out of it as it is from a normal wheelchair.
Will it come in other colors? The blue makes him look like a mermaid or something. Maybe just a matte black for the whole thing. You don't want it to draw attention, and black goes with anything.
Exmovere Holdings is currently doing market research to determine which colors and form factor would appeal to our target markets. Thank you for the feedback.
One gets bored wearing the same colors all the time, no? So we can have a whole fashion line for the chariot. Chariot wear - I can just see it: ruffled skirts, a kilt...
May I have the exclusive rights for the first decade please?
As they said, this is a "prototype" is just a matter of adding additional tools to the chariot! If I were a disabled person, I will be AMAZED to be able to roll away, hands free and standing upward.... the last thing in my mind would be to pick up a dropped piece of paper!! ~
Done properly, this chariot could dramatically change lives for the disabled and amputees. The entry and exit would need more attention if used by the disabled. If going for a sitting option as well, I would like to see a back rest of some sort - who wants to sit straight all day.
Now, how do we address the needs of very tall or very short people? Would it come in sizes:)
Our company, Exmovere Holdings, is researching the possibility of making the Chariot telescope and retract also into a seated position. The idea is to make it as flexible as possible.
It would also be nice to add something that could pick up things on the ground because if you dropped something it would be pretty hard to pick it up while riding on it.
What I am wondering is whether and how a person with a standing/walking disability would stand in the chariot. If we assume the support would focus on the hips , then how exactly will that work? Has the chariot in fact been used by a disabled person and how did it work? ... Inquiring minds wanna know :)
Thank you for clarifying. As I said this is much more exciting than the Segway as it appears to be purpose built and not just for the lazy masses. Combined with advancement in EMG based prosthesis I really see this helping a lot of people.
The press release for the Chariot is careful not to use the words handicapped or paraplegic which is who I believe would benefit most from a product such as this.
If it is not designed and marketed as an alternative to a wheelchair for the disabled the Chariot will suffer the same fate as the Segway; lazy person's dream.
I can't help but wonder what happens as the battery dies. I have memories of Bush falling off a dying Segway... Chariot falls would be significantly harder.

So they just put a plastic cover over a Segway? Also, I think if the flashing is part of the device that could be annoying. ;-)

Well, if I can get a decent enough job to afford it, I'd buy it. I imagine tech like this costs a lot, so government assistance would be great.

that is pretty cool... with some refinements, i think this could be a great thing for someone who is confined to a wheelchair.
Wyrehedd242 2 years ago
As someone who is mobility reduced and cannot propel a manual wheelchair this looks like a great solution.
My thoughts::
-Climbing onto/disembarking has to be safer (perhaps a docking station w/ hand rails) Note at 3:23 the wide step down
-ventilation? If this is a fully closed "cocoon-like" unit overtime it will get hot and sticky in there. Downward pointing vents could help.
-place(s) to hook, clip, hang aids like a cane, extensible pincers, a bag or 2 or anything else that is not too heavy.

Thank you for the excellent feedback.
The Chariot prototype has safety wheels that pop out and stabilize the vehicle when necessary. That would prevent what happened to President Bush.
Exmovere Holdings is still developing this vehicle and collecting data to make it ultimately a product for amputees.
