You really don't want to deal with potassium, stuff is a pain to make, but you can make sodium fairly easily with lye, sodium reacts with water nicely too. Research it a bit, lye is Sodium Hydroxide, the process you'll want to look at is called the Castner Process.

@DjGizzo in highschool my science teacher took alot of improperly stored potassium,and through it on our football field,it was winter.it had a massive explosion within seconds of contact with snow.Best teacher ever :D

@mrfunside Potassium metal is its elemental form. In the tablets it will be combined with something else (called a compound).
