  • How can some of the foregoing commentators compare Irish tenor voices and say which is better. They are all unique and beautiful instruments and in my humble opinion Irish music through the ages have allowed tenors like the above to express the cultural and historical romanticism that is the poetry of Ireland.

  • I like this version too, he doesn't overdo it..my preference. ty for posting

  • This is the best tenor I have ever heard. What a talent.

  • He brings so much emotion to his singing. i have to say that hearing him sing in person is that much better!!!!

  • Anthony Kearns will be singing live on March 18th at St. Joseph's College on Long Island!!!

  • There's no doubt his voice is a good instrument, but this rendition was completely devoid of emotion. He sounded as if he was afraid to vary his pace or emphasis, which is absolutey necessary to draw out the narrative. John McCormack had all the control in the world but managed to colour the song by giving something of himself to the singing of it.

  • I'm sorry but finbar is by far the best and the most passionate, anthony kearns is good but finbar's full lyric tenor is much more resonant!!!!!

  • He is the best of the lot! Great range and pitch. It is a shame he has not made a solo album. Finbar, Ronan, Karl and John cannot compete with him. He is totally above all.

  • Beautiful voice. Like an angel, He sings songs that appeal to an old crowd. I have been to his concerts and most of the people are 60 plus years. He has a groupies that follows him and it is hard to get good seats; they get them first.. Despite the bad seating, he is exquisite. He could appeal generations if he sang more modern tunes. Shake the groupies and do more modern tunes and allow new fans to get good seating!

  • Absolutely agree. What a voice! This song was a favorite of my

  • Lovely voice. I would love to hear him singing on a movie sound tract.Look what that did for Aerosmith, who couldn't hold a note worth a darn. Phil Collins became famous with "Against All Odds". I am a fan of Phil, but he is no competitor to Anthony Kearns!

  • I think he does sound like a young McCormack (sp) a beautiful sound by all accounts.

  • Tis very sad this vocal gem has CD'd so little but to anyone who has attended 4 or 5 of his concerts ,one wonders why he draws so much comparison to McCormack?? But for the vagaries of time consider that their comparisons might be reversed. Birth dates don't mean all that much!!

  • Me parece que tienes una voz extraordinaria. Felicidades por tu buen hacer como cantante.

  • Damn he's gorgeous.

  • Such a haunting arrangement. Why isn't he the most talked-about tenor in the world??! He has the most beautiful voice, the best control of anyone I've ever heard.

  • He has groupies that take the prime seats.I have no idea how these people do it but they are at every concert in the first ten rows. It is difficult to get a good seat at his concerts. So frustrating!

  • How is it that this man never made a solo album? Ronan, John McCormick & Finbar of the Irish Tenors are great singers but AK was the best IMHO.

  • I first heard a small extract of this song in The Priests -concert and totally fell for it, I simply had to search this song... and this performance really stole my heart completely... utterly beautiful...

  • Lovely, lovely. Its a testament to Anthony's musical skills that he can shift modes from a Bel Canto tenor (with almost a baritone range, I've heard) --to this mode..... almost no classically-trained opera folk can do this....

  • The stately accompaniment brings out the song's poignancy in ways that his voice accapella might not.

  • He is really a very good singer and I like his voice!

But it's definitely a song that can not be sung from a tenor. This version is too clean. A classical singer don't match with this kind of song.

  • Huh? Who do you think should sing it?

  • The beauty and richness of this far surpasses our praise.

  • Amazing! I love this song! Im considering for All State Auditions

  • Spellbinding. The most beautiful lyric tenor voice in our world today.

  • Amen dickdomino!

  • Idiots! this is the best version since John Mccormack. This boy has a beautiful voice and is a true 'pro'. My quals? 71 years of life, College trained tenor and 30 years career.

  • It is a splendid performance, and you are arguably right in your opinion. But for sheer beauty, vocal control, and pathos, the Kenneth McKellar version remains my favorite. Have you heard it? Kearns is surely the best of the "Irish Tenors." I do wish he would make a solo album. Best to you.

  • Very nice Mr Kearns

  • hey this one is really pretty too!

  • joeygsmom...are you referring to his looks? If so, I totally agree.

  • LOL his singing...but hes not bad looking either is he?

    ;)

  • Just beautiful, thanks for posting.

  • he sings beautifully but he has left a verse out.

  • Yes, he has, and the melancholy quality of his voice can really bring out sadness the character feels knowing that his fiancee has died and her ghost comes to tell him they'll be married soon. Which to me means he's going to die, too.

  • a nice bit of class, machree01.

  • Nice one Machree.
