  • BRAVISIMO!

  • Holy shit. They should get you in to replace Matt Cameron...

  • Excellent cover!

  • That was excellent! I'm sure Dave A. would approve. And, just a question out of curiosity . . . I assume you're left-handed? If so, why don't you have your kit reversed? I've seen other left-handed drummers who also have their kit set up like you and always wondered about that.

  • Nice cover!

  • dude awesome cover. ive been wanting to cover this song but its difficult. this vid is motivating me to try it right now haha

  • Awesome man! Keep it up

  • i mean god damn that was good

  • DAVE IS SMILING AT U RIGHT NOW

  • Nice work bro!! Especially the fills in after the solo.....thats got to be tough!

  • Opened handed FTW =)

  • i can do that double hit faster like you :D

  • hehe the hole kit are shaking:P

  • Savage Cabbage

  • excellent ... you have technical hands, very good drummer

  • Nice job. I will soon have a Roland and was wondering if u have any regrets. Any problems with the set. Response, trigger not sounding etc. Look forward to hearing from u.

  • I play openhanded on a right handed drum set just like you. We are few who play like that. :) Great cover btw!

  • @litenmorot

    Me too :D

But I swapped the ride and crash around, does that still count? :S

  • that shit is on point, homeboy.

  • That sick. Nice job

  • I signed in just to say that was actually awesome. That is all.

  • What kit are u using...I'm referring to the one you selected in the brain of the Roland? Ex: heavy, arena, tight, etc?? Dis u have to tune these to match the song?

  • The best drum cover of Pearl Jam on Youtube!

  • Awesome cover!!!

  • Nice to see another left handed drummer!!! Good stuff. Just get those 32nd notes nailed at 13-15 secs in and it will be nailed.

Check out my stratus cover on my channel if you get a chance. Peace

  • I find it odd that you don't use your right hand for the hi-hat and left hand for snare.

  • I find it odd that you're not wearing a shirt.

  • es mas facil en una bateria de esas la neta la neta aora toca en una acustica

  • nice left hand technique

  • Perfection. That's the word. Amazing job, man. Wish i had a drummer like you. xD

  • dude, nice! Well done :)

  • make some new covers..? :)

  • Awesome cover mate! But whats up with your hands?

  • Nice cover and very nice roland :D

  • Hey dude, I love this cover - nice work!

I have a td-12, what settings do you have for the snare (and toms) here? Sounds great!

    Cheers!

  • will some one explain to me how that god damn hell toe technique is even possible? its called for in so many occaisions but i cant seem to get it

  • Nice cover, I like the positioning of your hands on the hi hat and snare.

  • bien, bien...

  • Very nice cover. Good song.

  • tremendous

  • this is defo one on my cover list!

    Nice job man!!

If u lot wanna check out open handed playing look for Simon Phillips.

  • flawless

  • Very good....

also he's la efty but he plays the bass with his right foot... so he's a HL =P (Half-Lefty xD)

  • @RickGTA He's not left-handed he's playing what's called open-handed meaning the right and left hands when playing the hi-hat and snare do not cross over, Some people find this gives them more freedom and room.

  • piola (Y)

  • Good drumming and great sound from the Roland. Playing with left hand lead on a traditional set up is referred to as OHD: Open Handed Drumming. It offers more unique orchestration of beats around the kit. Dom Fumularo's book: Open-Handed Playing, shows how to take full advantage of this way of playing.

  • go home lefty! >=| kidding. nice kit.

  • best pj cover of go ive seen so far

  • Mike Bordin from Faith No More plays the same way, a leftie on a right handed kit, only hihat and ride cymbal are replaced.

Good play, however i'm not into these electronic kits, for inside use it's pretty good !

  • Props for open-handed playing. Trying to learn, but it's crazy hard. It's not so much that my left hand can't lead, it's that my right hand isnt as intricate, like with ghosting and upbeat 16ths.

    Good job!

  • @RubgyDrums i think he's left handed...

  • @OrionDrums Might be. But a lot of open-handed players are rightie, that want more freedom around the kit.

  • I'm loving the videos... I'm thinking about a TD-12 or might get the TD-9... really haven't decided. Awesome videos and cool set up!!

  • nice job..but i have a ? why u play the snare with the right hand?

  • Its another way of playing. I play the snare with my left, like a lot of people, but this style is also used.

  • ok sounds great ur drums 10+

  • he's a lefty... duh

  • best version of this on you tube---dude you wail and nailed it! I am a HUGE Dave A fan and you hit it all....well done.

  • yeeeeah! it's briiiilliant man!

  • Hey dued i just bougth a td 12kv. But i need some help with the bass drum beacouse its not stabilized, i use a double bass drum pedal as well. I See you have a blue carpet under you drum set, but its look like you have done sonething more to the bass drum??? :D

  • 2:00 I loved that part...and could never figure it out!

  • that's awesome!!!! really tight

  • just picked up trap set and thought id get back into it, ...lol, haven't played since high school so it'll be intresting.....Your really good man! Hope to play as well as you some day.

  • You're my hero.

Open handed drumming is my favorite style, and you do it very well!

Excellent cover, can't wait to see more.

  • Very niceeeeee. especially towards the end, very dave goes does he trademark "hit loads of crashes" accent thing,

    5 stars

  • how do you make such a movie? i want to do it too but i dont know how to begin... Could someone explain plz

    thx xD

    oh yea: Very nice!!

  • Ha ha. I have an acoustic set, but can't play that at home sadly.

And not much chance with the shirt - that room is boiling hot!

  • Same i got a acoustic set but sadly i live in a flat, i be investing in a TD-12 in the coming months just to have something to play love the sound of the kit, plus i like the way can experiment with different sounds.

  • Muy bueno che!

  • Nicee work. v tight.

  • great vid but its nothing like the real song, but a little improv cant hurt i guess

  • Brilliant mate

  • Hi, cheers for the comment!

Yeah as with all my covers, I pretty much play them as I remember them, without studying the original in too much detail.

It gives it my own flavour too if it's a little different!

  • Great sound for an electronic drum ;)

I just think the drum bass part is not really the same as the original, but good job !

    Keep on rocking' !

    Greetings from France

  • Great job man! Sounded awesome!

  • Hi... unfortuntately best buy has disappointed me... they sold me the kit... when it arrived they told me it didn't come with the stand. This was after making me wait for a little over a month. Then they told me I'd have to wait until 9-16 to get the stand... Crazy... was furious.. I cancelled the whole thing... Have ordered it from somewhere elese.. Should be here next week.. Still waiting to make all the connections like we talked about...keep on drumming!

  • Hi there...

I'm still waiting for my td-12... I've been going to best buy every week to see if it's in... It's supposed to be in by this saturday.. I'm going to explode if it's not in... Hope to post a video soon.. I've already bought all the cables we talked in our previous post.. Can't wait!

  • I'm getting ready to cover this song hopefully this week & upload the vid. There's some stuff that I hear differently on the recording than what you're playing. But hopefully you'll hear my version soon. 5 stars man!!! Great stuff!!

  • 1 question. The part on 1:23 do you do snare first then the crash? or is it crash first then snare? or snare & crash at the same time?

  • Hi there,

If we're looking at the same part, it's snare first then crash..?

    Cheers

  • Sweet. Yeah after listening to it again I hear the snare first now. Thanks!!

  • @movisman hey are you left handed?

  • dude, well done, you nailed all the fills. impressive. I have never played one of those sets b4. do ghost notes work?

i liked it tho. drummer and HUGE pear jam fan myself...and this is one of the best out there.

  • Hey, thanks for the comment, much appreciated! Yeah ghost notes do work, the snare has positional sensing so it feels pretty realistic for an electronic kit!

    Cheers

  • that was awesome!!! please do some more pearl jam!! great drumming

  • Thanks!

Ah...more Pearl Jam you say? I'll do my best when I get some time to do more covers! ;O)

    Thanksw

  • Hi there,

Yep - that sounds about right. One tip is to use the monitor on Audacity to get the levels, so the input is as high as poss without clipping too much.

I think I left the laptop around 50% for the line in, 100% for master out (on the laptop), then used the master out volume on the TD-12 to get the correct input level. Mix In on the TD-12 decides how high the input track is played on the recording. You'll have to experiment to get it right, but you get there in the end.

    Cheers

  • So you went from your laptop out to the mix in, in order for you to be able to listen to the song on your headphones and be able to play along with it?? Then you went from a Y-split 2x6.35mm (left & right) to single stereo 3.5mm that went from your Master Out to Line In on your laptop to be able to record what your are playing through audacity?? I ordered my td-12 and am anxiously waiting for it.. If all of the information above is correct.. thx... learned a lot from you..

  • Hi there,

Basically here are the cables I used to capture the sound:

3.5mm to 6.35mm stereo jack lead (to go from the laptop to mix in on the TD-12) - I used a stereo 3.5mm to 3.5mm with a 6.35mm adapter on one end.

2x6.35mm mono (left and right channel) to 3.5mm stereo lead - this one goes from the Master Out on the TD-12 to the line in on my laptop.

I just used Audacity (free) to capture the input and made sure the volume was not clipping too much by using the 'monitor' function.

    Cheers!

  • hey man nice cover. just a question. you mentioned having the two extra crashes through aux 1 and 2 on the module. i was of the impression, probably wrongly, that the td12 can only support one extra tom and one extra cymbal. through those ports respectively. is there a way to get more on the kit without any extra expense. getting a td12 in a couple of weeks and was just wondering on upgrades. your answer is appreciated.

  • Hi there, cheers for the comment.

I use Aux 1 for my extra tom and Aux 2 for the my extra crash, so all of my inputs are now taken. The TD-12 has 2 other crash inputs as standard and a separate ride input, so you could have 4 toms, 3 crashes, a ride, and the other stuff (like I have).

However I believe you can map Aux 1 and 2 to any sound, so if you only had 3 toms for example, you could use both Aux inputs for 2 extra crashes.

    Hope this helps!

  • Great Druming - 2 questions:

Q1: How do you record with the TD12?

Q2: how did you add 2 cy? isn't it that on the td12 modul you can add only one more CY and One more TOM?

thanks! i'm buying a td12 in 2-3 weeks, so i want all the information i can get :)

    Have a Nice day

  • Hi there,

    Thanks for the comment!

There are lots of ways to record, but I plugged a cable from the headphone out on my laptop, into the mix in on the module. Then I plugged a cable from the master out on the module to the line in on the laptop. I used Audacity to capture the audio.

As for the crashes, I added the extra crash via AUX 2 on the back - the other two crashes are in Crash 1 and 2 respectively. The extra tom is in AUX 1. However the module is pretty much maxed out now!

    Cheers

  • thanks!

    i've learned a lot! :)

can't wait to buy the td12!

keep on rocking and posting great videos dude!

  • Awesome!

  • Great drumming! What kit are you using? Is it a standard TD-12 kit?

  • Hey, thanks for the comment! Yeah, it's a standard TD-12 with a couple of additions, basically an extra PD-105 (used as the floor tom) and 2 extra CY-12R/C cymbals. Everything else is standard...!

  • Cool. Is it a standard TD-12 patch or is it a custom patch? Sounds rad.

  • I based it on a standard TD-12 patch, but it's customised pretty heavily to get the sound I wanted..!

  • Wonderfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you're fantasti!

  • id like to comment again i forgot to say some stuff. u have amazing timing! The fills after 2 minutes are perfect.

  • Hey, thanks for the kind words :)

It is quite odd playing an electronic kit (so used to an acoustic), but i'm getting used to it!

  • wow niceeee. im about to put a cover up of drums for this song too.

  • Nice one - let me know when it's up!
