with all due respect, this version is lacking the real rhythm of the song, which is THE special feature that makes it so special. It should sound like a flow of water (which is what the title of the song means after all - all the water that flows after a tropical rain). Without that, it is just an ordinary song.
Water flows in MANY rhythms. I like how Bossa Saravah varies the rhythm. I'm hardly unbiased, but I've listened to several versions of this beautiful song tonight, enjoying them all, but this one is still my favorite -- it's also the one that introduced the song to me. The only time I've heard it better was when I heard these same musicians play it live.
Then I liked it a lot. Youre doing a very nice job. I admire those people who play any king of string instruments. A pro musician must do it and you do it very well. Thanks for posting the video.
Hello Mercedez. I thought about recording that music but after seeing your recording, I will think twice before doing. the video was very beautiful relaxed and plenty original and the music is beautiful.
My first day back from Chicago, and this is the first tune I wanted to hear. I vote (not that I have the right -- I've got the left!) that this goes on your album.

now the funniest of all is to realize here that americans think that they can even do brazilian music better than brazilian people themselves. top presumption too.
Consider this: this band attracts many fans through their great videos, many of whom would have otherwise lived out their entire lives without hearing a single Jobim song. I, for one, have been familiarizing myself with the original classics throughout my own YouTube bossanova odyssey.
Furthermore, nobody is claiming that these renditions are superior to the originals. The only "presumption" here is your allegation of arrogance toward passionate and open-minded musicians.
ei, voce e brasileira ou nao? Mercedezzz, I cannot believe if you tell me you are not brazilian. O cara no violao e com certeza. Mas e as meninas? Tell me.
Sorry, none of us is brasilian. Mercedezzz's father is Ecuadorian, which is the closest any of us gets to South America. Janet has been to Brasil for a month or so in the 90s. Marylee and I are still waiting to get our S. American cred.
Wow, that's impressive. It's the best so called "foreign" band playing Brazilian music from many I've heard and seen. All the joy you transmit is just like being in Brasil. Thanks for sharing. Congrats for achieving such quality. Really happy to find you all here.
Really nice. Great job everyone. As to the beginning., Hey I like to see someone grooving out to the rhythm. Emily Remler said, you've got to feel the swing in your whole body. At least that's how it is for me, so now I feel self-conscious. Besides, by the end you all were swaying!
Thanks for the sermon. I will continue head-banging and bobbling with impunity! And that is a lovely tune I had not heard before. Also I'm glad Emily came to mind--I just did a search and discovered there's a bunch of her on here.
Thanks; this is from Jobim's "nature period." The young women in front were complaining that my light was too bright in their eyes, so I moved it. I agree it could use more light; I'll have to find a softer light so they can stand it.
Loved the little conversation at the beginning, you have a great group of friends. I truly enjoyed when everyone sings together. And as always, your voice is like liquid velvet.
Been hooked for the last two months. Enjoying and looking forward to each new addition. Just put my eight year old daughter to sleep with this, each of us with one ear piece each to listen. Thanks!
Looks like i am the first one to view this beauty. Love it! Great song, fun execution. Awesome chorus! Ha! You guys can really pack that apartment too. Tiny band is getting pretty big. Bye from Seattle.
It's amazing how Marylee can sleep on top of the wardrobe, while Mercedes curls up like a cat next to the warm computer. Janet doesn't seem to sleep at all, so she's usually up banging on pans etc.
you are very good, an interpretation better than the original.
to the singer : you are fantastic!
