  • could you reveal the secret behind keeping the black shark black? :D mine are either gray or grayish black, but yours are pure black and I love them!

  • I would not put tetra with those aggressive fishes. They will kill tetras (neons) and goldfish, and guppies

  • you shouldnt have three together

  • AMAZING TANK!!! I love that piece of driftwood with all of it's little hiding places! What type of wood is that?

I also agree with your comment of the territories of more than one Red-Tail Shark. I currently have 3 of them, and 2 Rainbow Sharks in a 75 gallon tank (one of which is an Albino Rainbow Shark).

I see some "chase and run" behaviors, but nothing too aggressive so far. One exception is my video titled "SHARK FIGHT". View it, if you get a chance. It's why I need some driftwood.

  • i taught these sharks attack and harass other fish ??!

  • i wanted to ask i have this 10gal and a pictus catfish and a redtail shark but the tank is divided in half by a a divider i'm waiting untill they get big so i can get a 72 gal or a 100 will a 72 gallon with a divider down the middle be enough for these two fish? please some one reply? :I

  • how many gallons

  • Beautiful aquarium

  • I have to say that is a awesome fish tank. do you have live plants and do you like them, i love mine.

  • would a rainbow shark be okay in a 10g tank long? i really want one but i cant get another tank. i have two other fish in there and they are tiger barbs

  • nice video i like ur red-tailed sharks, were they always so vibrant with their colors or did it get better with their growth?

  • I am thinking of picking up a small group of 5 for my aquarium. My only concern is that I have Jumbo Tetras, Angel Fish and Pangasius or Pahroon Sharks. These are all large fish but the Red Tails get pretty big too! Around 6" or more. My aquarium is pretty long and wide, but it's only 80 gallons.

    I'll have to continue researching.

  • my red tail shark is huge ! hes like 6 inches long and not even 2 month old i hope he doesnt get much bigger. but the guy at petco told me that you should only have one but i want to add another cause all he does is hide when i come near the tank . nice setup tho im moving mine to a 30 gallon tank tomorrow so i think im gonna pick up another in the am. good vid

  • This is absolutely one of the coolest tanks Ive ever seen! I love your choice of fish and would totally like to set up a tank prettty much just like you have. Nice work! Do the tiger bars ever harrass the gouramis though??

  • Very NICE!

  • i like the way there mouths are constantly moving like there trying to speak.

  • What kind are thoes fish at :10

I need to know please reply pleeeezzz!!!

  • @12898warrior

The two striped ones on the left? They are Tiger barbs (Puntius tetrazona).

  • @n03lzz do you know how much they cost at a petsmart if they sell them.

    can they eat flakes?

  • @12898warrior, Petsmart does have them. I paid $2.50 for a small one there 2 weeks ago. He settled right in to my 33 long community tank full of Glofish and schools of various Tetras. He lives in a ceramic skull and is constantly on patrol but never molests another tankmate. Some are mean though so keep an eye out for this. The blacker the body and redder the tail the healthier the fish. Look for this when you purchase one. Mine was a bit faded at the store but colored right up in his new home.

  • @12898warrior, They will eat flakes and almost any frozen treat (brine shrimp, bloodworms, etc.), but they must also have some vegetable in their diet. They will constantly graze on algae and it is good to have some in the tank. You can feed sinking algae wafers to compliment their diet if there is no live algae growing in the tank. Some owners feed lettuce, zukini (I think I butchered that word), and other veggies. I just go with the occasional algae wafer.

  • @12898warrior did you mean the pearl gourami?

  • awesome tank

  • How peaceful towards the other fish is it,i have heard they can be very agressive.

  • @17solstice i have one mot very big but he is always behind the thermomitor

im goin this week so get him some hiding places so i hope he will come out also i have not see him eating do you know anything that would be help to me? thanks

  • @Lurk1ngLurk3r Hi I had one like that and it died the next week

  • Could anyone help me out. I got a big fish tank in my room can anyone tell me a small kind of shark for my tank. Thanks

  • my red tail commited suicide last nite :( he jump straight out of my tank tru an opening by one of our filters.

  • Actually mine is 2 inches and still not showing sighs, and i doubt it will.

  • Hey, people should watch my videos to see what red tail black sharks can live with and the size of the tank also

  • @9akk00

But your RTBS is still a very small baby almost as big as a cory cat. Think about what a 6 inches long specimen would act like.

  • Awesome piece of driftwood, i love the pieces you get with the little crevices for the fish to hide in, makes it really interesting to watch :D

  • @xDANx24x

Yeah that's right. It took 3 month till it was saturated with water and sunk by itself.^^

    Nils

  • will their colors get more vivid when they get bigger like yours?

  • @Dr8co1

Their colors get brighter the more comfortable the feel.

  • What are you using as substrate?

  • @Cheddar254

    Fine round shaped river sand.

  • how did you get your barbs color so beautiful?

i bought my barbs color enhancing flakes but it aint doin nothing. theyre colours are just dull?

  • @beastwitinn Some times it can be your light.

  • @Reardon171 Wow really. hmm diddnt think of it. well i use those regular bulbs. for a regular 10 gallon starter.. old tank....so is thier any type of light that'll brighten up thier colors man?

  • @beastwitinn

You can buy those bulbs with a blueish spectrum for color enhancement. Can you upload a video of your barbs. Maybe i can find out weather it's a matter of lighting or not.

  • @beastwitinn

Like with all fish, it's a more matter of how comfortable they feel. Food can enhace the color but only if everything is alright. Maybe your bars a stressed in some way. Maybe because of to less hiding spots or because of the water quality.

  • how do u like the sand substrate as opposed to gravel? also do you have eco complete substrate below for your plants?

  • @DaMan478

I like sand much more than gravel. It's so cool how the fish interact with it. I don't use any other substrate below it. I like the fact that dirty doesn't soak into the intermediate spaces like it does with gravel. People say that you might get problems with rotting of sand because a very low water circulation in it. I never had such a problem.

  • Can i get a red tailed shark with 1 clown loach and 3 tinfoil barbs

P.S i know how big the fish i already have get, how big does the red tailed shark get? and is it good for a beginner like me?

  • @ScourageStar99

That depends on the size of your tank. Clown loaches need a group and tinfoil barbs become giants. RTBS grow up to 6 inches (15 cm). I think it's not a good beginner community and you'd need a giant tank.

  • how big do they grow to

  • @lfclikewalfc

Up to 6 inches (15 cm).

  • my red tails i told u about awhile ago. i put the smaller one in my brother 55 gallon with hisgreen terror jack dempsey 3 tinfoil barbs and fire mouth cichlid with a spotted clown pleco and a cory cat, it still hasnt grown.. the one i kept in my tank is atleast 4 inches now and its georgous.

  • @Michael7klufas6

The speed of growing often depends on the dominance or repression of the fish. That's also why the most dominant one in a group of RTBS can grow almost twice as fast as the smallest ones (But this also applies to all other competing fish species).

  • what is the red tailed black shark eating when its in the bogwood?

  • @guppyplec

It looks awesome, doesn't it? The RTBS is munching on a mouthful of sand. It's filtrating sunken flakes and stuff out of it...

  • Nice fish.

Red tails are very cool. So are tiger barbs. I used to have an all tiger barb tank.

I should do another like it.

  • @tomcat13claws

A pure tigerbarb tank, which is totally fitting to their requirements... wicked...^^

  • @n03lzz STILL GREY

  • @SomeYTchannel

Well, good that you've uploaded some videos. It's still grey because the fish you keep isn't a redtailed black shark. The quality isn't the best, but i'm kinda sure that you have a, that called: "Red-finned Loach", "Blue Botia" or "Redtail Botia". Which is closely related to "clown loaches".

Or am i wrong and you keep the RTBS in another tank, respectively it's not on the video?

  • @SomeYTchannel I had that feeling cause the nose is different and the dorsal fin was red too.

  • @SomeYTchannel

Maybe go to "loaches com" and compare it with the pictures there.

  • @n03lzz u convienced me dude

  • @n03lzz It's the one, there was no label I thought that is what it was, haven't seen a RTBS in yrs!

  • Why,again, keep tiger barbs with gouramis???also no offense, but i will never buy a rts again these guys can be nasty little guys!

  • @animalpassion777:

There is no problem keeping tiger barbs with gouramis... IF you have the right tank for it, and if you meet their requirements. I've never seen any "fin-nipping" in my tank.

And RTBS are awesome fish... but like i wrote in the info box: You also need a big tank to keep them without extreme aggressions.

  • It swims around like everything is cool stopped hiding , it's been 3-4 days still not black

  • @SomeYTchannel:

I'd wait about a week and if it's still grey there is maybe something else which stresses him. Maybe something isn't ok with the water or the food or the other community fish... But first wait and see!

  • Why don't my comment stay anywhere just not here? Btw, he is with two Blue gills, a blue channel cat, 4 Minnows and a alge eater,

  • @SomeYTchannel

    How is it now?

  • I had Barbs w/ gouramis just fine, just don't hv alot of barbs like tigers they end up like a wolf pack,

  • my shark is about 3 inches long so how old would you say it is?

  • @AngusChild:

Mine were about 2 inches when i got them and the biggest one doubled it size during the next year. So if yours were well-fed and dominant where it lived, i'd say it's about 1 to 1 1/2 years old.

  • How did you get your red tail shark fish to grow so fat and big what do you feed it? i had mine for ages and it doesn't look like it grew much or bigger lol

  • @KidFrom106:

Well, the feed mostly from aufwuchs, so a big and planted tank, is the best prerequisite. Only one of my three sharks eat flakes during the feeding time. They seem to get their part of the food later, when i don't watch them anymore.

Once a week i feed them blanched cucumber or well washed cocktailshrimps. They definitely go for that food! (But don't feed it too often.)

  • Thanks for the information about Red Tailed Black Sharks :D

  • @Nitrobreaker:

    My pleasure! =)

  • Thank you so much for the information. I have really been hoping to pick up 3 redtails with the thought of each having their own territory. and figuring the company of another of its own would keep it from picking on the other fish... but after reading your write up i will have to wait till my tank gets a little bigger. Realistically i should only keep two in this tank.

    THANK YOU!

  • Hi!

Thank you so much for your feedback. That's why i wrote it down!

    Best regards

  • Hey bud I just got a red tail, and it ain't that black all light grey, will it get black later?

  • @SomeYTchannel:

    Hi!

The color of the redtail shows you how it feels. It's more clearly recognizable than with other fish. That means: It will only color itsself deep black and red if it's not stressed and everything is ok.

  • how old is your redtail shark?

  • I keep them for (almost to the day) 1 1/2 years. So i'd guess they are ca. 2 years old.

  • @n03lzz ok thanks

  • You are always welcome!

  • Hi i have a 40 gal tank and i was wondering if this would be big enough to keep sum rtbs in along with my 3 spot gourami... if not could you please recomend some fish that i could keep in there as i am new to tropical fish keeping and my local store dont offer much help thanks

  • Even in such a tank, and even if it's a well planted tank, i think you should not try to keep rtbs. The problem is what i wrote in the video description- Of course we can find other and less aggressive tank mates. You only have this one three spot gourami in your tank?

  • I think a method to keep RTS that I stumbled upon tat might work too is placing them in a community where there is at least one fish that can stand up to it and make it fall in line. My RTS was about 4 inches when I bought her and when at the LFS, she was somewhat aggressive to other fish in her tank. But when I placed her in my community, my larger Gold Gourami established his dominance in the tank with her (he chased for about 30 min.) and now she leaves everyone alone

  • I think that's not worth copying. In your case, it maybe worked, but so many more factors are important. It would be bad if people think, they can create a peaceful tank by adding some more dominant fish. You cannot subdue fish, like dogs or something.

  • O ya, accidentally posted it before i finished.

Anyways, i also wanted to say nice vid! lol

  • Yes, i made some videos of my kuhlis. Check out "Kuhli loach searching for food / Geflecktes Dornauge [3/3]" or /watch?v=XcHoen2fyRU and it's playlist. And thank you again! :D

  • Have you ever made a video of ur Kuhli Loach?

  • WOAAAAAAAAHHHH der eine kann rückwärts schwimmen :D

    Kuhl *-*

  • Kann ich auch ;)

  • a few questions, how old are your sharks? how big r they? and is it true its better to bye them in a group then just a few?

  • Hi, the big ones are about 10cm (4 inch) maybe a little bit bigger. I wrote a little video description to give people an idea of red tails. Check it out.

  • Also,

  • genau deshalb, weil du Fische ganz cool findest... ^^

what does the fish with the white flakes at the beginning?

  • ohh will auch n aquarium!!!!

  • ach so, danke ;)
