VW calls them "W-Engines" but it is NOT a real W16. W is 3 sets of cylinders. The Veyron 16.4 has a Double-VR16-Engine because it has 4 sets of cylinders (2 x VR8) (The R because two sets of cylinders own one cylinder-head like a in-line-engine / Reihenmotor).

Only the Prototype "Veyron 18.4" had a REAL W-Engine with 3 sets of 6 cylinders.

cmon man take a real look at it. it weighs over 2 tonnes. the engine weighs 400kgs aluminum. it has non sense w16 design. a mystic quad turbo. a waste of weight. thus its ugly, huge and only two seat. the only 'cool thing' is that it goes 250mph stock. but if you have the know how you can make a much more better car that goes as fast as that for a 1/4th of the prize veyron costs. its for overgrown pussies that still like supercars.

It has that weight so its stable at speed. More weight gives better stability, it's the other option to a worse cD or more dowforce. Either and/or of those three will give you more stability.

The engine weighs so much because of its design, and also to aid the car's stability with its weight. And its large size is due to its aerodynamics.

And anybody who says you can make something faster for cheaper, yes that's true, but a Veyron is a Veyron.

It's all there for a reason.

how is the w-16 a nonsense design? im not saying you cant get the same amount of horsepower the veyron makes from a regular v-8 or v-10, but really its not tht bad of a an idea. with two v-8's working together your only puttin about half the stress on each one instead of all of it on one. and with the 2 engines you can achieve what you call the "mystic quad turbo". and all these single engine cars tht have well over 1000hp, do you see them going past 252mph?

no you dont because the veyron doesnt have just great engine output, but great aerodynamics and weight distrubtion which allows it to go at these speeds safely. the engine isnt the only things thts innovative about this car. personally i dont really want a veryon, but not because its a "fail", i just would enjoy fixing up a more "regular" and less exotic tht comes with a bunch of mods stock.

It'll do 413km/h officially, and apparentely a bit more unofficially. 0-100km/h takes 2.7 seconds. By comparison, it's useless next to the Veyron. On its own, it's not a half bad car.
