Great clip. Do you not have a HD version? I reckon the band would support it as a re-release (with a bit of updating now). It's got a documentary feel that makes it hit home all the more poignantly.
this is a new one to me...and, man, does this ever sound like Sting/Police stuff...love it...it ends too soon, however...I love the last two phrases ending with over and out...very catchy and needs the extension...specifically for that phrasing...
I'd forgotten about this XTC song. I love the percussion. I liked the video and did not think it was heavy-handed with the religious imagery. It was moving, visually interesting and alive!
Great video. I always thought it was a shame that XTC chose to make such a bland video to this song when it had so much potential to really speak to people.
So many times XTC sounds more interesting than The Police. This World Over seems suitable for the strange days we've been living in recent years. One of their best along with Dear God and, well, so many others.
Have loved this song since it came out in the 80s. Such a pure and haunting melody. Great video and very true to the lyrics (naive and silly as the proved to be).
As a long time fan .... GOOD JOB! GREAT VIDEO (to WheezerK9..I think you got m'bella's #, what I don't understand is why is someone so literal as mongabella listnin to XTC? - mysteries this world over I guess)
I have a problem, that you show the moon, like it would be earthlike, cold, moon was created by this planet, shit that came about the big bang, repeated shots, big ball of snot
enjoyed the video immensely, fitted a favourite song in a contemporary and well choreographed way though don't necessarily support the religious viewpoint. thank you!
There's no religious viewpoint here - other than Andy Partridge's viewpoint. I believe this is about Man's use of religion and god to meet his own ends. God's existence is moot!
@kolster65 I played your vid twice now, mainly because the song is awesome, however you did an excellent job. I tried to find religous viewpoints. What I found was an insight to humanity and our self-destructive nature. I did not find nor was I looking for religion.
A most excellently constructed video to one of the greatest songs from THE greatest band that ever existed. How sad that the world hasn't been turned on to the genius of Andy Partridge. Thanks for sharing!
im a rabid fanatic for xtc... i usually hate unofficial vids to their songs.... but this was very well done... thanks for posting.... !
