  • L'Amiga, le seul truc vraiment bien des années 90.

  • I remember it !!!!! I liked so much and the music is awesome

  • Amiga bedroom music at it's finest. Real structure and understanding for melody as opposed to just ramble. Any more great examples of the tune variety other than this and Desert Dream?

  • Still have this demo for my Amiga 500+ on a 880k disk, was so awesome that i also transffered it to UAE through a serial cable. Nostalgia FTW! :) Azatoth is/was the man. They don't make them like this anymore.

  • one of my fav amiga demos at the time of release. was the top one till spaceballs state of the art came out, then love by fairlight. I love all of the mentioned ones for the programmers squeezing every last drop of speed out of the amiga. its still done today for the game 3D game engines. wow

  • This is a unix system. I know this.

  • @Tehtog No self-respecting game or demo would have any kind of OS in memory while running.

  • @soylentgreenb What are you on about. It's a reference to Jurassic Park and the scene at 2:15

  • best demo music ever...

  • took me a long time to find this, had it in my head for 19 years, finally...... beauttiful music. hope the fella who wrote it is making a living off it now.....so good......

  • AMIGA 4 EVER <3

  • I am still looking for a demo with dancing arabs in it. Cant remember the name.

  • @HooiSeven You wanna look for Spaceballs - State of the arts.

  • @Zeddemption I remember it was all about Spaceballs - State of the arts after jesus on e's

  • This must be the most listened tune by me ever.

Even to this day I like to put it on quite frequently.

Check out Virgill - Hyperbased - OMG its a CUBE! its a remake of this one and is pretty good.

  • Brilliant, unforgetable, killer music.

  • My current PC has at least 4000 times the computing power of my Amiga 500 and my soundcard has 64 times the memory of my Amiga.

But my PC has no personality!

  • Brilliant, nevar forget

  • Amazing, haven't heard this tune in 10+ years and I still know it by heart. Tip and Firefox were so talented.

  • @DesdichadoDK Totally man, a friend just sent this one to me...I immediately start singin this one. The ONLY computer with a SPIRIT man. True soul

  • Killer soundtrack :)

  • Ive still got this demo for my amiga 500!!, was one of my fave demos!.. Still power it up to watch demos & play vintage games!..

  • I must have watched this demo a thousand times back then, and it's still so good! Just loving it...

  • One of the best modules I've ever heard.

Still trying to find music from slideshow - any help? I remember text "packed by Joker" and on slides I remember Terminator and Freddy Kruger. Asked on some Amiga forum but no help from there. I can even whistle this music if that helps ;-)

  • 1991.. The Party 1991 in Aars - My first ever demo party. God, I miss those days :'(

  • The memories!

  • BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST SIR!

  • admire the sound starting at 3:00... :)

  • I used to have quite a few Amigas and loved them but sadly I needed to get a computer that could do things for today and I kept them upgraded like forever and they kept going until I couldn't push them anymore....

  • The amazing Amiga, a product Commodore mishandled the sale of! :(

  • One of the best 16 bit demos ever.

  • haniaroundtheworld:

The music is nice, but it can't really touch "State of the Art", "World of Commodore 92" or "9 fingers" :p

  • good old times ^^

  • Do you guys remember State of the Art by Spaceball? That one was quite impressive back then.

  • This has just taken me back to 12 years old. Thanks

  • Firefox took his composing skills to the max on this one. The tune still simply rocks today and I've heard parts of it in Jarre's work (tho I'm not sure who was first ;-) )

  • GOOD DEMO AMIGA

  • was what fuck?

  • POWER ON !

    and

    AMiGA 4EVER !

    :)

  • Love this demo!!! But; I thought there were some different things. I remember a part with 8(?) transparent cubes, a light-sourced cityscape which was greyish (not red and blue) with a small "sun" flying above it, and then a fractal landscape which you could zoom by clicking. I could even write down the music for it, I remember it so clearly.

Was it a later Phenomena demo? Or am I mixing them up with a different group?

  • Could be Second Reality by Future Crew...

  • You are talking about Sound Vision by Reflect if all the transparent cubes were inside each other. Search reflect sound vision and you will find a video though it doesn't include all of the demo.

  • Indeed, it turns out I am. Thanks!!

  • The tune from this Demo HAS to be in the top ten, of the all time greatest tracks made on the Amiga :)

  • Wow, talk about memories. This was the very first Amiga demo I received when I started swapping demos back in the day.

  • I had dozens of Amiga Demos. This one stayed one of my favorites... Superb coding and sound composition! Truly sweet memories!

  • I still have the mod. on my mac now. yes VLC plays the noisetracker mods!!

  • ...oh those sweet memories! .. *love*

  • firefox one of the greatest!

  • I discovered that I had the Enigma soundtrack, a remixed but very faithful version of the Speedball intro and Checknobankh (Kefrens Desert Demo) in .mod format a few days ago on my HDD.

Just in case anyone's interested... they're both playable in winamp. :-)

    (Fnorpp on Skype)

    Regards

  • Good memories!! Nice!! :D

  • the demo is nice but the soundtrack is absolutely amazing, i still like it after all these years. that and the track from "World of Commodore 92" demo from "sanity".

  • It's been said many times before but fuck it -- the music for this demo owns.

  • pixar was founded in -86, this is from -91 and they had already developed a raytracer that could do all that!?

wow, this was my favourite demo when i was a kid, around 13, but i didnt understand what geniuses these guys were. music is absolutely kicka**!

  • Oh... I get so nostalgic when I see this.. I was 15-16 at this time... It was magic..... Love Tip & Mantronics... I must have heard this mod at least 1000 times....

  • damn, i remember this! amazing stuff!

  • The music was as good as it gets...outstanding!

  • HELL!!!!!!! Cult!!!!! MAXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!

  • Best music and demo Amiga ever !!!!!!! Music is awesome relly :) AMIGA FOREVER

  • One of the best early demos for Amiga and that music... kicks butt.

  • You should know browndick

  • This also appeared on an atari ste music demo called High fidelity dreams, sounds exactly the same.

  • Nice demo this one. Amiga demoscene classic. Great track too.

  • still the best ever.

  • Shit vilka häftiga grejer!

    Jag blir nästan tårögd.

Jag gör även reklam för att man ska rösta PP.

  • Det vore intressant att få veta vad Azatoth och övriga medlemmar i Phenomena gör idag? :-)

  • You can probably find him through "skatteverket" they keep track of most people, even those with secret phone numbers and crap, and they aren't afraid to share it either.

Azatoth's old address is in the demo at the star wars scroller and then at the terminator font. ;p

Btw, know that's not what ya meant, just thought I'd share it... it's not like I've ever done that myself... honest... uhh... O_o

  • Kolla med Zike, han kanske vet...

Leta bland fairlight-intron/cracktron/whatevertron så hittar du honom garanterat :)

  • One of the best, if not the absolute #1!

  • amigaremix[dot]com serach for: Hyperbased

it's a awesome remix of this tune! Download it!

  • this is p much one of the best songs ever btw

  • AMIGA RULES!

    SWAP OR DIE

  • Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..............!!!!

  • i love it but it's more then inspired by Boney M - Happy song

  • i had a friend called "seinfeld" who was a brother with someone in phenomena.. :) lovely demo

  • Nice song! Reminds alot about intro songs to cartoon shows from that time.

  • Tosi ihana piisi!! Muistoija alku 90-luvulle :D Whopie.

  • Tell me about it. =) Can't even think how many times I've seen this demo.

  • Ahh yes. This music used to make me hard. Oops it still does.

  • cant get enough of this one

  • Aye, great music! Not sure if Jarre ripped Phenomena or vice versa tho.

  • BEST AMIGA DEMO EVER.

  • Great demo but OUTSTANDING music!!

  • Greetings to Firefox, Tip, Terminator, Azatoth and Uno. This Amigademo was a milestone in history of computergraphics.

  • This DEMO is MARVELLOUS!

    Ah... Those were the days...

  • i need cream of the earth

  • fun vid!! great tune!!!

  • fuck, that raytraced fractal is amazing.. a m a z i n g

and the song is nice ^_^ (I like a little more the Jester version.. only a little ;P)

  • There are some good demos, and plenty of crap ones too ;)

  • This was the first demo I saw on an Amiga attached a real hi-fi... I still like it, but demos have come a loooong way since then, and yay for that!

  • Someone knows Digital Illusions? Maker of Battlefield 2? They Released the Pinball-Series (Pinball Dreams, Fantasies and Illusions) for the Amiga. They are swedish, i guess. Still in Business... HarHar... ;)

  • Wow, so Swedish people pioneered 3D applications?

  • Finally.

I've had enigma.mod for years now, I've always wanted to see the demo it came from.

  • Hi there ! I have no clue as to what you are talking about, but I really liked this video. Any of you know where I can find more videos like this one ?

  • i think this is music like Kraftwerke made, and if u watch them.....

if i'm not wrong i think there is more videos like this in that genre

  • Check out the Amiga demos by the Swedish crew TBL called StarStruck and Ocean Machine. Coded on an AGA Amiga running with nothing but a 68060 processor. These are hardcore coders!!

  • When u talk it sounds like this demo isn't good compared to the TBL demo. U have to conider what hardware Azatoth had to work with to accomplished this demo, compared to what the TBL coders had, then the productions are pretty equal.

  • I couldn't agree with you more Skipper7302. And yes, my comment did come off as making it seem phenomena was poor by comparison, but I can assure you that this was not my intention.

I coded on the original chip set and wrote a number of games, so I appreciate what hardware Azatoth had to work with. When I first saw this demo back in the day, it blew my socks off. Phenomena rock and will always rock in my eyes.

  • *sigh* these were the good ole times lol

  • Mind blowing tune!

  • jeah, this tune is the best ever :)

  • Ahhhh vilka tider, det var ett större nöje att göra dom än att titta på dom.

Those were the days, it was a bigger pleasure to make them than watching them though.

  • Haven't seen this for like 15 years. I was stunned the first time I watched it and still get's goosebumps :)

  • Tip & Mantronix are timeless. I haven't heard this tune for over 15 years now, and i just noticed i remember every note of this track.

  • Yeah, it's great but its Tip & Firefox this time.

  • Yeah, that's correct. Crystal Symphonies has made a huge impact aswell on me, it seems ;)

  • I remember almost every part of this demo! Must have watched it WAY to much when i was young :P Great stuff, and made in sweden ;)

  • FANTASTIC!!! Greetings from Zike!

  • I see this movie in a french exposition, in the city of Beauvais (In french ;] ), titled "The PIXELS 2"

    Congratulation, it is great ^^

  • search for "XASnGpemk_M" if you are interrested in a graphic comparison between Atari ST and The Commodore Amiga !

  • Try getting a Sega Megadrive or Super Nintendo to do that raytraced fractal.

  • one of the best video ever!

  • and the most long that I have ever seen!

  • You have a delightful creative mind!

  • Nice demo, thanks for posting!

  • Great demo and imho best amiga tune ever.

  • hardwired on the second place, RSI megademo 3th ;)

  • I remember being absolutely blown away by this!!!

  • Amiga music is just SO GREAT!!! :D

  • this demo is sooo great i get goosebumps on my body!!! 5 stars to this awesome demo

  • Cool music.

  • I bought my first c64 from 4042 =)

  • Best computer of all time. Awsome Demo which I had original on disk, that was the BEST TIME EVER !! 20 years ago !!

  • 40492 viewers! that means this is the most popular amiga 500 demo on YouTube, wow!

  • The music in this demo is so awesome, it would make the demo score 5/5 even if all it showed was a black screen, and the second best part is it doesn't! ;D

  • Tip: download the lastest WinUAE and watch the demo in that instead of a compressed video.

  • A real gem from the classic Amiga Demoscene era. Was a real benchmark in 1991 when released. Nice code, good 3d vector tricks, good use of the copper. Great soundtrack by Firfox & Tip.

  • I had this and lost it.this has made my day, love the music the best song ever on the amiga.

  • Esto me lleva a mis tiempos mozos. Esto lo hacía una máquina cuando PC sólo emitía pitidos y tenía 16 colores ;-)

    Toma ya.

  • Just awesome! Amiga still rocks the house. I really would like to see such simple and good hardware today. Today everything is 08/15 PC or Mac hardware. Do you remember the variety of systems back in the 80th? Atari, Schneider, Commodore, Acorn, NeXT, Sun, SGI, Sinclair, ... Man - that was interesting and challenging.

  • The Video Is Playing Faster Then The Music - Still This Did Bring BAck Memories Though...

  • Damn, I love this tune.. I remember when I collected mods at my BBS Creatura ran by a 1 gig HD Amiga..

  • One of my favorite Amiga demos of the 90's!! Great coding, truly awesome music, the lot! Thanks for uploading.

  • God the Amiga Ruled , pc mags show there is a new computer called the Commodore XX being delevoped and with orignal logo's ! . 1991 i remember the year well , it had such a basic interface it was a coders dream for games and also led to designs of pc viruses. I remember louts 2/3 and Desert Strike 3 of my most favorite games ever

  • hahah this demo was considered a bit silly and full of itself even when it came out.

  • Sure, but when it's was that good, they could afford to be a little cocky!

  • Beautiful, just beautiful... thanks so much for uploading this, means I don't have to install UAE!

  • Awesome... end of, tune still stands up today

  • Musiklinjen!

  • Aaah, been searching for this for years, couldn't remember the title but always remembered the man on the flying platform on mars, very nostalgic, utterly amazing music, prob my favourite ever demo.

  • I should stop youtubing old demos from the 90ies, getting too nostalgic :) wish some of ours were up, balance / gods ..

  • Does anyone remember the great intro Phenomena made, it consisted of a sinusscroller in 32 colour and the scoller twisted around a beautiful bar. i wish someone could upload it to YouTube.

  • since noone seems to be interested in uploading it i have! just search for "phenomena amiga photon"

  • Atari ST is balls

AMIGA FOREVER!!! This still impresses me :)

  • Music totally out of sync at least 10-15 seconds at the end of the mars trip..

  • It is great

  • This is one of my fave demos. I never noticed it before, but Firefox? Any less obvious connection with the browser I wonder?

  • I was actually searching for the band Enigma but came across this and the beat is groovy :)

  • Might have a copy of this demo somewhere on one of my Amigas... got the module audio file right here if anyone's interested ^^

  • this music sure owns.

  • i remember the music was on 'high fidelity dreams' demo on the ST/STE. that was a good demo

  • AmigA RuLeZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • simply amazing music, WAY ahead of it's time!!!

one of (if not) the best!!!

    FUCK the Atari ST

  • lol an amiga fan ^_^ i m with you dude : fuck ST !!

  • The Amiga had co-processing long before the Macintosh ;) The Amiga had three co-processing units. How many did the Mac have at the time 1985-92?

  • shame only the real Amiga can scroll things properly

though... and Macs were for rich tossers without a clue lol

  • Too bad it's so hard to read :(. Probably just a youtube fault, though. One of the best demos I've seen yet!

  • Great design, great music.. absolutely one of the more memorable demos in history. :)

  • Like it but still prefer Global Trash!

  • mac was very expensive it look like an atari st hardware lol

  • Classic amiga demo with great music!

  • Musac rox!

  • Commodore Amiga Retro Sounds and Radio Stream at: www.modcast.de, this video has been added to our archive.

  • I think this is possibly my favourite demo ever. The music just clinches it. I love it.

  • YES !, AMIGA 4 EVER !!

  • eeheheh all awesome. Is it possible to feel down with music like that? Makes me wanna get all jiggy with it.

  • AMIGA RuLeZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

  • If Amiga had a good business model, PCs and Macs would be in tears today.

  • hell yeah, id still have my poor old amiga up and running, sigh...i miss it!

  • What the heck is a Mac?? ;-))

  • Macs are shit, now do one you elitist prick, macs are wank and back then they were shit on the Amigas shoe.

Bring Back Amos Pro that thing rocked!!

  • You really are quite delusional arent you? A bargain basement MAC Imitation? Lets sit a MAC of the time and an Amiga of the time side by side. Amiga = Superior OS, Colour, Definition, Sound, Speed .. etc .. I used Macs back then in high school and the Amiga shit all over them.. Anyway, your just like the other billion idiots on here that havent a clue.

  • @InescapableRattrap JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJ you are so stupid

  • YOU SIMPLY CANNOT BEAT AN AMIGA!!!

  • >1991...

    >This is considerable high efficiency in those days.

no doubt, back in the day it was done mostly in software with a good maths book, i.e. no help from 3D graphic chips. Wouldn't have been possible (in real time) without the Blitter and Copper chips though.
