  • Is the Pandayan as good as the model 42?

  • @swampshot For flipping, no. Not even close. Build quality definitely.

  • @sungwei9 I've been looking around but I have had no luck finding a 42. I'm just going to wait for the 62 I guess.

  • @swampshot 62 I think will actually be not bad at all. And it's affordable. Haha.

  • @sungwei9 i want one really badly, do u think i should wait for the benchmade 62? I have a 51 but i love the matal handle style.

  • overpriced? yep but consider when benchmade was still pacific cutlery co. titanium handles were a $1000 OPTION!!! so the equivalent of a 42 with a t latch would cost you around $1,250 so $350 is a little steep.

  • @FatGuyWithAKatana ...but it's a hell of a lot better than twelve hundred.

  • Who cares about the price .. But the availability and legality

  • @potatoheadhaoy.. Your right dude.. It's funny how huge folding knives and other knives are perfectly legal .. Balisongs require "skill" to open

  • Hey everybody I have an idea.. What if we all write to bench made requesting that they bring back this wonderful knife ? Who cares if the price goes up a bit... I would just like to find one in America for god sakes. I want a good flipper

  • @mannr100

I fear you`ll have to tell the government officials in your country to stop demonizing balisongs and start facing the fact that it is only Hollywood that fuels the silly, silly misconception that they`re "thug knives." ;)

P.S. I really wish they`d bring back the legendary 42. The prices here are "jacked," and that`s being optimistic.

  • This knife always looks good, but its overpriced. I think Benchmade would make money if they just brought it back at its original price point/model. Between $100 - $150 range is good for me. The point made about it not being custom is a great point.

I've only been looking around for this balisong for a couple days and what I've learned is its a great example of how supply and demand works.

  • I paid $183 for mine, before they were discontinued. If I lost it would I pay $400 for a new one? I may. I'd try for the sprint runs first.

  • were can I buy a benchmade 42 in England?

  • I remember looking to buy one recently, and saw it priced at 1,000!

  • Its overpriced for sure but I think its still a great knife despite not having flipped a baliballistic or other customs. I like the Ti and it feels like a high quality construction. I wouldnt pay $350 for another one. I bought mine for just over $200 and that was about the most I was willing to spend for it about 2 years ago. For a nice 47 I might consider a bit more but thats not here nor there :p

  • Is the 42 overrated, no.

    is it overpriced, YES.

Would I buy one for 400$? Yes I would, simply because it's such a unique blade (In my opinion).

  • 400 DOLLARS? omfg overrated 100%

  • great video and great question. I have to agree with some of the comments. It's not overrated, just overpriced. It's more readily available than any custom...you don't often see a balibalistic or basilisk on the 2nd hand market. Or more accurately, never. so at that price range it's kind of an empty comparison, yes you COULD get a custom...you just prolly won't. But the quality is FAR from a 350+ price point. curse you economics...

but the 42 is actually not my goto knife... can't wait for BRS

  • @akirasrequiem What's a BRS?

  • @redsnake93 wanted to wait to reply to you till after he had posted his vid from sept 12

BRS is an upstart company bringing us the best of the best

  • Remember... Overrated and overpriced are two different things. I don't think it's overrated, but definitely overpriced. That's a matter of sellers and buyers though. The 42 is one of the absolute best flippers out there without buying a custom. Even then, customs aren't necessarily good flippers. Supply/demand... it's a bitch. Get over it people. The 42 is not at all overrated in terms of flipping... but it's not worth $400.

  • *sigh* and 2 video's that won't show up in my subscription box. I really hate that sh!t youtube pulls of the last couple of months.

  • the 42 was worth it when it was under $200. i don't think it warrants the current price it demands, so you might say it's overrated.

  • i think the 42 is well worth it but my Arc Angel flips better than it LOL

  • @BulletsNBladez I should do another vid: Is the Arc Angel Underrated? Answer: YES!

  • @sungwei9 lol man, ya its very spendy but i got mine for $100, but still i do agree its over rated compared to some of the balisongs you own, but its still a cool knife.

  • While everyone who knows me knows i dont care for the 4x seris much anyways but at the prices you where saying and the quality they had ... originally no i dont think it was over rated but nowadays i think it is an extremly overated knife i dont think they should have stopped makeing them but i also dont think they needed to be a price tag of 280 at the end either so i guess in reality yes and no .. but mostly yes its ovverated

  • I'm happy with what I have now and they are too expensive for me to get one. My next bali will be the "septemberfly" But if I could find a 42 for cheap I'd get it.

  • I bought a Chinese fake BM42 for $50. After a good deal of tinkering and polishing I genuinely love it now even though it is pretty crappy. I know it's bad to buy from fakers but I'm not paying $350 and the fake gives me a good idea what the real thing must be like. It is a classic design and I prefer the length and brushed stainless finish to that of the Kimuras I own.

  • @deceptivepanther where did you buy it? id like to check it out

  • @HK47able It is uncool amongst knife collectors to say as we shouldn't be supporting fakers. However any search for cheapo Chinese mega sites will turn it up. Otherwise you can PM me. Cheers.

  • I miss my BM42 :(

  • over rated? no... over priced? yes, but that is not the fault of the knife, but rather of the ppl that insist on buying one after it has been discontinued. i picked my 42 a couple of months before benchmade pulled it off it's production line and paid about $180, knowing that i could easily double my investment now, i would not sell it off because i could not find another for it's original price and im not about to spend 400 bucks for a 150-180 dollar bali.

  • Ahaha yeah if I had one XD the only expensive knife I own is my model 51 morpho, and the only reason I got it was cuz it was given to me.

  • Continued. For feel, weight, balance and style. A 42 and any 4x is a sight to behold. I do favor the old Samsons, Balibalistic and Matt Cook for just a few Grants more.

  • It is overhyped and since no one knows Balisongs aside from the 42, it has the notoriety. Is it worth $350+? I say for what customs are going for, Yes. There are no other channeled Springlatch Titanium Balisongs for less than $700. Tolerances are not as good as a 29, Gedraitis or Balibalistic, and it's not handmade. If priced similarly, though, I would favor a custom over a 42. Then again, I have 4 different 42s. ;). These days a $100 knife is a Kimura and it sucks compared to a 42 for fee

  • hell yeah its overrated, ive been using a 5 dollar balisong since i was 7 and it still flip with it today alot. you guys should stop being knife snobs and grow some

  • I think, for what it is, the 42 is extremely overrated. I mean, sure it's an excellent quality knife an it looks great, but I don't understand what all the hype is about. At the end of the days it's just as much of a balisong as one that was made in china.

  • @Ch40sPh4nt0m I'll give you my twist for your 42 then. LOL!

  • @Ch40sPh4nt0m o.O
