I had been following Tara and Bella's wonderful friendship and I just found out that Bella passed away in October. How is Tara coping with the loss of her bestfriend? Poor Tara, RIP Bella.

@bluepeas510 The Elephant Sanctuary is in Hohenwald, Tennessee. There are other stray dogs there besides the recently deceased Bella. I've read they do not socialize with the elephants.

Do Tarra and Bella quarrel sometimes?

@Akaliko We have never witnessed Tarra and Bella not get along. There are times when Bella goes off to hunt, and maybe at those moments she wants a little space from Tarra, but they are always thrilled when they reunite. Tarra even lets Bella walk over to her food and steal a potato and lie right next to her while she eats it. They seem to genuinely care for each other.

Tarra is so light on her feet as she turns back to see if Bella is there! This is hilarious fun for the both of them and so sweet to see their joy in each other.

How are you certain the elephant does not mind the cold?

@swoldu01 The elephants can come and go as they please in and out of the warm barns, so it Tarra's choice here to be outdoors in the snow. Most all the elephants like snow and will venture out for a little while at least. If the temps are not comfortable to them, they will return to the barn.
