I can't stop watching this commercial, but I don't know why. It's really funny and strangely addicting. I want a T-shirt that says "These are the chips with goodness in." Who is this actress and why is she called "the tool lady"? Is she in other things too? I can't find her anywhere.
I was in the British Merchant Navy & used to sail to South Africa on the Union Castle Liners. The South Africans were called Yarpies & and so consequently we used to say they spoke with a Yarpy accent. Some of them, especially the Africana population had a very broad accent and one would have to listen more intently to understand what they were saying.FYI, it is nothing like and Australian accent as it is from the Dutch early settlers, the Auzzie accent is from the British.
Federal agents in a sting operation Nove 26th. arrested a Somali-born teenager just as he tried blowing up a van he believed was loaded with explosives at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland,
Mohamud, a naturalized U.S.citizen This teens chilling determination is a stark reminder that there are people — even here in Oregon — who are determined to kill Americans
Our accent in Tanzania was similar. I was born in Zululand, but brought up in the bush in Tanzania. Then I went back to SA, aged 16. I have lived 23 years in the UK, and they always say I'm South African. See my video on youtube - Speak Swahili, Dammit!
hey, i was sitting there minding my own business when the pigfuckers flew those planes into our towers, now we kill terrorists with our bullets/bombs laced with pig's blood
"We're at the home of Anneke van Wyk (the name of the lady), who believes that she sees visions in her trays of mccain real oven bake chips.
Ahhh, as I opened the oven door, this warmth rushed over me, and there in the chips, I saw it - a vision. I called oom Gertie (uncle Gertjie - also a name) over for verification, and he could see it too couldnt you Gertjie.
I had a South African university professor whom I showed a video to, and he said just that. "Some of these comments are... quite racist, aren't they?"
It's only listed because the boers made a stink about it in the 70's, and they pressured the UN to list it as a language because it was "cultural property".
and no, I don't speak dutch, but I speak Afrikaans fluently
Last time I checked, Afrikaans was listed as an language. And with regard to them sounding like they speak Dutch with a lisp, I presume you speak Dutch fluently?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
And I noticed that Afrikaans, when read and heard, it sounds kind've like broken Dutch--like, there are some differences in Grammatical structure, and words for food items seem to be different (and spellings) but that's the extent of it

it wasn't our government (besides some of the Bush administration), it was the bankers that run/own the world.

No we just want you teabaggers in the middle east to stop fighting with each other, blowing yourselves up, and destabilizing world security.

the guy is called Gerkie? :p sy het Gerkie geseg, nie Getrjie nie tog?
(ek weet my afrikaans is nie goe nie, ek is Belgies)

@samgar2
I think it sounds like she is calling him "Garki" because in Afrikaans the "-tjie" ending sounds more like "-ki". So Gertjie becomes "Gerki".

Zuid-afrikaanse reclames zijn de beste!
South African adverts are the best!
... take Evita Bezuidenhout's Nando's A-N-C advert for example (look it up here if you haven't)

Very strange. An ad of course, but very strange. Even scary.
If this ad was aimed at the effective selling of a product, it gives an idea of the target audience.
No way am I going to buy McCain without a shiver down my spine.
