1:43... you forgot: "while his buddy attacks you from behind..." *wink*
I like it! But I don't see why you would risk a wrestling match with your attacker, or risk getting attacked from behind, when his gun is right there... I think I'd rather get his gun and back out of his striking range. Just in case.
this technique would not be good against more than one person he leaves the weapon open after the disarm you should always take control of the weapon or render it useless to others
the opponent was clearly not in pain whilst this technique was being demonstrated, this shows a great level of control from the teacher as well as great knowledge of the human body
The be all and well if he did not intend to kill you in the first place. Just some times thugs just like to savour the glory of you being helpless before they kill you. In martial arts we are always taught to do as the previous 2 comments but perhaps if ur forced into it would it not be better to learn how to survive then and give yourself a better chance?
Human reaction time is 0.2 seconds, and not every bullet shot is as fatal as death if you don't just stand there.
I am however concern with the fact you are attempting to grab the gun, if he has good reflexes or suspects you to attempt to defend himself he might just angle his wrist to have the gun pointing at your exposed body under the outstretched arm, would it not be better to subjugate the wrist? By logic too stepping inside the arm would prevent his arm from aiming the gun properly at you and the shock to his face when he is concentrated on the gun would weaken him further in my opinion.
I think its quite simple, you learn martial arts to be prepared, you even learn it as a way to culture your mind to be alert and open to all possibilities.
If he were close enough, get him. If he were too far, only a proper martial arts understanding will help you properly gauge as when you can just lag it.
The gun is mighty and all but it only operates in a linear direction and the fact the guy gave you a chance to respond is a last opportunity to exploit.
It's really kinda relying on a "reaction scare" a lot of people don't actually think your going to try to take the gun away.
I do agree on the subjugate the wrist, it would be better to cancel it out faster with less steps than this instruction shows.
I've had a gun pointed at me before and I was lucky enough to have a guy the flinched when I moved. All I did was tork his wrist and the guy gave out. I was lucky, and if I had of used a similar technique to this I may have been shot.
what if the gun is just out of hand grabbing range? its unlikely you will be faster than a finger on the trigger either way. i agree with the previous comments. do as the gunman says. and yes a bit too much detail to go wrong.
This is a weak imitation of an Aikido technique, but lacks the fundamental principles of movement of Aikido.
As someone else said, relies far too much upon details that can go wrong. Like making sure the hammer can't fall? Better idea? Don't be in the line of fire... ever. He steps off the line at first, but then steps right back into it again, instead of employing the Tenkan that would be done within Aikido.
The pin is also ineffective and unreliable. Watched 2 from this guy. No way.
A semi-auto pistol with a round in battery will discharge when the hammer drops. It will only need to cycle for the second shot. If you want to prevent that weapon from firing you will need to prevent the hammer from contacting the transfer bar. Holding the slide will not be enough. If you're really slick you might be able to engage the safety on that sigsauer in the vid. Another approach would be to push the slide back about a quarter of an inch which would disable the trigger mechanism.
"Grab the hammer?" that's easy, why not just catch he bullet with your teeth. What if it's a glock? This videro is insane. It lloks a well coreographed Hong Kong Cinema fight scene.
If you grab the gun in this way, just hope that the attcker will not pull the triger, because in the best case you will looking for your fingers on the flor.
guys guns ABSOLUTELY suck close-quarters. A police officer was slashed by a knife man before the police officer could pull the trigger close-quarters.
id like to for once see a video where the gunman reacts, too...not just standing there taking it. Not with a real gun, maybe paintballs or something - but something that shoots. Even a nerf gun would do, but something that lets you know "oh, crap, i'm dead".
it'll be a whole lot differnt if the gun was real and the guy with the gun does in fact intend to shoot you, the problem with this technique is there are too many things to do, in a real life situation the most effective technique is the most basic one with least number of moves to remember and execute.
true. get out of the way, kick to the nuts fingers right through the throat. If he pointed at gun at you just kill the sorry guy. Way simpler and no need of extreme skill and speed to do fancy things lke that. If youre not ready to kill a man dont get in a situation where you could have to.

Nice video. I will come to your funeral if you try this in the street. The best defense against a gun is to carry your own gun and be good with it. Works almost everytime!!
It's pretty but it will never work. The problem with this is that it relies on finer motor skill which will be completely gone as a result of the adrenaline rush.
Well, adapting martial arts to be used in real-life situations involves repetitive practice. It makes moves like the one showed in this video reactionary, the goal being to make the actual defense require little thought to execute in a real-life situation. So yes, an amateur probably wouldn't be able to learn the moves in this video and then pull them off in a real situation a month later, but I guarantee you that the teacher in this video could easily defend himself with this technique.
Just plain goofy. What about guns that don't have exposed hammers? The idea of pulling up on the slide goes against using leverage in the best way. Really silly stuff.
haha i can't believe ur comparing this to hitman bloodmoney. if u would have said metal gear solidi would have let u side. movin to the side n grabbin a gun n putting ur finger on a hammer isn't as easy as it sounds. chances are a regular human being will be dead by the time they even move
Bring him down a foot away from his own gun? I would think you would want to take him down a little farther away from the gun, not much margin for error.
And I'm sure Lijun Wang is a master marksman. It's pretty easy to disarm someone when they just stand there, holding the gun with one outstretched arm, and don't bother to keep the gun pointed at you when you sidestep. Also, not all guns are hammer-fired (GLOCK, Springfield XD, etc.).
No, but this prevents somebody nearby getting shot IF it does have a hammer. Otherwise, by the point you grab the hammer, you're out of the line of fire anyway.
id just hit the saftey mad quick so they cant shoot and theyll b all like "how u do that?"

Firstly, tx for the upload..!
There are 2 issues with this..
1 is the loose gun..!
2 you are on the ground too.. and vunerable..!
And to Darkmagician the gun needs to slide even when cocked to work..
