Yeah JellyBean2144 I was 9 turning 10 that year and remember it very well. Sampson was my idol I watched him win the State title in high school. He's what made me become a VA Cavaliers fan. I always felt he got a bad rap for not winning a college and NBA title. Had Othel Wilson not gotten hurt I felt they would have won at least 1.

VA got screwed in this game by the refs! The powers that be wanted Carolina to win this game after the Cavs beat them twice that year! I was so glad Indiana won the championship that year.

Many great players and great teams never won the championship. Ralph was great and the main reason I became a rabid college basketball fan. Anybody who watched him play and says he's wasn't great is just crazy.

The first two goaltending calls on Sampson were correct, but the third one was a bad call, clean block that time. Poor ref, had a 7'4" man running after him !!

Shot wasn't peaked. Sampson's block was clean, but the official blew the call. Regardless, who really cares? The game was played almost 30 years ago and means nothing today.

Dang. This takes me back! I remember watching this game on NBC.I was 10 years old when this game was played. Ralph Sampson was my hero.
