My friend did it, the key is patience, the reason you can't swallow is because it makes your mouth dry, hold it there a few minutes to allow your mouth to salivate, moisten it and then you can swallow it.

As for cinnamon, I've seen people manage it before (look on YouTube for a marine doing it) as well as my own partner!
