The strength of religion lies in emotional blackmail and other forms of manipulation. Don't get me wrong, these may be very convincing, but they can be used to make anyone believe any lie.
You can use all the metaphors and selective examples that support your point that you want, but that doesn't make you right. Of course murders have occurred in the name of God, but they have also occurred in situations that had nothing to do with religion. It doesn't make any one murder more terrible than the other. When you blame religion for mass murder you ignore man's natural capacity for apathy and the man-made concept of "evil."

Talk about hinduism instead of vedanta becuase thats just a philosophy within hinduism...The best relgion of the top 5 in the world is without a doubt Sikhism. Hindusim is too ritualistic, idol worship,cast systems, whereas you would need to do your own research on Sikhism to understand why i make that claim. I agree and disagree.... there are some wars because that try to destroy the enemies religion with their own religion, but I think that most wars are for POWER and many of those Power Wars are fought under the guise of a religious war because that makes it more acceptable to many of the religious people.

Think of all the people they're religion has killed over the years. I don't believe that religion is the "worst drug". The basic principles of religion are exremely helpful, but there are radical believers who create a bad image for the entire religion. Whenever there are radical followers of any group of people, the public only seems to notice the negative things that are done by the radicals, rather than the good deeds being done by the majority of believers.
