@vibol03 it takes a while, prob about 2 hours. It takes even longer if you are using the computer while it is defragmenting and how heavily fragmented the disk is.

how about you use recovery manager and restore the PC to its factory settings? wipes all junk, viruses, etc. CAUTION! Be sure to make a back up first, becuase it wipes EVERYTHING!

@OniYoshiable It's even better if you just re-install the operating system because factory setting usually have unnecessary applications installed on them like netflix etc. However, it is impossible to reinstall the OS cleanly with a recovery DVD. That is what I hate about laptop and desktop manufacturers.

i think if you delete it, you will not be able to hibernate your system. The registry is practically a big system file of your entire OS. If you registry clean using a bad cleaner and it deletes important entries in your registry then your computer may not function properly

There are hundreds of registry cleaning programs. Most of them aren't efficient and can delete important registry entries. I only recommend the registry cleaner in CCleaner and Tuneup Utilities and I have had no problems after using them.

I got an easier idea. Go into notepad and type in mystring=(80000000) with 7 0s and then save it as ram.vbs and double click and it makes your computer run a little bit faster because it clears the ram and it really works I did this on my shit computer and it acutally worked.

Are you talking about overclocking you processor so that it performs better? Well it depends if your mother board has a dip switch. I think there's another way by messing around with the jumpers. However, it is best not to overclock your processor because it can cause problems later.

It's either you have Windows 7 or Windows Vista. Get the specs of starcraft 2 and compare it with your computer. If you need more memory (ram) you'll have to purchase, you won't need more than 4GB of RAM. The second thing is if your computer is desktop or laptop. The third is your video card. The video card is most important, if your video card is horrible, not even having 8GB of memory could make it any better. Most cheap laptops with good specs has intel integrated graphics.

My video card is bad, it's a mobile intel(r) 4 series express chipset family. I have 4 gigs of memory and games from 2005 have bad fps on my system. I don't even try downloading games from 2007 and up because most newer games won't work entirely. There's nothing really you can do if you have a bad video card on a laptop. If you have a desktop then you can buy a better one and put it in.

Well downgrading to windows xp is not possible without wiping your harddrive. Windows 7 can be upgraded from vista without wiping your system but wiping your system is best to ensure the best performance

I did but it's rather long and deals with system patching that can be dangerous if you don't do it right. I think there are simpler ways out, like UniversalThemePatcher but you'll need to know if your system is 32-bit or 64-bit before you patch.

Did you know what step specifically caused this. What I believed you did was that you probably disabled one of the itune services or startup. I think Itunes has a specific startup that runs in the background for that purpose. You maybe disabled it.

When you say shadow copies you mean system restore right. Well you see system restore points are usually supposed to be on your system so restoring factory settings won't stop it from creating restore points. Restore points can easily take up 15 - 20 gigs when it reaches it's maximum. However restore points may be needed to restore your system to a previous time if something drastic happens. I'll tell you how to turn it off or set the amount of space you want it to use up in the next comment.

Go to the start menu and right click computer and press properties. To the left there are four links, click on System Protection. If you want to configure it, click configure. Right there is an option to turn it off or a slide bar to set the percentage of the amount of harddrive space to use. For me i have a 320 gig harddrive and it was automatically set to a lil more than 3% of that, so the maximum space that can be used is 11 gigs.

However those old shadow copies may still be there so you'll need to manually remove them. If you use the program ccleaner, you can easily get rid of them by going to tools > system restore. Select them and remove them.

It's a custom theme so that's why the start menu looks different. And I set the Aero transparency on my taskbar. You'll have to patch your system in order to use custom themes though.

I never used vista glazz to patch my system but i've been hearing about it. I did it the long way, anyway you can download the universal theme patcher (which is easier). Create a restore point and patch your system. You must first know if your system if 32 bit or 64 bit or you may patch the wrong files.

here imo. alot of people have less than 3 gigs of ram. you want more speed and less problems get more ram. i have 8 gigs of ram and my cpu is always around 2 percent usage and ram is running around 17 perecent. don't expect alot if you buy cheap computers. if you spend alot of time on the internet consider upgrading.
