  • I was a miscarriage that lived.

  • @sarcee1960 ha, so was my sister, she always jokes she was the 1% anti failure, she has a dark sense of humor

  • this is really moving.

  • My brother before me was a miscarriage. I was born a year later as a special miracle.

    Mark

  • dark night... intressting

  • sad

  • this is so sad :(

  • Bless Tori for her courage in sharing this. And bless all of you here for sharing your stories too!

  • I had a miscarriage ten weeks ago, the day after Mother's Day. It's odd, the night I got home from the D & C, I couldn't sleep. I stayed up all night at the piano, singing and playing through Tori Amos books, not sure why, but between sob sessions, I was sitting at the piano playing her stuff. It was oddly comforting. Now that I've seen this interview, I realize aha. My soul must have known, Tori has been there too.

  • It takes strength to talk about this. The fact that Tori was willing to talk about it shows just how human she is and how she's not afraid to show it.

  • This made me cry. Especially when she's talking about when the miscarriage happened. :(

  • That is exactly how every mother feels after a miscarriage. So sad

  • thank you for posting this, it's a great comfort for those of us who have suffered the tragedy of a miscarriage. I identify with a lot of what she said.

  • God been a fan for years didnt realise

How can she still carry such pain.how can anybody

  • God, I love this woman. No matter what, I love this woman. She is so strong, and provides strength for so many! I am sorry you had to experience all of these losses, Tori. But, I thank you for sharing and being a rock for so many. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • this is really sad, good that she's strong now though

  • thank you donia. Yeah that would be nice if you could give me a link. AS much as I love Tori I did'nt know about the child. Maybe I should read the credits just a bit more carefully, it may likely mention her in there somewhere.Yeah she certainly takes me to another world when I hear her sing.have you ever heard her remake of a thrash metal song by Slayer? lol, it is very bizarre, and if i ever had the oppartunity to sit down with her, I'd have to ask her what compelled her to do that.lol

  • her name was Peobe imiss mine too he wanted another mommy

  • God you could see her pain, and tears welled up but did'nt fall from her and that emotion of hers spilled over into me with the same reaction. So sad, imagine the talent and passion she would have passed down to her children. Does she have any children??She has to be for a numbger of reasons too numerous to address here, but her fans like me I am sure can concur one of the most inspirational and talented beautiful women on the planet..Not just physical beauty but her heart and soul throughmusic

  • yes, she has one child. a girl named natasha who is now 8 years old. she speaks about her a lot. you can see it in other interviews. i can provide you a link if you'd like.

from one tori fan to another, tori is a light and hope for all of us :)

  • She has one daughter called Natashya Lorien by her husband Mark Hawley.

  • Tears in my eyes.

"...there is no coffin, there's no outward symbology, there is no kind of ritual..."

I know. It feels so empty. Silent.

Until you hear another mother speak, like you did.

We mothers need to make our own rituals, write our own songs, make our own paintings. And share.

That is where the light comes in.

    Thank you.

  • This clip is exactly what I wish I could say to people. It puts miscarriage into real perspective and I was so glad to find that there are other women talking so openly about their own losses. It's an awful thing to experience, so painful and heartbreaking. . . but to find truth in it is also such an amazing gift. It's inspiring to know that there is healing and creation as all life is somehow equal.

  • "If you choose the wisdom out of the wound then there is healing..."

"Although I wasn't able to bring them to physical life, I was able to bring them into song form"

" You turn around death into some kind of expression of life"

    I love you Tori!

  • that was one of the most touching things i have ever heard, tori rocks!

  • Tori is a great inspiration for me. although I didn't suffer the same experiences I can use her insights to come out from my own private pain and see the hope and the lessons that each experience carry. I admire and love her for that.

  • She's my Goddess, my inspiration, my force. She's even my twin, i see so much of myself into her. She's a little of my reflection. I wonder how much pain she had to fight with.

    I love you Tori.

  • This is probably one of the best explanations I've eve heard about what it feels like to experience a miscarriage.

  • i'm 25 and i've had three. two confirmed, one suspected but never confirmed. I love tori so much for being brave enough to talk about this so openly.

  • It is amazing how she, through all she has been through, has come through stronger... :( What a heartbreaking life yet inspiring. God can really use anything if we allow him to...

  • this women has been through so much, rape, three miscarriages, death of her brother in a car crash, yet through all of it she remains a strong shining example to others. she is truly one of the most inspirational women to me next to my mom who also overcame her battle with 4 miscarriages. God bless you Tori!

  • The "wisdom in the wound"... I'm glad she discussed it. When my best friend lost Chloe I didn't understand but this make it more tangible... Thanks Tori.

  • I thought I knew just about everything about Tori..I was mistaken. In this video I saw (literally) her soul.Makes me love her even more. :-* (on the check ofcourse) til then Tony

  • It's almost been 2 weeks since my own miscarriage. Tori articulates exactly how it feels. It's so awful but this is so comforting to hear someone who's been through it and can be positive in the aftermath. Thank you Tori for speaking about it. :)

  • Im wondering if you might have read her book Piece by Piece. There is a whole chapter in there about her miscariges and I only mention it because it really helped me to read that when I was going through my own misscarriage.

  • I had 3 miscarriages & finally I'm on my 4th pregnancy & heading into my 10th week, praying that I get past the next 3 weeks & can finally breathe with relief! Miscarriage needs to be talked about more & people need to understand how one feels when it happens & what a huge loss it is! I'm glad I saw this as I didnt realise Tori had suffered in this way. Baby dust to everyone!!!! x xx

  • 9427904060

  • @Tomwsheehan My mom had 4 miscarriages, & then me!! So keep up hope.

  • It is amazing, she is so articulate. She is able to describe my miscarriage and the feelings I had. No, I don't think you can ever talk about it without tears, it is such a deep hurt.

  • god this video is sad and so beautiful...she is strong and amazing!

  • i'm so sorry for her...she's such a strong and wonderfull woman =)

i adore her so much and i actually cried when i watched this video for the first time...it's so sad :(

  • Heartbreaking. Tori is a huge inspiration who means the world to me. Thank you for posting x x x

  • Very sad

  • i lost my baby over a year ago as well and it hurts and she is very brave to talk about this over the air thank you tori for this.

  • You never get over the lost of a baby, it's been a year since lossing my daughter it still hurts. Thanks tori for sharing with us.

  • You never get over the lost of a baby, it's been a year since lossing my daughter it still hurts. Thanks tori for sharing with us.

  • She is really brave for mentioning this kind of situation. Miscarriage is not really an open subject. My prayers go out to her and to all of the other women that this has happened to. I feel your pain, been there. It helps to remember that you will be with your child in heaven and that God is all knowing and will comfort those who mourn.

  • It's amazing that she can speak about this without breaking down. She's so strong. I love her.

  • I could hear her speak all day

  • She's such a strong woman!

Part of the reason why I love her so much!

I can only imagine how she must have felt, having experienced three miscarriages.

I feel for her so much, even more so when I listen to 'Playboy Mommy'.

  • makes me love her even more! What a strong woman!

  • Oh My!! I knew but hearing her talk about it my eye's are watering:(

  • Yes, Tori.

  • tori is such an inspirational figure for women all around the world

    i love u tori

  • I miscarried this past March. Thank you for sharing this with the world Tori. I relate to this, and it's something you never get over. But I am so glad to see you saw the light in the darkness.

  • she has suffered rape and miscarriage. being a woman i can oly try to imagine what kind of pain that must have caused her. yet she manages to cast out the devil with her songs and i guess her family.i hope she is happy:-)

  • Hey Raz. here you are too.

    I second that :)

  • I love you Tori.

  • wow.

thanks for uploading this. i love her, didn't know she suffered three miscarriages...thought was one...wow

  • her daughters name is natashya, shes on the dvd like whentomorrowfails said

  • "Wisdom from the wound"..........What a powerful statement!

  • a miscarriage is so hard and such a moving expirience for a woman to go through so it is trult moving to hear a woman such as tori share an event such as this and feel so positive about the whole thing. we all have to be strong sometimes whether famous or not, all we need is a little saupport

  • Oooh, Tori...my God!

    Love you!

  • the most rational and normal i've ever heard tori speak. so does she have a kid now or not?

  • yes, she has a daughter in the "welcome to sunny florida" dvd

  • she's had three miscarriages? I'm not sure I understood, but what a moving segment

  • Thank you for sharing this video!! Miscarriage is a hard thing to deal with and Tori is so right when she says it's taboo and not many people know what to say. Also like she said there is no coffin and no outward symbolism for the death therefore making closure hard to find. Great interview!

  • Sure§ Her strenght, talent, lyrics come from her darkness.

She succees in turning them into beautiful art of works

  • No wonder she was able to create some really dark and amazing music

  • For those who love her music, Tori the artist has always been one of those open secrets that only the few are privileged enough to be in on. As much as I love her music, it's Tori as a woman I consider to be one of those rare souls. Her kindness, openness, and willingness to focus on what's important never ceases to amaze me. I just wish the world was populated with more human beings of her mental and spiritual caliber.

  • thank you so much for this

  • oh. my. god.. no words.

  • Wow. To have gone through three miscarriages and still be able to find something positive from them all takes a massive amount of personal strength.

Tori, I salute you. You have my admiration and and respect even more than you did previously.

  • That's so sad. It must be horrible to go through that three times.

  • Oh BLESS HER :O

Jesus christ, this is so sad. She's so brave ):

  • Tori, for so many reasons, you are a hero. Your strength, your kindness, your talent you so readily share... You are nothing short of amazing. Much love to you and your family. xo

  • I so understand. I had a miscarriage in January 2003 and then carried my daughter full term in December 2003. You just don't forget. Thanks Tori

  • the feelings she spoke of are so true. i can't imagine going through it over and over again. but how precious her bundle must be now that she has worked so hard.

  • amazing what people can live through...

  • Another note - i met Tori briefly in the mid-'90s. I am disabled, was in the wheelchair - she skipped everyone in the queue and came right to me - i looked up and there she was, eye to eye with me! She was fab, accidentally stole my magic marker :) She was so kind - then years later i found out that she had miscarried not long before that day. And still had that much heart for a girl in a wheelchair. She has this amazing soft demeanor when offstage. Just lovely.

  • Wow. I knew about the baby she lost, then sang about in "Playboy Mommy", and had heard her talk about losing the baby at the beach. But i had no idea that she had lost THREE! But wow, that makes Tash even more a miracle!

  • Wow, this actually made me cry.

Tori you're an amazing person, may those life forces live on in your song for an eternity!

  • so sad.. oh i love you tori xx

  • Oh my goodness. I had no idea... :( Poor Tori. <3

  • omg that is so sad and this made me cry... that was really painful to watch :( poor tori <3 i love u <3

  • spark and a few others songs are about her miscarriage/s..of which she had around three i believe..

  • that was painful to watch. poor Tori.

thanks for putting this up, though, it's nice to see Tori showing her fans how very human she is once in a while.

  • i got tears in my eyes.

  • The song in the end of the interview, "Spark" from her From the Choirgirl Hotel album deals with the topic of her miscarriage. Other songs do as well, I think, but that one for sure.

  • that was sad! i dint know she experienced miscarriage... im sorry for her and the unborn baby.. u guys know if she has written a song about this experience?

  • Tori has suffered numerous miscarriages. I think she had three before she carried her daughter to term. Playboy Mommy I think is a song dealing with miscarriage, and also Spark. The name Skeeter on the tree in the Spark video clip is a memory to her child. Her and Hawley were calling the unborn child Skeeter.

  • I didn't know that (about Skeeter)...thank you so much for sharing it. "Choirgirl" was released one week after I had a miscarriage of my own, and I immediately knew that "Spark" and "iieee" were expressions of the "dark night" of MY soul. "Spark" in particular was, and still is, my touchstone for dealing with my loss.

  • Also there is a verse in Almost Rosey about it--the song is from her new album American Doll Posse.

  • Thank you for sharing.... wonderful. Just wonderful. Hugs to all the angel mommies out there.

  • Thank you so much for that. That was beautiful and sad. It actually gave me chills... wow.

Thanks for uploading all the other interviews, too! You're doing a wonderful duty to fellow EWF everywhere, haha ^_^.

    Take care!
