thanks for posting this... i wasn't sure what the lighting wold be like underwater... i'd be interested mainly for beach shots and a few ocean underwater shots and it seems it'll do the job...

i am looking into getting the camera but every single review says it has battery life. how long does the battery actually last?

@laduedancer10 Battery life isn't great for sure. One occation I was taking a lot of picutres and videos and also playing them back again. And the battery ran out quickly on me that one time. I think it was probably two three hours of on and off use with and without flash. I've never measure its battery life scientifically, but it is for sure worse than my old Casio Exillim 7??? series.

I really want this camera, I currently use the Kodak v1253 but I need to upgrade. I want this camera, is it the best waterproof sony camera? does it take 16:9 photos? I need that option.

@bengalz3 I believe the tx5 is the only waterproof Sony camara in the market currently. Yes, it does take 16:9 photos.

wow thats fucking great, you should make a slide show of a bunch of different pictures to show the quality of them. I saw two pictures from the sony website reviews and they really discouraged me for a second, idk if the pictures were resized because of the internet or something. but it would be great if u made a slideshow.

We used this camera twice, and now the screen is soo scratched. The rest of the camera might be "rugged" but the screen is far from it.

I saw DigitalRevCom's review so I knew it probably isn't the best camera for sandy/rocky beaches because sand can get trapped under the slider. It is advertised as dust proof but not scratch proof. Good luck with it and I hope yours still take great quality pictures!

This is the best compact camera I've had so far. In fact the image could be twice as clear if this were to be an outdoor pool. I took this video at night and the lighting was okay.
