  • I can't stop watching this commercial, but I don't know why. It's really funny and strangely addicting. I want a T-shirt that says "These are the chips with goodness in." Who is this actress and why is she called "the tool lady"? Is she in other things too? I can't find her anywhere.

  • I was in the British Merchant Navy & used to sail to South Africa on the Union Castle Liners. The South Africans were called Yarpies & and so consequently we used to say they spoke with a Yarpy accent. Some of them, especially the Africana population had a very broad accent and one would have to listen more intently to understand what they were saying.FYI, it is nothing like and Australian accent as it is from the Dutch early settlers, the Auzzie accent is from the British.

  • Awesome!

  • om gertjie :)

  • Typical clutchplates.

  • John McCain Chips. You may not be able to vote for him but you can still enjoy his frie... chips.

  • she sounded like an Indian

  • I vote for McCain (chips)

  • Vote Obama!

  • @Mimmeux You have to be from the US to vote for Nobama or McWeaklink

I 'd only for the Fri..Chip guy becuase of his running mate

    PALIN/CAIN2012

  • Our accent in Tanzania was similar. I was born in Zululand, but brought up in the bush in Tanzania. Then I went back to SA, aged 16. I have lived 23 years in the UK, and they always say I'm South African. See my video on youtube - Speak Swahili, Dammit!

  • thumbs up if you thought this was about john mccain....

  • Husband isn't doing his job in bedroom

  • Oh wow, I remember seeing that when it was first airing!! Is that sad?

  • DAFT ! WHICH CLOWN WOULD APPROVE SUCH AN AD ?? FUCKING STUPID

  • @KLE34 South Africans have a very... creative if not a bit silly sense of what is funny and what isnt.

  • buid the dang wall

  • @arabshotta I agree.

  • . . . I'm John McCain, and I approve of this message.

  • @arabshotta

    exactly

  • Kak funny!!

  • Dis net 'n add!

  • it wasn't our government (besides some of the Bush administration), it was the bankers that run/own the world.

  • hey, i was sitting there minding my own business when the pigfuckers flew those planes into our towers, now we kill terrorists with our bullets/bombs laced with pig's blood

  • No we just want you teabaggers in the middle east to stop fighting with each other, blowing yourselves up, and destabilizing world security.

  • the guy is called Gerkie? :p sy het Gerkie geseg, nie Getrjie nie tog?

(ek weet my afrikaans is nie goe nie, ek is Belgies)

  • @samgar2

I think it sounds like she is calling him "Garki" because in Afrikaans the "-tjie" ending sounds more like "-ki". So Gertjie becomes "Gerki".

  • Zuid-afrikaanse reclames zijn de beste!

South African adverts are the best!

... take Evita Bezuidenhout's Nando's A-N-C advert for example (look it up here if you haven't)

  • they say DIE instead of HET en DE........^^

  • Sedh-Effrika!

  • Lekker snaack. :3

  • We're at the home of what?

The guys like "we're at the home of annik-----something something" what the hell is he saying?!!

I can barely understand her too!

  • "We're at the home of Anneke van Wyk (the name of the lady), who believes that she sees visions in her trays of mccain real oven bake chips.

Ahhh, as I opened the oven door, this warmth rushed over me, and there in the chips, I saw it - a vision. I called oom Gertie (uncle Gertjie - also a name) over for verification, and he could see it too couldnt you Gertjie.

These are the chips with goodness in.

    Think again, think Mccain.

  • mooi mooi baaie dankie.

  • @BitchinnShoes07 Open your ears, it's English.

  • @wklokow Chill out bru it was a year ago. Im also not Afrikaaner.

  • @BitchinnShoes07 I'm chilled. That came across wrong. Sorry.

  • 0:18

"He could see it too, couldn't you, Gertjie?"

    "(bored) Mmmmmmmm (fades)"

One thing people have to admit, South Africa has the best commercials.

  • @garrettkirkthompson forget adverts. they have the best accent

  • ahh i wish you tube uploaders with videos would remove racist comments

  • I have to admit, I havnt checked comments on this video in ages. thank you for bringing it under my attention.

  • No problem

  • I had a South African university professor whom I showed a video to, and he said just that. "Some of these comments are... quite racist, aren't they?"

  • ya some are and it is quite pointless arguing on you tube

  • Afrikaans reminds of Vlaams for some reason.

  • Jaaaa neee wat!

Dai McCain Chips is mos BAIE lekker

  • Think Obama, heheh just jokes

  • Perhaps because you are an idiot... ;)

  • It's only listed because the boers made a stink about it in the 70's, and they pressured the UN to list it as a language because it was "cultural property".

and no, I don't speak dutch, but I speak Afrikaans fluently

  • Last time I checked, Afrikaans was listed as an language. And with regard to them sounding like they speak Dutch with a lisp, I presume you speak Dutch fluently?

  • its still another language afrikaans was brought in by the dutch and it changed over time and so they made another language

  • @8Elvenfury8 Lol i'm dutch and it looks for 90% like dutch with accents of regions all over holland!

  • I love that add lol

  • Think stupid. Think pathetic. Think embarrasing.

  • Only if John McCain could have used this commercial as material during the U.S. elections! He would have soooooo won! /jk :)

  • En hierdie die arm Garkie moe baaie dae altyd chips eet.

  • think McCain , think again.

  • Very strange. An ad of course, but very strange. Even scary.

If this ad was aimed at the effective selling of a product, it gives an idea of the target audience.

No way am I going to buy McCain without a shiver down my spine.

  • Prob 'cause you aren't South Arfican you dont get it

  • This is fricken' awesome "As I opened the oven door, this warmth flushed over me" "These are the chips with goodness een" lolololol

  • they r different places, how could they be?

  • i was thinking of a presidential candidate myself...

  • Truly South African - I love it

  • this if funny! i think that john mccain should adopt this ad or at the very least he could use the slogan...."think again....think mccain"

  • I think he'd have to ask permission from the Chip company, but it could work!

  • Except that maybe he doesn't want his voters to really think again...

  • LMAO Gertjie!

  • I could imagine the husband thinking "shut your crap, I want more chips"

  • this was just to see if you're still watching the clips.

    love,

    clint

  • There's a funnier one with her where at the end she says "It's not me. It's the chips. I'm just a tool. A complete tool."

  • lol! The husband's expression was pretty hilarious!!

  • Lol, I love this ad! Can't help laughing out loud every time I see it!

  • lmao this advert is sooo weird
