Well, I have only Windows Movie Maker, but here I used Particle Illusions too and also used Fraps a little (for screenshots). Although, Fraps is usually used for recording parts of gameplay in computer games.

I used Particle Illusions. It's a nice program. Has many effects. It works only with AVI format though and there was some problem so I had to use Fraps to capture parts of the movie, so the scenenes where I used these effects became really buggy :( Still, I tried to make it look better than the last ones.
