I really wish they would do something with this beautiful building <3 i feel if maybe, we do something with it, it could kinda raise Detroit's hopes and get us back on track
It has a strange beauty in its present sad state. Maybe Detroit's future lies in it becoming a showcase for all that can go wrong, serving as a sort of museum of the dead, a model of warning.
You can restore the train station. But I don't think turning it into a business will work because NO ONE in their right mind would want to go to Detroit. Poor City lost it's Industry. It's dying or dead already. A complete overhaul wouldn't fix Detroit.
@lhsowdal It is dead already. The only thing that might save it is buildings like this being turned into land marks. Tourists come money flows but unfortunatly they cant seem to find a mayor worth a shit.
You know this place if properly renovated would be a cool casino and resort. At first I thought just a really nice hotel, but it's too big to only be a hotel. It's sad really. I've been digging through vids and online info and this isn't the only significant piece of architecture left to rot in Detroit. I think this and the Michigan Theater/Parking Garage get to me the most. Detroit needs to reinvent itself the way Pittsburgh did. Despair and ruin will all it will be known for until then.
i think that they should leave it alone personally. leave it as an artifact of a past age... of not only detroit but america itself, which detroit is a relic of in many ways. my parents used to tell me how great the city used to be, but this is the only detroit i have ever known growing up. it's sort of beautiful in a way, but devastating in all the same sense. detroit in the winter is one of the bleakest places on earth,
its sad about how many people have stereotyped detroit in so many different ways...i have lived here for years and it is a very beautiful place... so before u say its a terrible place to live and go there if you want to die, actually visit here and ull see how beautiful it really is
Detroit makes me feel fine, in and out of dumpsters all the time. Dont be afraid to care. Be yourself. Dont let the world be like this. Try, pickup a piece of paper.
I am sure there is a beauty in Detroit....somewhere, that you find appealing. I find the utter ruins in these films beautifull and scary. I am not trying to knock your hometown....but the population is greatly reduced....like from 1913 era times..... You are 100% right though about the politicians though.... Check out Steven Crowders video about Detroit, he hits the nail right on it's rusting head.
If this was NYC,the building could be saved. The city wanted to tear down Grand Central Station and Jackie Kennedy O pitched a fit along with the Historical Society and they didn't.
Just think how far 10 million could have gone to turn this building around....that's what kwame's dumb ass cost the city...and im sure the true tab won't be known for years
yeah, the train station was a work or art. a masterpiece. and now i hear that they're tearing it down. hey, here's an idea, instead of building new new buildings and keeping the old ones up....how about we renovate the existing building to make them beautiful again? not build new ones and have the old ones rot out. and if ya do build new ones, tear that shit down and put something in it's place. i'm sick of detroit being known as a "has been."
This building should have been a historical landmark. It looks fairly good from a distance. It is strange why they would allow it to rot. The least the City could have done is secure it to keep drug addicts and homeless from vandalizing it.
Clarence Mc Ghee You are right. I forgot the state on Michigan is broke. I stil think it is a fairly good looking building for its time. It would be nice if it could be saved.
I would really like to go into the depot sometime....does anyone have information about the best way to enter/exit? Are there many issues with police? Ive been outside the building before, and Im in AWE. EPIC infiltration!!
The One thing That Gets Me Is How Nobody Is Really Trying To Save The Building, To Me It is The Most Historical Land Mark In Detroit, There Has Got To Be Something The City Of Detroit Or The City Council Can Do To Revive This Amazing Building, I mean If It Isn't Enough That They're Tearing Down Tiger Stadium Because Nobody But Ernie Harwell Tried To Save That Wonderful Place.
i been in the train station a few times. its the shit at night. if u go u need to have people with u cuz there are crack heads an other people running around in there. u can get in under a vydock were sheet metal is torn off and grafetti says troys house. the floor has holes in it and the stairs has missing steps. go all the way to the roof because its a beautiful veiw of detroit.
