  • How do you pronounce his name? is it Drits?

  • hm, what about just summoning 3 groups of hobgoblins archers with the wand of summoning and using the boots of speed to distract drizzt and avoid his attacks? since he isnt immune to 20 hit rolls... is how i beat him hehe.

  • Can you please tell me where you get the cloak of Balduran?

  • @tdrc66 Hello! It can be found in the Under cellar (Baldur's Gate), worn by Quenash. She stands in a room near the intersection of the cellar (X=1307, Y=1313, AREA=?). The best way to get it is to pickpocket her.

  • Cheers man, I accidently found it years ago so good to finally get there again.

  • I killed Drizzt once. Every other time he mopped the floor with me and my party.

  • Thank you for killing that Mary-Sue.

  • i like.

  • You know when you play the 2nd Baldur's Gate he gets revived and comes with people to kill you and he is impossible to kill

  • OMG, they killed Drizzt! you bastards! - South Park team plays BG

    :3

  • It clearly wasn't Drizzt, 'cause DRIZZT DOESN'T F&$#ING LOSE.

  • The question is: how many times Drizzt killed us all before we succeed killing him?

I had to steal the scimitars to get them... 10 years ago I thought It was impossible to kill him :)

  • it's a minor comment, but I always thought different armors reduced damage from different weapon types, not armor class modifiers. guess i was wrong

  • :c Drizzt... </3

  • He drops a +5 Defender that works well with Rangers and Fighters. Kivan had AC of -14.

Full Plate, ,+2 Lg Shield, +2 Ring, Helm of Balduran, Cloak of Balduran, and Drizzt's Defender.

He also drops a +3 Frostband and the +4 Mithril Chainmail.

  • Killing Drizzt for the xp and/or loot is obviously evil as per D&D alignment from 2nd edition. Even if you did not kill him for that reason the fact that he is a zealot make that there's no rational reason for reasonable characters to end his life in order to promote good in the universe. Being allowed to wield the +5 scimitar doesn't make any sense i.e. you need to kill Drizzt (an innocent) yet only good characters can use the scimitar.

  • @Zozim57 It's the magic of Roleplay to allow us to justify any situation so unrational it seems. What if at the moment we met I doubted it was Drizzt but a shapechanger? Or if for some reason I went berserk and killed him by accident? There are countless possibilities. By the way, you can be good and at the same time commit a crime. It can be justified by greater goodness (difference between evil done and evil avoided is positive). You can also commit a crime unintentionnaly (accident/madness).

  • @Ildraeth

Agreed. The game has been inconsistant regarding alignment. Rangers and Paladins becoming fallen when they shouldn't have, regarding reputation as the only factor...

    Strange isn't it?

  • @Zozim57 I hate to intrude on a very interesting conversation, but in I think they just changed it too make it more commercial. The minor tweaks are only really spotted by die hard fans such as yourself but it makes the whole experience for a player a lot easier too understand if they only have to worry about their reputation when concerning there alignment and how their actions make implications too!

  • @Ildraeth Oh and just so you know

quote : "It can be justified by greater goodness (difference between evil done and evil avoided is positive)"

D&D 2e alignment disregards consequentialism as a factor to determine one's alignment. Only the character (the virtues, vices and traits) of the moral agent is taken into consideration. However, the actions may help determine the character (but not always obviously).

  • @Zozim57 Well I trust you since I know little of D&D :) !

  • @Ildraeth

    Continued :

Still skeptical? Just ask and I'll be happy to quote/link some references from the 2e DMG (Dungeon Master's Guide).

  • ignore my previous statment. I can see now when I tested it out myself you gain +2 ac for each spell. But this is not explained throughly in the spell description, it is only supposedly to give +2 to all saving throws, but not armor. Baffling indeed.

  • @Zekk23 Look ar my a year old comments, everything is fully explained. It is indeed a bug, and worse than that, it's stackable :) !

  • @Ildraeth hacks

  • Comment removed

  • Why use "protection against evil" spell when facing Drizzt?? He's clearly not evil thus the spell should be usless.

  • @Zekk23 Yep, you wouldn't believe how many different spells in BG don't behave like they're supposed to.

  • Kill Elminster next! :D

I want to see his bloody cloak :P

  • -10 Popularity Decreased TROLOLOL XD

  • If I ever play this awesome game again (doubtful since I have completed it like 5 times and it would get pretty boring) I will kill this son of a bitch

  • drizzts grunts of pain would make a great ringtone

  • They look like they'r dancing.LOL

  • Did he drop any good loot?

  • @Deus888 /groan Nice!

  • Thanks all for your comments! Already 2 years since I posted this video! BG is a game you can beat easily with tweaked characters! You're right wcdornez, owning legends and defeating without a scratch threatening foes is very enjoyable. DGneoseeker, I think he drops both scimitars. Play BG and have fun!

  • Can you take Icingdeath and Twinkle off him if you do this?

  • The best part of bashing Dritzz` Do'urden in BG2 was that pesky wizard that would come to claim the items I robbed by killing Dritzz Do'urden and his party, and the way I would always fuck him by dropping the bag of holding on the floor each time he would appear to claim it and all the items it contained, ultimately keeping the trophy items from the whole killed slaughtered butchered Dritzz Do'urden party, and making the pleasure of bashing Dritzz Do'urden and his party all the sweeter.

  • Great vid. It was my pleasure bashing Dritzz Do'urden each time I played BG1, and it was even greater pleasure bashing Dritzz Do'urden and his whole party each time I played BG2, and looting all that good stuff they wear with them selves. Fuck Dritzz Do'urden.

  • My cousin was making joke about Baldur's looking like cut-out paper figures, LOL. But I think I would still appreciate it if I play it again, after Dragon Age, I was dying to play NWN, just finished it, I wanna play Baldur's now.

  • @illeststyles Thats the spirit.

  • You made it look so easy. I had to use an entire party of archers with speed oil.

  • Protection from Evil sould not work on Drizzt, if i remember well he's good or neutral, that's the main reason he was banished....

  • you fucking faggot, u killed dritzz imma cap ur ass now bitch!

  • finally

  • how in hell did you do that. please show your stats and items in another video.

  • @toddvidclack Get a look at the video description. I listed everything you need to know about how to slaughter Drizzt yourself. Statistics aren't important, since you will use potions to increase them anyway. Have fun :) !

  • good , but why didnt you show his items??

  • Techically, Drizzt was designed to be immortal to any "normal" character. You can't defeat him without cheating tho they made it "sort of" possible in the last patches.

  • Amazingly intriguing...

  • OH MY GOD! They killed Drizzt! You bastards!

  • Look an awesome drizzt kill, Search: Caesar Lutetia

  • You are crazy to kill Drizzt. He was a good guy, don't touch him and let his armor.

  • easiest way to kill him was (as a rogue or fighter/rogue) to backstab him, run away, restealth when he's out of sight and do it over. killed him with a really low level fighter/rogue that way. another to make a bard, level it up till improved invisibility is available- improved invisibility was overpowered in BG1 cause they couldn't hit you at all, and a bard's or rogue's every hit counts as a backstab when impr. invis is on (had a cursed +1 2handed sword on my bard 4 some insane backtabs hehe)

  • Drizzt is indestructible!! Ain't you read the novels!!!

  • @TheJakan actually in the silent blade Artemis Entreri kills him with the release of kimmuriels psionic kinetic shield. Then Jarlaxle has Rai'guy ressurect him. So not indestructible :P

  • @Arris3

You mentioned another awesome character. I'd love to see a book or game about Jarlaxle and Dinin's exploits.

  • @CadaverousLaceration THEY DO HAVE BOOKS BOUT JARLAXLE

  • @dinnermintXtreme You're right! I just found this out. Great character, in my opinion.

  • Oooo reputation decreased, get donating.

  • Drizzt is the One and Only!! Shame on you!!!

  • I remember killing this dude with the Gnoll Summoning wand. The wand was bugged and it had infinite charges. The spawned Gnolls would would be instantly hostile to him and he would not be hostile to the party. It took about 5 million Gnolls to kill him but it was really fun to do over and over. The swords and armor he drops are SWEET. Used them all through the game.

  • Yes and you can Stealth with the armor :) !

  • @CucciCadet LOL

  • Usually what I do is grab that bard you get from killing the witch, send him in to attack drizzt, and have one of my guys slowly range down drizzt by sitting on that island in the middle of the map. It's a sweet glitch, especially for a druid/fighter.

  • There is a cheat in BG that allows you to spawn either a friendly Drizzt or a hostile Drizzt. One of my favorite things to do in the original BG was to spawn an army of each and watch them battle it out in a Drizzt on Drizzt war!

  • Not that bad an idea :) !

  • @Ildraeth Cheats:DrizztDefends() and Cheats:DrizztAttacks()

type one of those into the little box after you've activated the cheats.

  • @killawind1287

Could uh, you make a video of this?! Or do you know someone who has? and where is it located?!

  • Yeah I solo'd him by standing on the island in the middle of the lake, sending in a sacrificial bard to atk him, and sling firing bullets at him until he died.

    I used more than 200 bullets =p

  • Baldurs gate is still a classic and i think the graphics still look alsome it feels more real to me then the new games. Anyone agree with me on that?

  • I love 3D isometric. I think the early jump to 3D was a fail. Now it has become a standard. But still, I find BG graphics really nice. There are so much details you can look at. Without mentioning musics, and voices...

  • @Terlin1466 Absolutely! It is like playing in a beautiful canvas painting.

  • i have diablo 2 because my computer really shit so is this worth buying or should i just get dragon age on my ps3

  • Definitely worth buying. Read reviews. Buy it boxed, so you can get a paper manual.

  • i bought it boxed and there was no paper manual :D

  • Well, I mean the big box. There should be a paper manual in it. You can fin some on eBay for a very fair price.

  • I also killed Drizzt in one-on-one melee combat, but used a pure level 7 fighter (no expansion). Probably a few potions, but no spells. BG was such a good game...

  • ... and always is ;) !

  • Damn you! Drizzt is a GOD! srry good job though. R.A. Salvatore is a good writer

  • drizzt deserves to die lol everytime i play i always kill him :P

  • Great Fighter:D

  • What lvl is this character?

  • i know a infinity gold bug for this game =]

  • With gems?

  • YOU KILLED DRIZZT?! your a bad man.... very bad bad man

  • no, hes a big hero :D

  • hmm, but looking at the game his reputation is decreased by 4 :D HA!

  • A quidam killed Drizzt :p !

  • @Kamemwati Stay away from the summoner! Your a bad man!

  • your class is warrior mage thief ? : p

  • No, Fighter/Mage :) .

  • You kill him! THANKS!!! I hate Drizzt Do'Urden.

  • indeed!

  • What's the easiest way with Fighter/Mage to get your AC to very low levels?

  • There are three ways to increase your AC.

Firstly, by increasing your Dexterity, which you can do at start by giving it points, or after by drinking potions (see below), or reading tomes.

Secondly, by using items like belts (for specific types of attacks), shields, cloacks & helms (Balduran), weapons (Drizzt +5 scimitar), robes or even armors after you launched your spells, and rings.

These are permanent items, but you can use temporary ones like potions to lower your AC.

  • Thirdly, by using spells.

The three Protection from evil spells are stackable if I remember well.

Then, you can use Blur, Ghost armor, and Improved invisibility to lower your AC even more.

If you have a Cleric, Defensive harmony will make it untouchable.

  • Thanks!

  • I found out that you can actually stack each of the Protection from Evil spells with itself (major bug!). Thus you can reach very low AC & Saves easily.

I also forgot to mention the Paladin's ability of the same name.

  • Oh cool, thanks I'm just thinking of starting a Fighter/Illusionist Gnome :)

  • Thanks!

Also, I know there is Prot from Evil and Prot for 10' radius, what is the third one?

Sweet those spells last for a decent amount of time too!

  • Sorry, I should I've mentioned it. You have the Mage & the Cleric Protection from Evil spell. Try to cast them plus the Protection from Evil 10' radius on one character and it should stack.

You're right about the duration. It makes those spells really powerfull for physical fighting. It also increase your Saves.

  • Drizzt had terrible luck on his attack rolls - yet he misses with a 15? His opponent must have had at least -11 AC! In a fair fight, no one beats Drizzt (except perhaps Conan...or James Bond)!

  • With a Fighter/Mage (on ToTSC) it's very easy to take the AC to very low levels. The spells combined with the apropriate items can easily take you even under -11.

  • Drizzt had 119 hit points minimum & 136 maximum. Cool!

  • Killing Drizzt is kind of sad, don't you think? I can understand trying for fun but when I first head his death cry, I felt I'd done a BAD THING.

The best no-cheese way (IMO) is to get the two weird potions from the guy at the Nashkel circus; get a sling and magic bullets then drink the strength potion. Drink a potion of Haste & run like mad around the mound off to the right of Drizzt's spawning spot. Fire sling bullets and hope you don't run out before he's dead!

  • Well, I think he was a bit arrogant, and I didn't like him stealing my kills of Gnolls, so he deserved to die, honestly ;) !

I like your idea, but Strength has no effect on range weapons' hit rolls, so it would be very hard to kill him that way since he has a base AC of -10 if I remember well.

  • Don't forget though that strength *does* have an affect on *hurled* weapons - & sling bullets are hurled. I used this method myself & I have a sneaking suspicion it's why those potions were included in the game.

  • I don't think bullets are hurled weapons, since it isn't mentioned as such by the manual (see page 77) which hints at throwing axes and daggers only. As missile weapons, the Dexterity modifier applies to them (pages 77 &134 ). I do not even believe the Strength modifier would apply for damage bonus.

  • They are, I assure you. Have you ever used a sling? The weapon doesn't *fire* the missile like a bow does an arrow or a crossbow does a bolt. The sling is whirled and then one of the two ends of the string is released so that the stone can fly out. In effect it's a machine to increase the throwing momentum by exactly the same principle as a woomera does for a spear.

Plus, the game clearly adds strength damage. Drink that str. potion and hit anyone with a sling bullet. The dam. is like 18!

  • Well, I was referring to the game only :) ! You may be right, since I only used the manual to give you an answer, and I know the game doesn't always work like said. I even remember getting high damages with bows, so the damage formula may not be so well handled. It also seems that slings use the Strength modifier in Icewind Dale.

  • they become neutral that stands still and drizzt wont attack them when he becomes hostile, even if they completly blocks him from moving. equipt your character with halberier and keep max distance, and have fun killin immobile drizzt xD

may take quite a while though.

  • there is one even more ridiculous strategy on this, and you can do it with just about any level, even straingth away you start to play the game from begining.

just fill your grup with characters so you have group of six.

then you head for the dritzz. once there and all is done and you can move freely around him again. surround him with your partymembers and remove them from party.

  • damn , nice tactics

  • how did u get 20+12+8

  • i'm not sure what you mean by the 20+12+8 because i played BG a long time ago. but make sure you summon all the monsters before you engage him. spawn them all around him and stand at max range to hit him. when the fight starts your monsters will start attacking, making it hard for drizzit to get through them. yes he will one shot them, but that's why you spawn more, hope that helps

  • i managed to kill drizzt plenty of times with a ridiculous strategy. try it out and you'll see it works. mind you haven't played this game in a LONG time but you should know what i'm talking about.

I had a level capped warrior class with max bow. had the best bow i could find and penetrating arrows. and then bought A LOT of monster rods. when you first encounter drizzt he leaves you alone. So i used the monster rods to spawn as many bad guys as i could between him and me.

  • Using the distance created I was able to kill him. I always kept my distance with the cheetah boots and spawned more bad guys when i could. it works pretty well.

Ithanks for the video. brings back a lot of memories.

  • Nop ;) !

  • i summond sum gnolls and he killed all of em and i was like what the hecks happening

  • First time i saw him slaying all the gnolls i knew i would have to kill him to loot what he has.^^ I was 12 hwen i played that, almost ten years ago. Funny though it was one of the best games i ever played. Oh and I did not manage to kill him in BG 1 but i have slain his party in BG 2 ]:->

  • Yes, great game, I'm still playing it from time to time : ) !

  • Maximum level of course!

You're right except for the speed potion. A Haste spell was used instead! No spell on Drizzt (too high magic resistance anyway)!

Thanks for your comment :) !

  • Woot, nice one.

You have a cleric/mage or a cleric fighter?

  • Neither one or the other :), it's a Fighter/Mage.

  • lvls?

Must be 7/8 in both.. :P

Maybe strenght potions plus mirrored image plus hero potion or another potion like that one thats affect your thaco. Speed potion too

Hum.. reduced drizzit armor with any spell? Maybe that's influyed too

    Good work anyway

  • Impressive dude.

I was able to slay him is BG2 but in 1?

    No way...

    Nice work.

  • Thanks ;) ! I admit it wasn't easy though...

  • Well hum... can you kill him without haste and potions and stuff?

  • Without strength potions and haste spell, that would indeed be a little hard. Maybe it's doable, but I'm not sure :) .

  • easy.. you ust patched the game with the "lvl 50 BG Edit Patch"

and MAYBE you made him appear with

    Cheats:DrizztDefends()

  • I could have, but I didn't :) .

  • Drizzt is unkillable- ain't you read the novels!!!

  • Haha agreed! :) Evil drow forever!

  • I really hate Drizzt (but I love any other drow) so I want to kill him. Unfortunately I couldn't do so yet. XD I'm in a party not alone.

    Good job, hehe!

  • actually i know a very lame way to kill drizzt, it's very very simple but i have never seen anyone mention it. it does not abuse bad bad pathing AI and you do not require any awesome gear.

just 5 characters (6 will be faster), 4 potions and a 2hander. and a lot of patience :)

you can do this at lvl 1 in theory, but you won't have the potions at that time.

the tactic is based on 2 common sense game mechanisms.

  • Well I do not know how you would do that. I would be glad to know however :) !

  • well it is majot cheese, but it's completely legit.

when he's neutral, click on him as if you were going to talk to him, if he stands still it's easier. then surround him with 4 characters in such a way his movement is completely blocked. have them drink a potion of invisibility. equip your remaining chars with a big 2handed weapon and postion them so that there's an invisible character between you and drizzt. and then just whack away. even a lvl1 mage can melee him to death.

  • helm of balduran a strength potion potion of heroism an armor spell, looks like shield the shield reminds me of a large shield +1, but there are many others which are better so it probably another one blur mirror image (which acts like stoneskin in BGI) haste the mace i can't identify one icon looks like confusion. probably not and another looks liks protection from evil, but drizzt is good (then again, i do suspect it gives a AC bonus to everything)
  • See previous comments for a list.

  • Hmm I thought using raise dead but that orthodox method is good either.

  • I think Skeletons don't stay more than two rounds alive with Drizzt. But I guess summoning monsters with a wand could work.

  • wow, a lot of Drizzt haters here. What's up with that? Luckily, this is only a game, where as Drizzt could never be killed in anything that counts.

  • The Spider Queen is pleased with you this day. Beware, for Mielikki is extremely pissed.

  • I used the "arrows" strategy because i wanted the equipment at the beggining of the game xD

    Just funny

    Nice!

  • Drizzt is a bit more realistic as a 16th level character in 3e. I never kill him in any of my playthroughs, though.

  • My favorite character to torment in BG1, par none. Noober gets close, but still not quite. My personal favorite is to dual a fighter into a rogue, play until the cap, enjoy a few nice potions and render him into giblets with a single backstab.

Perhaps I should summon swarm him once. Seeing Drizzt eaten alive by gibberlings and xvarts... hmmm....

  • Noober rewards you well when you are VERY patient with him ;) !

  • hmm, my reply box was full.

    the game mechanisms are

    1) nobody can move through invisible creatures

    2) big 2H weapons can attack from the second rank, so to speak.

drizzt only has scimitars and can't hit you, while you occasionally score a hit. (slow) victory is guaranteed :)

no cheeating or modding, no abuse of bad pathing, no high lvls or awesome gear is required, just 2 logic mechanisms

spread the word, but give credits :p

i've never seen anyone mention my tactic so not many know it, i think

  • I thought it was something like that. I wouldn't have thought to the invisible potion though.

I will surely not forget mentioning how great a tactician you are ;) !

By the way, I like your finding, athough I prefer hand to hand fighting :) !

  • You could also use bows for even less risks...

  • yes bow are safer but since drizzt has such an incredible AC it takes seeveral minutes to kill him (well i always have a lowish lvl when i do it) and that would take A LOT of arrows :p

and having to renew my stacks every time is tedious. with a 2H i can just go read a book for a few minutes.

btw a similar tactic can be used on the doomsayer, another hard enemy. secure a corner with 3 invisible chars to protect your mage, and just cast the doomsayer to death

    :)

  • It seems you have found the ultimate tactic :) !

  • invisibility is the ultimate cheese yes :)

but in BG1 your thief regularly fails his stealth check and nivisibility potions are scarce.

in BG2 you drown in invisibility potions, especially in ToB.

they rock against mindflayers and fire giants

i know it's lame, but but eating my brains is too :p

invisibility + turn undead rocks too

or invisibility and that cleric globe of blades HLA (forgot the name) is pretty nice as well :)

  • Like you say : ) !

If I remember well, he wears a Mithril Chainmal, which is a Chainmal +4, and two Scimitars, one of them being +3, and the other one being +5 (+3 to Hit & Damage rolls and +2 to AC).

  • Die you pathetic excuse of a Dark Elf!

Die you Living symbol of the tastelessness of the masses!

    DIE DRIZT DRO WHATEVER!

    ahahahahahahaha

  • I always said he was a fraud ;) !

  • Lol total exaggeration of how powerful he is. I think in third edition he is a shitty level 16 character.

  • You may try to beat him to see by yourself :) .

  • The effects invunerablity and shield, increase you resistance to Dritz's scemitars. Then Ghost armor, is wieghtless platemail. Great strength increases attack roles, especially for blunt weapons, like that mace. Mirror image to decrease accuracy, then a potion of something-or-another, that increases likely hood to dodge, or just gives a minus to attack roles. Did I miss anything?

  • You forgot Protection against Evil, Great Invisibility, Blur, Haste. I did not use Ghost armor. I do not mention all items, but I think it's obvious he's wearing the best ones.

The trick against Drizzt is to have a low THACO, because he has around -15 AC. He is wearing a chainmail, so that's why the hero is wielding a blunt weapon.

There is another trick to get low THACO, actually a bug. The spell Great Invisibility gives +4 to hit rolls, which is notably why Drizzt got hit on each roll.

  • Isn't Drizzt good? What good does protection against evil do? (serious question) Other than that, What is your class? Did you cast mirror image on yourself, or is there a potion for that?

  • It's right, there's also a bug here. I don't even think it's working as intended in BG2. Fort the latter, there may be (unofficial) fixpacks though.

This charachter is dual-class, F/W (to get enough levels as a W for the Invisibility spell, if I remember well).

I cast Mirror-image, but as I said, it isn't needed because the character can only be hit on 17+ rolls.

  • Potions are used to get better statistics.

Eventually, AC is -26 against slashing.

You well pointed that Drizzt wields a scimitar, which is slashing damage.

So you see that there is even no use to cast Mirror-image spell, given that it's THACO is -9.

  • I'm guessing it's because Dritz uses two semitar, and you had both invunerablity and shield, which increase your resitance to swords. Not to mention ghost armor and strength, one to increase damage and the other is weightless platemail. Then the mirror image spell, which as anyone who had trouble fighting Tarnesh knows, can be deadly in the number of spells/attacks can be completed in that time. Also an enchantment or potion to increase the possibility of a dodge.

  • Sorry about the second post, the first one didn't appear so I thought it didn't post....

  • How could you kill Drizzt? HOW COULD YOU???!!!!!!!!!

    Catti-Bree will hunt you down...

  • Drizzt's fault, I swear! He wore a Mithril chain! I will need it against Catti-Bree ;) .

  • lame multiclass

  • ha! love this game, i still play it too :) the CLUA cheats are the best. i have a mage that can lightning 120+ damage. i also have a spell that i call "send to hell" and a "world's fireball." the game is legit. mabey i'll post a vid :)

  • I'd love to see that :) !

  • watch the vid i posted :) everything you need to see. no hacks or mods, just good ole CLUA Console. i send tethtoril to hell XD prolly my favorite part!
