  • genial!

  • Suena a Debussy! me encanta... John Cage, un verdadero compositor contemporáneo!

  • Esto fue lo primero q oí del Gran John Cage... que recuerdos... que maravilloso e inexplicable sonido.

  • All great art is a form of complaint

  • This sounds a bit like Debussy to me. In any case John Cage is awesome. :)

  • I love this piece. Is this Herbert Henck?

  • Art is not understanding it but how you interpret it.

  • So cool! It starts off sounding like Brahms' "Edward" ballade (the first chord is musically identical!) then magically spills into this very colorful Messiaen-like section.

  • Late "Summer" Evening (from The Seasons)

Cage's piano dances, with innate brilliance, playing with the stillness, and rustling in between,

as full green moves gently with gold amongst the trees,

his smile and mannerisms bring joy and strangeness, he is sound embedded in body, he is body embedded in sound,

and protection remains affixed under preservation of his hands

  • which CD is this beautiful recording from?

  • THe Orchestral Version is even better. Cage was an extremely capable composer. I'm a huge fan of his early work, like this, but also of his later period. His "middle-period" works like 4'33" were more on the theoretical side of things.

  • Strange, at the moment this says something about Winter to me. Maybe its the ice covered world I see outside my window...

If anything this arouses that very actue sorrow I've always felt when, once per year, I blink my eyes and summer has given way to the cold, the sun has faded and sunk low.

  • [...] one of the best [...]

  • bella !!

  • I just started to get into the actual John cage (by actual, I mean, other then just knowing of his controversial 4'33 stuff). He is excellent at creating dynamic, beatiful works that are so simple. It sounds so spacious, broad, defined. The rhythm and feel always feels so abstract. The songs themselves are simple, but they always feel simply, yet complex.

  • it's magnificent and who is more fun than john cage

  • I find this to be reminiscent of the first movement of Vivaldi's own summer concerto (RV 315) probably because of all the non sequiturs that appear throughout both pieces.

    Both are very beautiful works.
