Why would it have mattered if Lucia Whalen had said that she saw two black men standing on the porch? If they were black, was she supposed to say that they were white so that she didn't look racist? It was the duty of the dispatcher to ask questions pertaining to the race of the men. If it was, in fact, an actual burglary, and the suspects were now walking away from the scene, the responding officers need an accurate physical description of the suspects. Race baiting is absolutely pointless.

This wasn't about racial profiling. Sergeant Crowley (funny how Gates is referred to as Dr., Obama is referred to as President, but Crowley doesn't even get a Mr.) arrived and asked Dr. Gates to come out and speak with him for a second--normal protocol for investigating a B&E--and Dr. Gates automatically said something to the effect of, "Why? Because I'm a black man in America?"

Dr. Gates deserves some of the blame-not for the arrest, but for the escalation-but you won't hear it from Jackson.
