This is from KIKA (Kinder Kanal) a children's tv station. Only in Germany would they make a marionette show with Mouse On Mars as soundtrack. Both video and music are awesome.

What is it with Germans?

Being of German ancestory myself no wonder I feel drawn to this group. Caught their sound as background music on a PBS show's ending credits last week. Immediately bought three of their CD's on Amazon.

I wonder if Joe Zawinul of Weather Report ever caught these guys. I here quite a bit of influence from him in their instrumentation and phrasing.

Definately headphone music because I can't see anyone tolerating me blaring this out of my car stereo or apartment.

MoM has been one of my favorite music groups for a LONG time, and I had no idea they had any music videos outside of a couple they showed on AMP so long ago.

The puppets in this video are excerpts from the "Augsburger Puppenkiste", a marvellous German puppet serial.

I think they did not make the scenes especially for the video but made a collage of existing Augsburger Puppenkiste scenes for the video instead.

Amazing video, matches the music almost perfectly. I wonder how much was spent on making those crazy puppets... or how many people were pulling the strings at once (e.g. the dancing ponies). If you think about it, this really is a technical masterpiece...

The puppets pretty much look like they are from the Augsburger Puppenkiste (i. e. Augsburgian Puppet Box), a German puppet theatre that has been making unbelievably beautiful theatre and TV puppet plays for some decades.

These puppets makers and Mouse on Mars match perfectly, I think it's because because both of them are made with love for even the tiniest details and they both have a certain cuddliness and friendliness and make you instantly want to jump around when you see or hear them.
